  1. Every Marine a Rifleman.   My Marine son Matt has just been selected for Gunnery Sergeant!   Well earned and overdue, in my opinion.   He and his wife are expecting shortly, as well.   Oooo-Rah! Semper Fi! Glory Hallelujah!

  3. Always buy your dog food in the plastic woven bags, not paper. Never cut them open. Take the time to unstitch them. When you save several, you can use some duct tape to make some very good tarps or even tents. I have a buddy who saves horse feed bags for me. Yes you can buy them at harbor freight but that's everyone's problem nowadays. MAKING things yourself teaches you to use your hands. The more you make yourself, the more things make sense to you. Take a man who makes everything he can by himself and you'll see a man who can make things work in a pinch. Even if he's never done a certain thing before. The best survival tools you have were given to you by Gods design. One sits between your ears and the other two are attached to your wrists. Exercise them and you'll be much better for it. A so called survivalist that bought all his kit off the Interwebz will be long dead before the man who actually practices bushcraft the old fashioned way.

  7. The story doesn't really mention much information other than the dog died. People are going to assume that he was left in vehicle that was not running and the windows up. I would guess with him being an experienced handler his vehicle was running but died. Still should have periodically checked on him. If it is found he was reckless and negligent he should be charged and disciplined. I am a k-9 handler and I'm very protective about my partner as are most handlers I know. If I have to be out of the vehicle away from him I make sure to make checks on hm and tn ensure the vehicle is running with air circulating. Would be nice to have one of those k-9 alarm systems to warn the handler of excessive temperature but many departmemts wont pay for them.

  8. The anchorman on WBIR just declared that someone is suspected of stealing a LEO's service pistol from the LEO's home while the LEO was on vacation. According to the talking head, the pistol was a 44 millimeter Glock. Now, I am no fan of Glock. They just generally aren't for me. However, if they are now making a 44mm, I might have to get me one of them. Should be just the thing for SD against random, roving T-Rex. Do y'all think limpwristing would be a problem?

  9. "The Mogwai" may look like a small furry dog, but in actuality is a very close relative of the Ewoks from the Forest Moon of Endor in the Star Wars movies.   And, "Black Rifle" is an Ancient Heirloom of the Clan of Graycrait of the Village of Clark, in the Province of Tenn-ess-ee, near the border of the fearsome Ken-Tucks.   Though small in size, Ewoks, and their cousins, including "The Mogwai," are very smart and fearsome warriors.   Some believe "The Mogwai" is skilled in 13 forms of martial arts, is adept with almost all varieties of lethal weapons including barking and biting, and possesses great stealth capabilities when necessary. Also, "The Mogwai" reportedly can Kill You with its Mind; or its breath, if it gets close enough; or its tongue, by licking you to death.   All is not as it appears to be; appearances can be misleading, or even fatal for the naive.   Beware!

  13. Well everyone has made my point for me. I hold no grudge against gov employees. The notion of bonuses suggests doing something above and beyond or assisting an organization in achieving its goals. If the IRSs goals were to harass groups trying to gain 501c4 status then I suppose bonuses should be made all around. Otherwise don't expect extra money for doing your job. And most certainly don't expect bonuses when you work in a cost center and not a profit center. By definition all of government is a cost center. The bet you can hope to do in terms of costs savings as a .gov employee is to come in under budget and spend budgets wisely. There is no value creation in government. By definition there can't be since government exists only by obtaining money from the citizenry through taxes. And dont mistake my comments / Much of what government does is helpful and necessary - I.e. infrastructure, police, fire, etc.

  20. Your first sentence is kind of ignorant.  Seriously?  What about the women that get raped in their own house?   Serena is not right imho.  A women should be able to get drunk at a party without getting raped.  I just don't understand blaming the victim.   Saying the victim was partially responsible is excusing part of the rapist actions.  That is just not right.

  22. I may be a little biased, but I agree that a $400 safe won't do much to protect your valuables. Safes in this price range are usually lightwieght, China made boxes with little  real fire or theft protection. However, if that's all you can afford, then go ahead. I believe that it will atleast keep your firearms out of the hands of kids and maybe even a few less dedicated snatch and grab thieves. As gun owners, we have an obligation to secure our weapons. A $400 safe will at the very least show that you attempted to secure your guns. If this is your only option, I would recommend bolting it to the floor. A lightwieght safe that is not bolted down is nothing more than a convenient box for the bad guys to carry your stuff out in. I'm not a big guy, but I have single-handedly moved a lot of big, heavy safes. If I can do it, so can the bad guys. If the bad guys have any gumption at all, they can load a safe into the back of a truck in just a few minutes. For what it's worth, my advice on buying a safe is to get the heaviest one you can afford, have it delivered discretely, place it in an area where it's not easily seen, don't make a habit of showing off, and bolt it down.   Some other considerations would be how the safe is constructed... -I like a solid plate steel door- not a composite door. Although a composite door appears thick, it's usually just 2 layers of thin      guage steel sandwiched around a layer of fire wall. As consumers, we're supposed to open the door and be awed by the door thickness. In reality, those doors have very little steel in them. -Check for a reinforced or plate steel door perimeter. If you reach inside the safe along the body where the door meets and feel a raw edge of thin steel, you have a cheap safe. This is a vulnerable area on many safes and the bad guys know they can pry into the safe using the door as a pry point. They don't really pry the door off but rather pry the body away from the door, the end result is the same. -Check the fire rating tag. There should be 3 numbers associated with the rating. The temperature of the test, the duration of the test AND the internal temperature of the safe during the test. Many companies leave this last number off but, in my opionion, it's the most important number.    For some more info, you can check out the video page on my website at www.parkerssafesandvaults.com There you'll see guys breeching a safe without a reinforced door perimeter. You can also check out a safe made by Superior that's my top selling safe and an impressive safe for the money.

