  3. I listen to 8-10 hours of both left and right talk radio while at work (almost all on Sirius/XM), and I'm convinced that the right is overly concerned with social issues like gay marriage, abortion, religion, etc. I'm also convinced that instead of minding their own business, this will cause the Republican party to lose more and more elections over time, eventually making themselves the third-party. I've always considered myself to be a Republican, but I've found myself drifting away, as of late. We, as a country have many problems, but the queers and baby-killers aren't even remotely close to the top of that list. Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2

  4. Dear rich Republicans…. Please pay the bill to have that video run on prime time TV several times a day until the November election. Since you obviously didn’t spend a lot of money finding someone to run in this election. Thank you, Middle Class Working Man

  7. While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher, whose hand was caught in the squeeze gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Obama and his role as our president. The old rancher said, 'Well, ya know, Obama is a 'Post Turtle''. Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him, what a 'post turtle' was. The old rancher said, 'When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a 'post turtle'. The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so he continued to explain. "You know he didn't get up there by himself, he doesn't belong up there, he doesn't know what to do while he's up there, he's elevated beyond his ability to function, and you just Wonder what kind of dumb ass put him up there to begin with." Best explanation I've heard yet

  8. So basically the Marines are purchasing $1875 1911's for 6% of it's total force. I'd expect that for that price that these pistols will not be Mil-Spec, but in fact hand fitted custom pistols for Marines with extensive training for CQB. Just like how SWAT teams carry different weapons than a regular officer. The FBI SWAT team doesn't carry Glocks, Sigs or any other approved duty pistols. They carry custom 1911's.

  12. They could have picked an old Vietnam vet with an eye twitch, and it would have been an improvement over what we have now. Abortion, homos, vaginas, and the 1% don't matter so much right now. Business growth matters. You can't accomplish that by building windmills, choking oil production, and all the bureaucratic clogs that are in place now. Romney may actually be the perfect guy. Firing dead weight is his specialty.

  14. I think the OP's comment was about how a business "hid" their sign. There is a concern among many of us that a business will go out of its way to make the sign as hard to see as possible. The state congress needs to fix this by correcting the current law with a clear understanding of the type & location of the sign (as the old law did). wd-40 - - - This was never about you. So as an attempt to bring this discussion back on topic before it goes beyond outrageous..., I think its time to bring out the "Big Toe" himself...., SFC Hulka! Dave, this is for you!

  16. To fully disassemble a classic 1911 (Series 70) the only place you need a tool is when you remove the mag release, requires something akin to a small flat bladed screw driver. Some 1911s come with guide rods that rquire an allen wrench or paperclip to get the thing fully disassembled. I've never disassembled a Series 80 with whatever is akin to the Schwartz device. I'll have to do that today. To fully disassemble a M&P you need a roll pin punch and hammer. And when you fully disassemble a M&P be very careful when you remove the sear, there is a tiny spring under the plunger that puts pressure on the sear. Also, if your M&P has the manual thumb safety be careful of that spring also, it is tiny and has pressure on it. I know, I launched one at the M&P Armorer's course and we never did find that one. It is easier to put the sear spring and sear plunger back in with a small tweezers. Also on the M&P when you remove the rear sight make sure you pay attention to orientation of the disk that rests on the spring which puts pressure on the striker safety block. Convex side down.

  18. As I wouldn't open carry I to a theater because of obvious sensitivities, I see nothing wrong here. The police admitted that the sign was not obvious so therefore it's not proper, per the statute. The police acted, because just like any unposted buisness, the carrier can be asked to leave.

  19. Heard a guy say the other day, "Fcuk man, nobody gives a cr*p about that stuff anymore, so why should I?!!" I just looked at him and said, "I dunno... Maybe just to let the rest of the world know that you're not nobody?" Bottom line, neither common courtesy, nor common sense are all that common anymore. Those of us who were raised up to have and display both are obviously in the minority in this day and age. But you know something? That's a minority I will proudly claim as my heritage and continue to work at until the day I die.

