Gun Violence in Chicago -Where is the outrage?

Recommended Posts

Black lives only matter when white people are involved. When black people kill black people, it is not news because it does not support the narrative. In fact, it's racist to even bring this up.

Why pick out Chicago? You don’t have to leave this state; compare it with Memphis. And Memphis doesn’t have gun bans, people are allowed to carry.

I go to Chicago every chance I get; great city. But I got my HCP after a trip to Memphis.

Nashville news 4 covers shootings about every night. The other night they had three.

Seems like by now, the totals would make gang bangers an endangered species there, at least black ones.

They make more at an alarming rate.

I've read several stories that said over the course of a few years, there were more people were murdered in the Chicago area than US soldiers killed in the Iraq war.  Fewer soldiers died in a war zone than people on the streets of Chicago.   :shake:

Actually, that statement isn't totally accurate.  A black defendant is far more likely to get the death penalty if the victim is white than if the victim is black.  The same holds true for a white defendant.  If a white person kills a black person, they are not as likely to get the death penalty than if they kill a white person.  In reference to the criminal justice system, black lives don't matter as much as white lives and the fact that politicians and the media don't pay attention to the high rate of violence within the black community is proof of that.

I'm sure that is true, however, my post is referring to the loudest voices in the media who have been manufacturing outrage in the wake of any shooting involving people who have different skin pigments than one another. My post accurately reflects their hypocritical viewpoints.

Chicago is run by liberals......so there's nothing to see there.

Nowadays ALL big cities are run by liberals, look who Nashville elected as Mayor. Hell, I bet Jackson Mississippi is mostly liberal. Maybe not Casper Wyoming but Casper is probably compared to Dickson TN. in size.

Can anyone remember the last time our local news networks didn't mention a shooting or a killing right here in Nashville? It seems like an everyday occurrence these days also. As for Chicago, it has always had murder issues all the way back to the roaring 20's and has never changed. There have always been murders in the Windy City. It is only because of the mass shootings that it has been brought to the fore front. Back in 1974 right after I returned home from Service I went to work in the Illinois Department of Correction and was stationed at the Joliet Prison branch. There was a whole walk(Tier) of Black gang members 80 cells worth with 2 in each cell. They were mostly members of a Black organization known as the Black P Stone Nation which was in connection to an area of Black Stone Avenue in Chicago. I ask one of them what he was in for because he seemed so young to be in a Main Prison system. He was 16 years old and doing life without parole for the murders of three other black youths all under the age of 15 because they refused to join the Black Gangsters Street Gang so he just shot each one in the head and walked away. So this is not a new problem in Chicago. It is just a really old problem that has never been solved nor will it ever be and the news medias have finally figured that out so yea, it's not news any more in Chicago...........jmho

Its only news in that it has gotten much worse than the late 60's early 70's.

My hometown is Detroit MI. Born in 1949 back when it was the auto capital of the world. I lived through the riots and saw tanks roll up my street. But there was more of the city that was still safe and productive than now.

I was up there 2 months ago to visit my mother and it looks like a war zone. Detroit is still number one in Murders per capita in the US and the most dangerous city to live in.  All these major cities like Memphis, St. Louis, Chicago, are the same. Violent crime and poverty mixed with unemployment, and many years of liberal governance have turned such places into decay and despair. Frankly, it seems to me especially in the case of Detroit that its too far gone. Perhaps chicago could recover but a lot of these cities are going to go bankrupt and become ghost towns. I'v only visited Memphis once and most of it could be mistaken for Detroit or east St. Louis. Its a shame.
