  1. My opinion is based on the fact that the first part is done under strict training and supervision. The latter is done with neither.

  2. Me: "What's the first rule of gun safety?" Wife: "Don't talk about gun safety?" Me: *face palm* Gotta love her though, I came home today and she had surprised me with a new Glock 17.

  3. I am an admitted Glockaholic and reloader. I have about 30,000 rounds of reloads through my Glock 19...I currently load 5.7 grains of Unique with a 124 gr. fmj bullet and standard small pistol primers...if I'm using magnum primers I reduce the powder to 5.5 grains.... When I had a Glock 21 I loaded 5.7 grains of W 231 with a 230 gr fmj. I probably put 15,000 rounds of my reloads through it. Confession: I did run a double charge of W231 through my G 21...that's 11.4 grains (only one second of focused inattention while reloading...Lesson: concentrate on the task at hand and not the kids!). The "kaboom" blew the plastic cover off the trigger, bulged the slide, split the frame, and blew the mag apart. I was not injured and even got my hit on the target. I contacted Glock, and told them what happened and the what the load was. Even though it was totally my fault and Glock warns against reloads...They wanted the pistol to examine and replaced the G 21 for me at no charge. That's part of the reason I remain a confessed Glockaholic...that and the incredible shootability and reliability I've experienced with my Glocks.

  4. If I came home with a 20-something blond chick my wife would surprise me with a handgun . . .

  6. 5. You run the sugar for your morning coffee through a powder measure. 4. When cooking Italian, you always ask the wife what the OAL of the rigatoni noodles should be. 3. You complain to the casino when you pull the handle of a slot machine and coins come out instead of cartridges. 2. When your date says she wants to powder her nose, you ask if it's extruded, ball or flake. And the Number One annoying habit of reloaders: You ask the cops if you can have the brass at a homicide scene.

  7. I know younger people have a hard time drinking responsibly but I'm sorry, if you can go to a foreign land and kill people. If you can operate multi million dollar pieces of equipment. If you are willing to fight, kill and die for my freedoms, then when you're not on duty, Bottoms Up brother!

  8. I didn't learn to drink responsibly till probably 24, and I started at 17. I see nothing productive in being able to drink a beer. I know our young soldiers see and do some very tough things, but I don't think alcohol is any kind of reward.

  9. In TN you must be 21 to purchase or consume alcohol legally. I believe I have read that the human brain does not settle down and finish it growth type business until about 25 years of age. Until that happens people are effected more strongly by alcohol. Maybe I have it wrong. There is no way I would vote to allow 18 year olds to drink. When I was 18 I was legally allowed to go to bars or purchase 3.2 beer. I know that made me do stupid stuff. Not liquor or 6% beer mind you by watery 3.2% beer. I appreciate those who serve, but imho that does not make it right for them to drink. Young people make enoug stupid decisions when sober. I am not so sure that being 21 is old enough

  10. I have no problem lowering the drinking age to 18. If you are old enough to vote, old enough to serve in the military, old enough to enter into a legally binding contract, and old enough to go to prison, then you are old enough to drink legally.

  11. Sorry for the late reply, been busy at work. I asked simply to see what type of carrying that is considered to be. I do it because it is comfortable and convenient. I was in security for a while and got used to a holster at the 3 o clock, and it is just what I like. I am not concerned with being made, although I will confess, I do get concerned in crowded places that a kid will she it and yell or cause some kind of scene, but it has not happened yet lol Get a smaller gun??? That is like saying "My pants are too tight, I think I will cut 4 inches off the tip of my penis..." LOL .

  12. Here's a "gunsmithing" one. The trigger cross pin in one of my 10/22's keeps creeping out to one side just enough to where trigger starts failing to reset. Polymer housing so I can't stake it. Tried locktitle, doesn't grab on the polymer. Don't really want to use epoxy or something. Friend suggested fingernail hardener. So far so good, looks like it's gonna work. - OS

  13. It's Texas! He's entirely liable to get the votes for the taxes he called for. He's probably just verbalized the sentiments of his County. I wouldn't suggest any force try to invade Texas. It doesn't end well for the invaders.

  14. Yep. The whole thing has become like a pay-per-view 'event.' Instead of debates, the candidates from each side should just step to the middle of 'the squared circle', microphone in hand, and declare (in as loud a voice and as over-the-top manner as they can manage) that they - and not the 'other side' - will win Electionmania 2012, BROTHER! And the sad thing is that so many people - just like many of the fans of 'professional' wrestling - believe that all the nonsense is real and that their candidate is the 'good guy' who is incapable of lying, etc.

  16. Low on craftsmanship, but a decent piece of engineering. It took me awhile to warm up to them. They're not as artful as any of my other pistols/revolvers. But, they always work, and my pants tend to stay up longer

  17. I was hoping this would be a college football thread, not a Notre Dame thread. My favorite teams are WV and whoever is playing Michigan. I'll be yelling "Roll Tide" for the first time in my life on September 1.

  19. In my always humble opinion, accusations that wild should be accompanied by specific citations from credible sources; not someone's blog repeating what someone heard from someone else.Anyway, in the story you reference, you failed to mention that the RP delegated were out of control and disrupting the convention...it would seem that for many RP followers, when they can't win at the ballot box they see nothing wrong with forcing their will on others with procedural tricks and if that doesn't work, rebellion and intimidation. I suspect their icon, Ron Paul, finds these acts just as obnoxious as I do and if he doesn't then he has no business being the President of anything.

  23. I don’t feel bad for the victims, I feel bad for us. Especially those that face these guys the next time they decide to shoot someone in a robbery that may not be dirt bags. I don’t see how the Judges that did this can live with it. Well I do; it’s just a game to them.

  25. What makes a rifle a Sniper rifle? The guy {or gal} behind the trigger. It could be a worn out Stevens Crack shot .22 loaded with shorts and be a sniper rifle in the hands of the right mind.

  27. vujade; "I don't like to carry guns in a gun case. Nothing says I have a rifle here than a big box of a case with camo designs.Ever since the old movie with Antonio Banderas where there was a guy with guns in a guitar case, I've always thought that was a cool way to keep a gun." Kind of reminds me of my buddy with his high dollar Harley ... He bought a full black cover for it with large white letters on the side, HONDA.

  29. 1> You will have MORE control over your temp's. More importantly, I can tell you from experience; A lyman pot will out last half a dozen hot plates and will reach working temps faster. 2>THe smelting process is NASTY. When I smelt weights and whatnot down, I do it in no less than 100lb sessions. I prefer more than that. I wear a respirator and take extra precautions. It's nasty stuff all the paint, dip spit, grease and funk on a wheel weight. Casting into clean ingots streamlines the process and just makes better use of your time. You will get sick of casting really quick if you melt a pot of weights, clean all the crap out, cast bullets for just the one pot worth, then repeat. When I cast I might go through dozens of ingots before I am done. Also, who wants that nasty crud in the pot that you make bullets from? To easy to transfer contaminants. Did I mention that melting wheel weights is kinda nasty? 3>With the rare exception, I do not water drop much of anything. I DO water drop 9x19 most of the time as well as my 325g bullet I use for 45 Colt. BOth of those are driven to MUCH higher pressures than any other pistol bullet. I cast a 170g lyman 358429 semi wadcutter for my 38 special out of pure lead. soft as butter. It's moving less than 900 fps so there is NO need for hard lead. As far as not sizing, I don't size half what I shoot unless I know the mold to cast an out of round bullet OR I have to crimp a gas check on. If it will fit in the throat and will seat in the case without deforming the brass, it will shoot.
