To all you mothers, no matter what kind of mother you may be, happy Mother's Day! Hope your lousy unappreciative kids do something special for you on this very special day. (Didn't mention all the great kids out there because it's a given that they'll do something special) Oh, and if you happen to be one those lousy, unappreciative kids I've mentioned - Get off yer butt and call your mom and tell her you love her!2 points

You would be wrong. However, you are entitled to your opinion, no matter how ignorant it is.2 points

I am a fervent Paul supporter, however I think that the "Paul or nobody" crowd are a bit misguided. Instead of taking your ball and going home when Paul doesn't get the nomination, realize that he has built a coalition of like minded, libertarian folks under the Republican banner who can reform the party from the inside out. A coalition that can bring together people to elect politicians who will actually respect constitutionally recognized liberties, instead of just paying lip service to them while selling the people out.1 point

This.... is why this government has gone to Hell. The country was based, partially, for freedom of religion. Government should never be allowed to mandate a required religion of choice. However, to ignore God within government and social issues is, in my opinion, a mistake. What else shall we use for the litmus test for what is socially acceptable and what is not? There must be a constant in the consistently degradation in our social environment. But, I realized what I see as deterioration another may see as evolution. Just my two cents.1 point

I have no problem with gay marriage, but that's hardly a vote-swaying issue for me. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch using Tapatalk 21 point

Actually, marriage is a religious union, and Government shouldn't have anything to do with it at all. Also, marriage is a union between one man and one woman. I suppose a gay guy could marry a woman. A lesbian could marry a man. H3ll, I don't know why a gay man couldn't marry a lesbian! For two of the same sex to marry would require a change in the definition of the word.1 point
-
And the state. That's the problem. No matter who marries you, without that license you ain't married for legal purposes. So the question becomes, should folks have the same legal benefits of marriage in all states? If no, it remains state rights issue. If yes, it will take federal law. Also, will take federal law change for ALL married people to get same federal benefits. - OS1 point

My first one is that AFAIK their sign does not prevent LEOs from carrying, on or off duty, so is non sequitur to the actual problem that caused them to post it? - OS1 point

The casing was probably tossed out in the yard after the incident or after police gathered what tey needed. No need to read into any more than that. I would trust that old man's word of what happened over most others. He grew up in a time when your word meant everything and lying was almost as bad as killing a man. So sad how times have changed in the last 75 years. Dolomite1 point

Ya think it may be folks pushing back over all the BS surrounding that story? I don't agree with it either, but DO understand why they came about.1 point

If retailers are offering you the convenience of paying via credit card, and it costs them more to do so, why should they not pass that expense on to you? Don't like it? Pay cash.1 point

This is the big one. Fact is, the electorate as a whole is dumber than a bag of hammers. They'll most likely swallow the smoke screen, and our politicians will continue their incompetence. There are just too many things that folks want from the government. They certainly don't want it fixed, or Ron would have MUCH bigger numbers. We're gonna be lucky to come out of this mess with our gun rights.1 point

Given it a lot of thought. Very little actual effort, but lots of thought. I think endurance training would be much more valuable than strength training. There's lots and lots of big, strong guys who would collapse before the 1 mile mark.1 point

Just pin the grip safety down if it is a bone of contention. Or you could just grind the leg off that blocks the trigger if the grip safety is depressed. The grip safety isn't that important to the 1911 being safe. It has more to do with making sure the gun it gripped correctly before firing. The 1911 is one of the least sensitive guns to limp wristing. Try shooting a Glock while limp wristing, most times it will not even extract the round from the chamber. Here are some very telling videos about the reliability of the "ancient" 1911 platform: If you don't like the grip safety of the 1911 remove it. It still has the thumb safety which is a much better safety than the grip safety anyways. The grip safety only prevents the trigger from being pulled, thats it. It doesn't keep the hammer from falling. The gun is stil capable of firing if dropped and the thumb safety is not engaged. The reason is because the grip safety only blocks the rearward movement of the trigger. And because of this the sear can be bumped off the hammer hook if dropped or jarred. This is why it is important to ALWAYS use the thumb safety. I have known people who believe the grip safety is all that is needed on a 1911. And that is about as far from the truth as you can get. The thumb safety on the other hand locks the sear in place preventing the hammer from falling. And because the sear is locked in place AGAINST the hammer hook the hammer cannot drop no matter the reason. The thumb safety prevents the gun from firing no matter the amount of dropping or jarring it is subjected to. A properly fitted thumb safety will not allow the 1911's hammer to fall no matter the reason. This is why it is so important to have a qualified gunsmith or someone intimately familiar with the 1911 fit the thumb safety. It is the second most important safety, the first being the shooter's brain. Dolomite1 point

