If you do that, he knocks your ass on the ground, and that's it. No. He knocks you on the ground, then starts smashing your skull on the sidewalk, you're getting warmer.3 points

this is the most rational post in this entire thread. It's very refreshing.3 points

I really have not seen a bit of evidence that Zimmerman did anything wrong. He was acting as a neighborhood watch. He saw someone out of place. He called it in. He got out of his car to check. He got his ass beat. He defended himself. What am i missing? I see no evidence he threatened Martin, at best/worst only wanted to speak to him. If I see someone looking out of place where i live I would probably want to know what they were doing there too. Does that earn me an ass whipping? From the facts as I know them, the aggressor was shot..3 points

EXACTLY. The boxer ought to be smart enough and man enough to STOP and not just keep wailing on the man who punched him in the nose. I also suspect that if the boxer (or Martin) had kept going and actually killed the other, it would be the boxer/Martin facing jail time for at least manslaughter.2 points

Everyone making Zimmerman out as being at fault are predicating on the belief that you don't have the right to ask a stranger in your neighborhood what they are up to. For some here, asking a stranger that is enough of a provocation that you should "get your azz beat". Are you kidding me?2 points

Meh, she is just an actress. The reason hollywood types make political statements is that the sheeple hinge on their every word. What she did during Viet Nam was irrelevant then and now.2 points

All this was only after Zimmerman got out of his vehicle and followed the kid on foot. I don't know about Florida law but TN law (the same part that contains our version of 'stand your ground') states that lethal force is not justified to defend against violence if the person using said lethal force provoked the other party into the use of violence. If I am just walking along, minding my own business - say walking back from the store - in a place where I am legally allowed to be and some stupid SOB I don't know gets out of his vehicle and starts following me then I am going to feel pretty darned 'provoked'. In fact, if I see that he is armed (as Zimmerman was) I am going to start feeling a reasonable fear of death or serious, bodily injury. Eventually, I would feel the need to 'stand my ground' against my pursuer. Regardless of what Martin did, the conflict would never have happened if the Zimmerman hadn't, without any justification or authority to do so, gotten out of his SUV and started following an unarmed teen who was doing nothing wrong. My stance is that, by so doing, Zimmerman became the 'aggressor' and provoked Martin to attack him out of fear for his own (Martin's) safety. Further, my stance is that - put in Martin's position, i.e. being followed by an armed stranger - I would be in fear for my life. I believe such fear would be reasonable. Were it me that Zimmerman was following, I would call 911 and inform the police that I was being chased by an unknown individual, especially if I ascertained that said individual was armed. I would probably try and keep the 911 operator on the line and would take whatever action I felt the situation and my safety warranted, believing my actions to be justifiable self defense.2 points

That's right...I don't think you should be held legally or morally liable if you are truly and have good reason to be in fear for your life and you take action to defend yourself even if you pick a fight with someone.1 point

\Maybe it means that people shouldn't jump to conclusions and especially so when most of the information is innuendo coming from people with an agenda supported by a mostly stupid press.1 point

Actually, as the police and DA have basically been accuse of racism and a flubbed investigation, information has been trickling out including information that at least some of the eye-witnesses indicated that Martin attacked Zimmerman from behind as Zimmerman was either heading to his vehicle or getting into it which is one of the reasons the DA didn't think he could get a conviction. In any case, I don't and never will believe that someone gives up the basic right of self-defense just because "he started it"...I agree and practice that carrying a firearm dictates that we should go out of our way to avoid a conflict but still, defending your life is defending your life...even if Zimmerman was 100% responsible for the start of the physical altercation; he shouldn't have to lay there and die just because Martin isn't willing to stop beating him to death.1 point
-
Well, I wouldn't ever start a fight in the first place, but be danged if I take a beating and not even reach for it. I don't care what some attorney can twist and contort about not having a deadly weapon. If someone starts hitting me, I'm going to put holes in their torso.1 point
-
So you're saying that if you got punched in the face...hard enough to knock you down, then had your head slammed against the ground you would not fight back with whatever means necessary? Like you would have the foresight and restraint to stop defending and accept a beat-down because you might deserve it?1 point