  20. I'm sure I don't see every posting. I know of two that I've missed. I carry everywhere I go. Why would I stop carrying when I go to the movies? If anything, the recent situation illustrates that the movie theater is a prime target for mass shooters. I don't understand all the hate on these guys. Sounds to me like they were doing the same thing most of us normally do. They didn't see the sign? So what?

  21. I don't understand why some are criticizing the HCP holders. No charges and the quote from officers is revealing. "Police said the theater sign showing that weapons are prohibited was not large enough to be seen easily, so officers advised that it should be made more visible."

  22. Let's clear something up here. I fully support your right to post. I get that sometimes it's a decision motivated by finances, insurance rates say. However, we all here know that it won't stop a criminal. The people MOST likely to cause a situation by accident are generally the ones who will carry right past your sign anyway. I do grant that anyone can have an accident, and that if no legal guns walk in your door, you will not have an accidental shooting involving a legal gun. The thing is you seem to be defensive about your decision. Some people here have been a bit overboard I think in jumping your case. But lets be honest here. You are asking your customers to give up the majority of their ability to defend themselves and trust you to cover that slack. Not likely to fly with this crowd.

  23. Some thoughts. Some people kill courtesy and respect. Guy on talk radio has caller call him mister. Host says, don't call me mister, my dad is mister so in so. Just killed someone trying to show respect. Also, I've learned to give rude people the benefit of the doubt. No telling what they have been going through that day. Maybe a loss of a loved one. There are tons of inexcusable rude, disrespectful jerks out there, no doubt. On a positive note. I stopped to get gas in my truck one day. A somewhat elderly lady pulled up beside me at the opposite pump. She was dressed very nicely, dress, shoes, all. I asked if she would let me pump her gas seeings how she was so nice and clean, and after all I was in my work clothes. She allowed me to pump her gas. Afterward she humbly thanked me and then informed me she was on the way to her husbands funeral. Now this lady was in no way rude to me, but you just never know what kind of day someone is having. All the more reason to be nice and respectful to everyone, even the rude.

  24. I have a solution for this. Just stop going to posted movie theaters. If they think that they need to take my ability to defend myself then I think I need to keep my money.

  25. Just don't lose that little butt tool thing to field strip it. You don't need a tool with a 1911. It's not my first personal choice, but the 1911 has a long history of being the "right handgun" for THAT gig. Semper Fi.

  26. Don't forget Mitt was in a very liberal state and surroundings when he made some asinine decisions. This makes it even more critical that we fill the house and senate with real conservatives. Unlike BHO I don't care so much about what MR did in the past, it's what he's going to do in the future. Oh Shoot is correct, Mitt is the best we are going to be able to do during this time in history. I can almost imagine that people were saying the same things about Reagan. Mitt needs his chance, BHO has screwed his up royally.

  27. If BHO gets another term, there will never be a more conservative candidate than Romney with a chance to win, at least until The Crash. The Dems will tip the balance for their perpetual on-the-teat voting majority as things slide further and over 50% are beholden to the fed. If Romney gets in, there's a chance for more conservative presidents down the road, even one to defeat Romney himself after four years, or at least to quicken the conservative pace after 8. - OS

  34. I've considered it a great deal and will continue to do so probably right up until I pull my car into the parking lot at the poll. It seems harder for me than it does for some I guess but I'm having a he'll of a time wrapping my mind around what the big difference between Obama and Rommney really are. Like I said in another thread ones a sh$& sandwich, the others a soggy sh$& sandwich with mustard. I dont know I think my problem boils down to wanting what's right for our country and I honestly believe both are damn bear as bad as each other. Maybe I'll have mine with mustard, maybe I'll order the soup and see what they bring me, I just don't know.

  37. Will you settle for rules from agencies under his thumb? Chinese firearms and ammunition ban was extended. Korean stocks of US Garands and carbines banned from brokering to US Multiple long gun purchases reporting instituted in border states. Of course Fast and Furious is so blatantly obvious as to intent, it doesn't even need proof. - OS

  38. One of the commenters asked why "assault rifles" are being sold to civilians. Shows a true lack of understanding of the intent of the 2nd Amendment. It's not, and never was, about owing lots of guns or cool guns. It's about the populace being able to resist a tyrannical government, specifically back when armies used the same firearms as farmers.
