Remington also had major quality problems with some of their new autoloading shotguns in past years.  However, the their latest shotgun (the V3) and its predecessor, the Versamax, are getting rave reviews on their reliability.  Maybe this will carry over to the R51.

I absolutely LOVE the original Remington 51 .380!  That made me curious when Remington announced the new 9mm.  I'm glad I didn't waste my money two years ago.  I'll wait a while before I look at the new release.  Remington's quality has been so poor in the last several years that I'm still wary.

I think its already too late. Even if Remington has all the bugs worked out and the pistol totally perfect, I seriously doubt it will ever overcome its dreadful start. Remington is making good on the ones they have already sold, but I do wonder if they'll even try to market new ones?

When the R51 first came out, I was somewhat interested due to my liking of the original Model 51 .380. However, when I ran across a R51, as soon as I held it in my hand I was like Aw Hell No! The R51 design just plain sucks.