I guess "Was polite to some one on the way home from 7/11" doesn't play well on FB and Twitter. "Some cracker asked me what I was doing and I bashed his head on the sidewalk" gets you much better street cred.1 point

"Hey, what are you doing around here?" "On my way back to my Dad's from 7/11; got some skittles and tea. See ya." "Oh, umm, ok." How about that for a possibility? Or has all rationality and courtesy gone from the world? Oh, right. Never mind.1 point

Well, actually, not . . . thinking . . . more like feeeeeeeeelinggggggggg.1 point

Well not me. I still believe that Zimmerman instigated the confrontation. Whether Martin was beating him up or not doesn't matter. The only alternative is to believe that, for no reason, Martin just randomly assaulted Zimmerman and it's ALL just a big 'ol coincidence that Zimmerman was following him around playing pretend cop. Save your "I told ya so's" for the playground.1 point

Clean it. You don't know if has to much grease or none. I normally clean my EDC after it's fired just so that if a question came up about who fired shots I can demonstrate the weapon has not been fired.1 point

It is one of those cases If you have to ask - then it is not for you. Also if you are not a reloader - It is not for you (I reload load a box of 50 for well under $5) If you are not a hunter - It is not for you I will save you a lot of time and money. If you have to be convinced of "why" the 44 magnum has no place in your inventory. If you reload and hunt it is the perfect caliber.1 point

Charlie has done an INCREDIBLE job flipping that place over. There's nutz and jerks everywhere in life, but he has really run some of the enema bags from yesteryear, down the road. No more know it all jerk wads telling what and how to do something. If your muzzle discipline is good and you're not rapid firing or being rude, Charlie is good to go. He is VERY easy going but he does have a line and you will not cross it. For the record Owl Hollow is dead. Haffner Memorial Range is an EXCELLENT place to shoot and could very well be the best gun range bargain in the state despite his membership fee going up last year. $60/year now. Most of people waste more than that on vending machines and hobos every year.1 point

Okay, since i have two miniature Schnauzers that i treat like my children, I NEED to chime in on this one. I can not speak for everyone that is that guy saying"It's okay" but I can say this has been me TOO many times lately. Granted, my dogs are small, but that doesn't make it okay that a dog(2 actually) come running at you, or God forbid your children, barking and sprinting. Again, my dogs are the absolute worst about this, so I do everythign in my power to keep them at hoem ro on a leash but it happens. If it wee to happen that someone were to pick up thier child and drop kick my dog, you will not get a cruelty to animals comment from me. I will politely apologize as best I can and pray it's not a large vet bill as they are my responsibility! If in fact it comes to it that you shoot my dog, i will be upset, in tears even, but not upset with you. I understand my animal's actions and I woudl see them as threatening.... So, I feel you did everything perfect, and honestly, maybe even a little reserved! I probabyl woudl have let the owners have it, as I have received that tongue lashing numerous times! Props to you my friend!1 point

It's not even under the radar. MSNBC is fomenting a race war and blaming 2A laws. The EPA seems to be making some rulings about the "evils of lead bullets" in the environment. Look at Holder's actions. I'm afraid the time is here.1 point

Exactly. Just because the officer on scene didn't make an arrest means nothing.1 point

Read back thru my posts. I have been consistent throughout in my position that you cannot simply arrest someone and put them on trial without having something to charge them with. I even asked you specifically what YOU would charge Zimmerman with if you were the arresting officer. I even went to far as to post the FSS chapter numbers that address crimes. I still have not had anyone, including you, respond with a specific charge. All we keep getting is posts asking for grand juries and that Zimmerman will be charged, etc, etc, etc. As far as the Federal investigation into the case. The Feds didn't do much for Martin Lee Anderson and the events that led to his death were on video. By the way, for those interested in trivia- the attorney for Trayvon's family also represented Martin Lee Anderson's family. There is an article in the Kansas City news from a few days ago where he talked about them not getting the media involved soon enough in the Anderson case so thats why they did in this case. Get people worked up and emotional and it will help your civil case...... You can Google Martin Lee Anderson if your not familiar with the case......1 point