  24. It dumbfounds me that it's ok for schools to teach that "alternative lifestyles" are ok but anyone who stands for tradition values and ideas cannot teach their beliefs without getting in trouble. If I were in her class I would tell her no and if she said one word more I would tell her where to shove those ribbons and I would probably goto the Dean.

  26.   I have spent my entire adult life (17-34) so far in the military and I can tell you, respectfully, you do not have a clue as to what you are talking about.   Your comment about 18-25 year olds not understanding that their mortality is highly disrespectful to the ones who put themselves in danger every day, they know the cost of war and are fully willing to pay it with their lives if need be.  Many of them have lost friends and have have aged years in days from the stress and lessons of combat.  Yet they still continue on.   None of our troops are trained to be cannon fodder and trust me when I say that they ask a lot of questions, I know this from experience as a supervisor.  They are not mindless even after years of training.  They are trained to follow orders because hesitation and debate in combat can get people killed but they are not just robots.   About UAV pilots, there is much more to operating unmanned platforms than just fiddling with an XBox controller.  Also, women have been flying them since the beginning and are excellent combat pilots.  This debate isn't about combat pilots though.   As to the gear that we carry, it's all necessary.  I carried a 20ish lb radio in my 60-70 lbs of gear which I used to call attack aircraft and crush hajis.  The rest of the gear kept me alive and I wouldn't have left any of it behind when going on missions.  That a-hole in the rag may be comfortable but he also died hungry.  The discomfort from my gear was definitely a good pain.   I'm tired of people talking about the military like they know something when they have no experience.   Ok, rant over...

  27. Fellas, grab 5 males dogs and throw in one female in heat and tell me what happens? You already know, same thing will happen. This is the Guberments solution for Sexual Assaults. Throw them in closer proximity to the meat eaters and hope they can cut it.    Some can do it, some will get pregnant and joe will pay for it, some will yell rape. The Military is not a social experiment and they sure in hell ain't Starship Troopers. Type As need to left alone and let them do what they do and that's execute National Foreign Policy for the last 3-500 meters. Standards will come down and moral amongst the ranks will fall, especially amongst the Type As..

  33. It's fine. Most molds vary just a bit, you can switch alloys, even casting technique and temps can cause weight variations. It's more important to keep consistent. Also, be sure the bases are smooth and square. Other than that, run em!! Remember, typically cast lead will produce lower pressures than an equal weight copper condom (jacketed bullet). The resistance of forcing lead down a steel barrel is lower than forcing copper down your barrel. Btw, what's goofy!? I run that same boolit in some of my loads. I've had very good results from it. Good looking castings, but you have one problem that may not be readily apparent. Casting is an addiction and if you have the patience for it, you'll find equal or better accuracy at a fraction of the cost. If you catch the bug, you'll look around one day and there'll be a pile of molds where them stupid jacketed bullets used to be. Contrary to what the armchair experts say, in 99% of handgun cartridges; You can equal and often exceed the performance of a jacketed bullet. Take your 9mm there. You didn't mention your alloy but let me assume your using air cooled wheel weights. (No need to water quench). They will penetrate about as well as any FMJ and if you can find a load that gives no leading and accuracy up around 900fps, them buggers will expand pretty well. Totally different animal I know, but my 308 Winchester loads expand as well as any premium jacketed bullet out there. They will penetrate several milk jugs of water and they look like a small explosion went off inside them. Quite devastating. To boot, they'll shoot inside an inch at a hundred. All for less than $10 for fifty. Welcome to the dark side. We may be frowned on by the status quo and those who think they know better, but we have fun, cheaper and don't abuse our guns near as much.

  35. Heading to Florida next month for some fishing and hog hunting. I'm pumped! I found out today FYI, that Florida doesn't charge their residents for a fishing license if they are on food stamps. That's pretty cool and something all states should offer. Give the people a chance to feed themselves!   Cool thing about hog hunting there on private land is; you can use any weapon you want, day or night, spotlights, bait, feeders and 365 days a year...all FREE...no limit!   Listen to that TN, that's how you get rid of hogs!!!   We will be Shark, Cobia, Redfish and Sea Trout fishing by day, and hog hunting at night!!! I'm pumped!!   Dave S
