decent spotting scope for under $100?

Recommended Posts

I dunno a specific model but find something in your budget with the highest magnification you can and it will be fine at that distance.    Might make sure it has a decent warranty too but its not like a gun scope (no reticle, no recoil, treated gently, etc).   If you get a cheap one with no warranty, don't put it right beside the side blast wave from your elephant gun?

FYI: I tried going the budget route.... and ended up buying a second spotting scope later in the $400 range.

What caliber are you checking targets on at 200-300yds?

.308 or 30-06 are much easier to see than smaller calibers.

If you want to see .223 holes at 200-300yds, asking a budget spotting scope to do that is asking a lot.  -shoot 'n see targets will help.