Because grip safety's are something people have griped about for the last hundred or so year's.1 point

The gay marriage thing is the most giant of all straw men. It reeks of furthering government control of every facet of life. Concerns about "benefits" simply buys into the Nanny State mentality. If one is concerned about gifting on personal property in a manner consistent with one's wishes, perfect a will. This whole discussion is achieving the aim of the administration, obfuscation of issues of merit. As long as we are focused on such topics, we are NOT paying attention to the man behind the curtain...1 point

The founding fathers founded this country as a Christian nation rooted in Christian principles. Seperation of Church and State meant that no single church could take over the government and become the religion of the nation. They also had states that had a state denomination. The founders were ok with that.1 point

I'm not posting this to get a pat on the back but to get some of you involved in a worthwhile endeavor for our veterans. I got way more out of this than I put in and I think you will too. This past Saturday I had the honor of accompaning a group of WWII and Korean War vets on a flight to visit their memorial, Tomb of the Unknown, and other veteran sights in DC. As a Guardian I was priveledged to help make their trip a great memory. We had a 92 year old and a nearly 90 female WWII Marine--drove a truck so some guy could be on the frontline. Some of tbhe tales they all can tell will amaze you. Check out www.honorflight.org and see if you can join a group in your area. If you can't afford to pay your way maybe you can spare some money to help them cover their costs--the trips are free for the vets. Like I said at the start, don't thank me, thank a vet by helping Honor Flight to honor them.1 point

First, watch the movie "The Book of Eli." Then, pack a small Bible, and tuck a small U.S. Constitution inside. Someone will have to put it all back together again, and it might come down to you.1 point

Hmmm, well, granted, I've never been to that guys training class, but I've had Colt Defenders in 9mm and 45 and a Kimber Ultra Carry in 40. None ever malfunctioned as shown even after multiple range trips. I don't doubt the guy's familiarity, but I do discount blanket statements... every time. Mac1 point

I got this in and knew it was going to get a silencer in some way shape or form. I just couldn't decide on whether to keep the 10.5" barrel or use a shorter barrel. Well after some testing I decided to go ahead and use a short barrel. The barrel here is right over 4". That way everything I shoot will stay subsonic. No more buying expensive subsonic only ammo. I still need to but not for this gun. Without the suppressor: And with the suppressor: It is just a little longer than the factory barrel. And the weight is close as well. Makes for a very handy and extremely quiet package. The red dot mount is a temporary one to check accuracy and it seems pretty accurate so far. I hope it is as accurate as the factory barrel. If not it will get another barrel with a match chamber. I also installed an overtravel stop and swapped the factory trigger spring with a lighter one. And none of this required any permanent modifications to the gun. Dolomite1 point

I think ole dolomite could suppress a sling shot and reduce the pull of the rubber band by forty percent. David i think you'd love that set up on his pistol. And i still get chubbed up over that fully you let me fondle a while back. I need to hit the Powerball so i can get one.1 point

Really liking the way that looks with the muzzle brake. You do very good work. Are you a craftsman by trade or are these skills you have picked up as a hobby? Either way, big thumbs up. Looks killer.1 point

You do some very odd, yet interesting things. Thanks for sharing. I didn't know Cricket made a left handed action. I'm surprised it isn't available on the rifles.1 point

Look at stainless steel media and tumbler . Will clean pockets. SS wont wear out. Not cheap to get started but nothing worth having is. Yes you have to dry it after you use SS but spread it out and let it dry while you do something else.1 point

I've had a couple of .380s, including a Sig230. I was never happy with the round and ultimately I ended up with a Colt Agent .38spl., which I've had for over 10 years now. It's 16oz (empty) and is very accurate and never has a problem with extraction. A good friend of mine was looking for a new pistol after getting her HCP. I steered her toward either a LCR .38spl or a S&W 442. After much research she purchased the LCR. Revolvers go bang every time. I've never had one fail on me and I've had quite a few. Can't say the same about .380 autos. They ain't sexy, but sexy ain't what I'm looking for in a small concealable pistol. I got a wife for that!1 point
