I didn't find a place to clear the list.  I did find a place where you can change many things about notifications.

1. Click on the bell at the top right of the screen.

2. A little window will open.  At the top right of the little window, click on 'Notification Settings'

3. Once inside the settings area, there are a myriad of things you can change.

4. Make sure to save any changes.
