I am totally convinced this MP Pro is possessed or obsessed. I picked this thing up gently used came with a nice apex FSS trigger set up very clean awesome condition, problem with shooting to the left and then this happens....what would you do?
I'm ready to use it as a hammer a wheel chock for a semi or staking tool for a set of railroad tracks by my house unless someone can come up with a better idea...
Am not real happy right now [emoji90][emoji717]

Man, sorry to hear that! I'm an admitted M&P fanboy and have 5 so far, to include a 5" Pro and have had 100% function with all of them and great accuracy across the board. Crazy enough, I think my favorite one has become my 40 compact when using fullsize mags with the adapters. I dunno why, but the thing just feels incredible in that setup.

I have had a few other pistols (Sigma and PC629) with issues that Smith cleared up lickety-split and at zero cost to me. I got the 629 second hand (most like 7th or 8th, but whatever.

Regardless, I hope it gets taken care of for you quickly, and that you get to enjoy the pistol as it should be. Edited by musicman

Oh it's gonna go back to smith. And they best not blame jack on the apex fss, and best not put a stock trigger in and snatch my parts like some other companies do....
Damn lever held together by a tiny pot metal joint is just bs...
A pistol doesn't have to be strong enough to crack coconuts, but that takedown lever should not be a weak link in a pistol.....

Well d mark I'll be shooting my sig this weekend,,,, no mp fun....thanks for the wisdom gents! Edited by Dustbuster

MIM part breakages aren't uncommon so I wouldn't fret over that one as to the accuracy issues that should prove interesting. You might very well end up with a new barrel. As to the Apex parts, that'll depend on S&W and how it affects warranty repair but my suspicion is they'll be removed and returned with the pistol.

I was tempted too.  But Glocks break too.  :panic:

No doubt......It just seems the quality of the M&P isn't on par with some of the other manufacturers. I remember the cracked slide on the brand new M&P that Hickok got.

Atlanta PD dumped their M&P's.

Texas DPS was going to adopt the M&P but decided not to after having issues with them during the training.

LA county Sheriff's department not longer allows their offers to carry the M&P either.

Austin PD had issues with theirs as well.

All of this can be found online.

Does "Buy a CZ" count?

Nope. They've had random issues to. But that was a pretty good try! :hat: All humor and such aside all firearms can and will have breakages, regardless of who made them. One of the things we as consumers look for in our firearms is how well warranty repairs are addressed. Custom aftermarket parts have generally been frowned on by firearms manufactures so such generally get removed prior to sending a gun back for service work. Obviously if you don't have the OEM parts any longer that can be a problem. It therefore becomes prudent to advise such and see if its going to be and issue. FWIW I fully expect the OP to receive good customer service from S&W.

Spoke w S&W, 3 buttons on their phone menu and i was on w a human US citizen  rep, no hold...nice 4 minute phone call.

told him what happened, gave him the ser of the gun, he e mailed me a label, told me to put a note in the box asking for them to not screw w the apex fss

fed ex was at my work in 10 mins to pick it up, couldn't believe it.

heres what i put in my note to them:

Please repair as necessary

1.       Break down lever broken.

2.       Pistol has been placing rounds all over target at 25 yards, low at 8 o’clock. Jerry Miculek I’m not, but a good friend gave me a beater Dawson sight set to work with it, unfortunately the takedown lever broke before I was able to test the pistol. Pls test fire to determine if there is an issue w the barrel or any other components that may be causing a problem.

3.       Please leave the apex trigger setup inside of the pistol, it’s been working fine,

4.       This pistol was missing the plastic cap under the rear sight that covers the small spring.

5.       I know the sights are banged up, am not worried about them, pls do whatever you feel is best to check the weapon out and check for accuracy related problems.

6.       This is my first S&W.Please help restore my faith in it.

Thanks pls call w any questions

I have no doubt they will take care of you. The few times I've called them wasn't for warranty work but they were very nice and helpful.

Name dropping Jerry Miculek can't hurt your chances haha.

I've only had one problem with a S&W and it was taken care of with no hassles.

I bought a Model 63 used and it was a great shooter but after spitting out the bullets it didn't want to let go of the containers they came in  (wouldn't eject the empties). I contacted Smith and they took care of it with no problems even though I had bought it used. I'm not sure what they did, but it still works great.
