  5. About as a reliable news source as MSNBC. I'm glad that a news outlet is presenting another side, but you can't counter or disprove press accounts with other press accounts. It all is suspect.

  6. Right. The grinder method to reduce the spring tension on the mag release worked great. That with some careful polishing makes it feel like a buttery smooth mechanism. I think the other area I focused on was the safety, which he provided great tips on smoothing. I did not know he had a DVD, I will look into it.

  7. rferizano@gmail.com lilmf2000@hotmail.com There are his email addresses to block.... this dope has been harassing me since last week. I have a Stoeger Cougar up for sale and he is rambling on to me about how I bought a gun made in a Muslim country, and of course, I am a Baptist B*stard Thief. It is quite amusing. He told me "You are charging too much for that Turkish piece of crap you Baptist Thief" and replied back "Funny, I get the same comment from the guys when I am pimping out your mother." That got him riled up.

  9. Koto used to be my favorite, but they were slipping before they moved and it hasn't gotten any better. Ken's is pretty good. Fujiyama is probably the best I have had recently. It is reasonably priced (as sushi goes) and very good. Sushi is very subjective in my experience, so I wouldn't rule many places out. Kobe and Goten are the only places I would caution you against. They are just too expensive for what you get. Nothing wrong with the food, but not worth the premium in my opinion.

  11. I just went to one of these and sold my full size 220. Magiccarpetrides on here carries one also. I don't think the Defender is on par with the 220. Any time you go to less than Commander size in 1911 platform there are issues. Mostly to do with the recoil system. Not to get a debate started, it is a well know issue with officer size pistols. I'm sure some here have had no issues. The 220 is a little wider and weighs a bit more. The Colt is 7 round where the Sig is 6 round. The SIG can be had SAO or DA/SA. I have carried both. About the same to me. But the dead set reliability of the SIG out weighs any thing I have ever owned by Colt beside one of their revolvers.

  12. Don't have any evidence to back me up here. But I'd think the sig would be a bit wider than the defender, and the overal height and length similar. I'm basing this on the 220 I have and thing that the Sig is a pretty massive firearm, whereas the 1911 platform tends to be a little more sleek and slender. But as I said, this is just an uneducated guess.

  14. I am on the end of a street that passes through a subdivision. About 20 years ago, I built the house, and very quickly put up a ham radio tower on my hill-top lot. The HOA nazis got bad butt-hurt over it, and harrassed me, threatened suits, grumbled about me among my neighbors. I tolerated it for about 1-1/2 yrs until getting tired of it, whereupon I pointed out that we were outside the HOA boundary by over 100 yd. The developer had never incorporated my section. Oops. Yeah. I *had* done my homework before purchase. I still periodically get flyers asking for HOA dues.

  15. Is seeing a holstered handgun grounds for a traffic stop? As I was leaving the local steak n shake I opened my door and re holstered my glock 23. I then got into my truck and put my seatbelt on and pulled out pf the parking lot. After I got onto the highway no more than 1 minute after I pulled out pf the parking lot I see blue lights flashing behind me. I pull my vehicle over and grab my wallet beside me and prepare to show my carry permit and license. The officer stepped out with his weapon drawn and told me to get out with my hands on my head. I obliged.... he instructed me to slowly walk back towards his voice, I obliged once again. When I got to the back pf my truck the officer disarmed me, unloaded the gun and latest it on his hood. I asked why he pulled me over he said because he saw the gun at the restaurant. I then informed him that I had my carry permit and was not doing anything illegal. He asked why I was out so late with a gun on me. I replied, its really not any of your business but if you must know I just got off work and I carry my gun wherever legal. I then asked if seeing a HOLSTERED handgun was grounds for a stop. He then handed my unloaded weapon back and harshly said you need to get out of here before you piss me off. I asked for his name and told him I would be filing a complaint with his supervisor tomorrow and then I left. Was I in the right here? Were my actions as they should have been? 16. Nothing. I thought it would be obvious that what it does have to do with is your statement where you said... I think arresting someone "based on sensationalized pressure from the press" is stupid, dangerous and a affront to our liberty - I believe that people should be arrested because and ONLY because the evidence justifies it and never because the media turns a situation into a circus. Is that some sort of radical view now? The two cases I referenced (and there are many more that I could have) I cited to show just how dangerous and stupid it is to arrest people based on sensationalist media. No matter how guilty anyone thinks Zimmerman is; this case needs to be handled on facts; not sensationalist media stories and not because Sharpton and Jackson want him crucified.

  17. Really? You think that people should be arrested based on "sensationalized pressure from the press" IF it accomplishes something you happen to think needs to be accomplished? I remember some Duke lacrosse teem members who were arrested based a great deal on sensationalized pressure from the press. I remember some young black men who were arrested for raping Tawana Brawley because of sensationalized pressure from the press. How about we only arrest people based on EVIDENCE. Legitimate press where facts, ALL the facts are presented or a cover-up uncovered...yeah...that's good...that's one of the major functions of a legitimate press. Sensationalized stories that include some facts and leave other facts conveniently out of the story (so as to puss an already formed opinion) are another matter.

  19. I haven't shot at a public range since I left Kansas 5 years ago, and, being primarily a black powder/muzzle loading guy, seldom had to worry about it then. BUT, the one time it did happen (when my best friend and I were pumping rounds through our lever guns), I simply turned to the guy and said, "Hey, I really appreciate you picking that stuff up for us, but we've only got about 200 more rounds and we were just gonna' grab it all at once when we got done. If you want, you can just dump it in my ammo can - that's what I usually do." He mumbled a crestfallen "Oh, okay..." and dumped our brass into my ammo can and left. All you gotta' do is kill 'em with kindness!
