1. I don't like to post faces, but in this case I have to. I started teaching my daughter how to shoot at the age of 4. We started with a suppressed .22, but she refused because daddy didn't shoot one. A suppressed AR in 300 Whisper became her trainer rifle. She killed her first and second deer at 7 with the same Whisper. Her third at eight. Last season she graduated to a suppressed 308 and killed a nice ten point. All the shots were under 200 yards. She has never shot a non suppressed rifle so I was a little nervous. I decided to take her shooting at a grand this morning. The gun is a Savage F-Class in 6mm BRX, 107 SMKs, Benchmark 30" barrel, and a 20x Leupold. The barrel was threaded and chambered by Spook and installed it about three weeks ago. The rifle belongs to a friend. My F-Class gun has a little more recoil than I want her to experience. One group is amazing and almost unbelievable, but I have video. Enjoy. 3. Always on the prowl for storage options for loaded ammo; I was in Lowe's the other night and saw these brand new paint cans. $5 each, you can't buy an ammo can for that. So I grabbed one to play with. They seal up tight, obviously, they're mean to keep paint from drying out. An adventurous soul might even put a thin bead of RTV around the rim. Furthermore, one could smear a little paint on the outside and no one would really pay them any attention stacked in the garage. Anyway, you can get 1,115 rounds of .40 S$W in one if you take the time to stack them and add a cardboard divider between layers. Just thought I'd share

 4. Maybe its just me but I've been hunting deer since I was old enough to carry a gun and eating deer since I was a baby. Im not worried about it and never thought about it. I would imagine that most of the "contaminated" meat came from the wound area. I dont take my deer to a processor anyway. I do everything myself so I know what cut meats I have and what area they come from. I try and stay away from the major wound area.

 5. I Pledge Allegiance I Promise to be faithful and true (Promise my loyalty) to the flag to the emblem that stands for and represents of the United States all 50 states, each of them individual, and individually represented on the flag of America yet formed into a UNION of one Nation. and to the Republic And I also pledge my loyalty to the Government that is itself a Republic, a form of government where the PEOPLE are sovereign, for which it stands, this government also being represented by the Flag to which I promise loyalty. one Nation under God, These 50 individual states are united as a single Republic under the Divine providence of God, "our most powerful resource" (according to the words of President Eisenhower) Indivisible, and can not be separated.   (This part of the original version of the pledge was written just 30 years after the beginning of the Civil War and demonstrates the unity sought in the years after that divisive period in our history) with Liberty The people of this Nation being afforded the freedom to pursue "life, liberty, and happiness", and Justice And each person entitled to be treated justly, fairly, and according to proper law and principle, for All. And these principles afforded to EVERY AMERICAN, regardless of race, religion, color, creed, or any other criteria.  Just as the flag represents 50 individual states that can not be divided or separated, this Nation represents millions of people who can not be separated or divided.

 21. As Shaun said.....   I'm 58 and I have been eating deer, rabbit, squirrels, ducks, quail, doves, wild pigs and just about anything else that can be shot and eaten since I was old enough to "gum it". I am sure I have swallowed more lead that I care to want to know. I will however, continue to do so. You posted some good info, and it's certainly something to think about, but it's too late into my life to worry about it now.   Oh, and, don't get me started on how bad "country ham and bacon" is for us!    Dave

 23. I'm with y'all. The new format is great. Now it's a show about guns, shooting, and marksmanship...not politics, alliances, and backstabbing. Plus, I'm very happy about who went home first. One of my least favorite competitors from all the seasons.

Now reality has set in and I figure what I already have on hand will last quite a while so I don't even look anymore. As soon as everyone else wakes up and realizes the sky is not falling they will come to their senses as well.

 31. I find it amazing how people pick and choose which parts of the Bible support their views on certain subjects, while denying other parts.   I also find some of the statements made, whether they are in jest or not simply appalling.   I would ask everyone to remember that everything posted online is 'out there' forever.  As a forum dedicated to guns and gun related topics we as gun owners should represent ourselves in the best possible manner (especially in this political climate), even online.   I'm not saying you should not express your opinions / beliefs, but some of the comments left by members in this thread and the other related one have been downright foul.   Just a thought all.

 34. The horse has been beaten into burger meat in the other thread, but the only ones losing out are thy kids. If adults have their head so far up their cornhole where they they think it's a good idea to shut down an entire troop just because a homosexual young person is allowed to join without hiding their true nature, then those adults don't deserve the title of scout master. 36. This is great news for all the people that worked so hard. But is funny that the deciding factor came from a very unlikely source; the 7th Circuit Court. The 7th has always ruled that the 2nd was not an individual right, but fell in line once the SCOTUS ruled it is. This legislation also appears to make a car a “Safe Harbor”. A secured gun could be kept in a car even if it’s parked in a prohibited place. Unless if by “secured” they mean unloaded; that’s always been legal other than Chicago.

 39. I think anyone who generalizes how marketable a certain tech focus is hasn't interviewed many candidates lately and seen how many people throw technologies that they've had minimal exposure to on their resumes.  A true subject matter expert on something like VMware or Citrix is hard to find and they command big money.  I can offer myself as a case in point and I don't work for peanuts, and we've had a hell of a time finding good engineers with strong skill sets in their self-professed subject matter.  Some of the interviews that I've helped conduct lately nearly made me lose the desire to live.   Good luck on the Exchange hunt.  My company pays our Exchange guys so well that just about no one in the southeast can afford to hire them away.

 41. "Warning shots" are for TV and movies.   Oregon is becoming a place for whimps and idiots. That aside, I'm not so sure that this veteran would have been treated any differently in Tennessee.   if you are justified in giving a "warning shot" then you are justified in shooting to stop the threat; if the threat hasn't reached the point where deadly force is justified then neither is a warning shot. The fact that he gave a warning shot indicates to me this veteran perhaps wasn't sure that this bugler was enough of a threat to justify deadly force and if the veteran who was there wasn't sure then why would the police be???   For discussion: https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/ccm-columns/its-just-the-law/warning-shots/

 43. What this state doesn't need any more of are politicians who wouldn't know an unalienable right if it crawled into bed with them and bit them in the ass.   Haslam, Ramsey, Harwell and more than I have time to name are worthless politicians and unworthy to be in any elected office...these people make me sick to my stomach that I ever once identified myself as a Republican.