Nothing wrong with them looking at the case. My objections all along have been against folks buying into the liberal, anti-gun media's agenda. Fair trials good, lynch mobs bad.1 point
-
I absolutely do think there was an investigation going on. I've said that from the beginning. Some here think that this should be let go because it's turned into a circus. If a grand jury won't indict him then fine. But to be opposed to them looking at this case shows a bias just as bad as MSNBC or Jesse Jackson.1 point
-
Hmmm... that goes both ways. Some here think that when a permit holder shoots an unarmed person there should be the benefit of the doubt instead of a thorough investigation.1 point

Too late for many people, even a few here.1 point

We can't put everyone on trial. Prosecutors have limited time and budget so they must weed thru the tons of cases they receive and decide which ones to pursue. I'm certainly not asking for a jury to hear testimony and decide on Zimmerman's fate. The evidence is just not strong enough. Let's don't let emotion take over common sense.1 point

You need an attorney versed in TN law. Armchair commandos here aren't qualified.1 point

I dont see how scooping up your kid could possibly offer more protection than standing in front of them. If the dog attacks your gonna want both your hands and arms free to protect your vitals. If the dog is attacking you then your child is safe. if your holding your kid and the dog attacks both of you are likely to be injured. You done good. But this makes me miss the days when i was growing up and everyones dogs would run free with zero issues. Like a previous person said id probbaly try and stop the dog, unless it looked noticably aggresive.1 point

Okay, shame on me, but I don't watch much news anymore [mostly because I just don't care] But I'm just getting wind of most of this. What's the big frickin' deal? Yeah, I'm sorry someone died, get over it, people kill each other every minute of every day on every plot of land on earth. Why are they latchin' on to this so hard? Because it's so much more important a case than the guy who killed the little boy in front of grandfather back during hunting season? More important than the umpteen hundred thousand million people who died today? Humans are no better than a bunch of got-dang hungry jackals. They just need something to feed on. Race card....White AND black folks need to shove that race card up their because many of us are tired of hearing it.1 point

Lol, the wife usually checks the mail everyday because she stays at home. For the past week I have been checking the mail when I got home even when she had checked it already. I have also bugged her every day before coming home from work. All she heard from me for a whole week was, "did I get my permit in the mail"? I almost missed the tiny envelope among all the junk mail. I didn't see it until I thumbed through the mail for the second time. I took the Wally Walk earlier and as suspected not a soul noticed I was even carrying.1 point

I'm almost as sick of the "race card" as I am of "political correctness". I know that racism exists...I know that it will likely never be truly gone... but I'm sick to death of it being an excuse for everything bad that ever happens to someone. I believe that most people today are willing to judge a person by their actions rather than by their skin color but often times, we never even get the chance to do so before we are called a racist.1 point

I have a real problem with the idea of a HATE crime. It makes any crime committed by a white (or, in the recent shooting case, even a near-white) into something else while a pass is given to anyone of any other race that attacks a white person in all but the most extreme circumstances. On top of that, it implies that the jury can determine the motivation for any old crime well beyond what may or may not have happened. It also makes a crime of things that are not criminal behavior... are people (whites!) to be charged now for their speech? If nothing but a shouting match happens between 2 people, one white and one not, and both use racial slurs, guess who will be charged with mr hate crime? Its just more of the same anti-white reverse discrimination that liberals always try to push... on par with crap like hiring quotas or breaks given to minority owned or woman owned businesses (govt contracts, yes it happens). Or, to put it simply, I do not care why someone beat someone else to a pulp or disturbed the peace with a shouting match or spray painted the other guy's door or whatever the heck else. I really do not care. Prove they did it, toss em in jail or hang em, and its sufficient. The punishment needs to be the same whether it was motivated by racial dislike or a disagreement over which baseball team is better.1 point

sorry, but without getting deep into a discussion. but I am tired of one group able to have a music genre free to call white folks anything they want but the moment anyone of the white persuasion utters something negative against another race is national news.1 point
