  1. Why don't we give Memphis away? Seems that might help the stats.

  2. BTW, Dolomite, I do strongly agree that the young parent-raised/enabled monster should be the one actually accountable.   But as it is playing out, the only person paying for the crime is the victims, especially the man who lost his family.

  6. If anybody near me needs to borrow one, I have an aluminum upper receiver block that pins in just like the nylon ones shown previously in the thread.  It rents at very low rates in the Franklin, TN area for beer, brass, or good company.  If you're now asking yourself whether or not you're good company, I prefer Guiness in the 16 oz. pub cans and shoot 9mm, 5.56, and .30-06.

  8. Being from NJ most of you have no idea of crime.TN is heaven compared to cities in NJ. One example is Camden, NJ which is/was the crime capitol of the country. I still believe NJ's biggest problem is gun control. Only the criminals have guns, not the law abiding citizen, that sucks.

  11. Who cares about his rehabilitation? He killed four people in a premeditated attack. He should be doing life in prison. The lack of punishment will only embolden this POS to do this again since there aren't consequences to his actions. That is evident by the crap he pulled prior to killing four human beings and wasnt punished for. This judge was clearly paid off. There is no other excuse for why he got away with this punishment free.

  15. Mine is waiting for me at home right now. Full report tonight. Edit: just awesome! I got some polymer flip up sights that are super light weight. Perfect for a light weight build I'm planning out in my mind. I also got an extended latch for a charging handle, once again perfect as I just don't like the mil spec ones after spoiling myself with a BCM. I already have a charging handle to instal it on also so that's one more part for a build. I got an AR receiver "plate". Not sure of the proper term but its the plate that holds the spring that holds the rearward takedown pin. The one I got has ambidextrous slots for a sling on either side of the receiver. Possibly best of all (for me anyway) is the lower receiver vise block. I've been putting off buying one for awhile, looks like that strategy paid off in the end. ;) A sincere and heartfelt thank you to my secret Santa. The gifts you gave are absolutely perfect and I will surely use and enjoy them. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Additional thanks go out to all those that make TGO what it is. Between the staff and the members, this IMO is THE best place to be on the web, period.

  17. Well my definition of a NeoCon is a conservative that promotes "democracy" and "national interest" by means of military force.  You often see similar views on domestic issues as well, support for law enforcement violations of the 5th Amendment, support for the War on Drugs, support for a big standing Army, and support for using the government to interfere in American's daily lives to 'protect' us...  While wanting to limit the Federal government, they believe the state governments have unlimited authority to regulate everything.   Mark Levin has in the past supported ideas that I would describe as NeoCon in nature...  Hannity on a regular basis supports the NeoCon ideology...  And the Weekly Standard is run by a bunch of NeoCons (who are big supporters of Mark Levins book), so anything they put their stamp of approval on concerns me a little bit.   I'm not saying that some of his proposed Amendments aren't good ideas...  Or if we could manage to get some ratified it would be a bad thing...  I'm saying that most of his amendments don't cover the real tyranny we see in our day to day lives...  It doesn't reduce the size of the Federal government to historic levels...  It doesn't re-establish many of the protections of rights we've lost over the years...   He's calling for a cap of federal spending at 17.5%, which is high, very high, the average since WWII has been 18%...  Historically our government lived off of 2-3% of GDP before FDR...  By leaving the spending so high, you doom Americans into paying 30-35% of their income in taxes forever....  The cap should be much lower.   The amendments don't require a balanced budget or prevent deficit spending...  which are the real problems that will soon ruin us as a nation....   You notice it doesn't deal with monetary policy at all either, like getting rid of the Federal Reserve?   Gun Sane, if you knew me, you'd know I'm not watching MSNBC ever ;)  FoxNEWS is a little too progressive for my tastes ;)   BTW, none of this really addresses the fact that once a Article 5 convention is called by the states, we loose complete control over what happens...  We can go in with these 11 Amendments and come out with 20 new ones that have nothing to do with these...   And in the Hannity interview he (Mark Levin) glosses over that part...  He asserts that we have nothing to fear because the state legislatures have to approve the Amendments...  but that isn't the case...  in the case of a convention Congress can hold ratifying convention(s) that bypass the legislatures entirely.    This isn't the way to fix the issues in Washington...  This road is a much quicker way to slide into tyranny.

  18. Memphis isn't the only problem. Take our once little quite town of Clarksville. Crime in general, gang crime and crime from some of our military (those here from Chicago, Memphis, New York and LA for example), has increased here ten fold since 1980 when I got here. Parts of Clarksville are getting very bad! And so are many cities in the state.   Dave

  32. I've got a PEPR with QD on an AR. Just make sure the tension adjusting doobers are in correct position as Peace mentions. Has been rock steady, and quite good at keeping zero when unmounted/remounted. I've since changed scope to a nice Nikon and some other stuff too, but still use the PEPR. - OS

  33. Don't know about the PEPR specifically, but I have a GG&G that is very similar that leaves plenty of room for my backup iron sights. Most mfgs. can tell you if your backups will fit and what height mount to buy based on the scope you're using. From what I've seen, the Magpul flip-up rear sight is most commonly the one that has fit issues as it's a bit larger. The eyepiece on my scope (Leupold 1.5-5 x 30mm) is 1.70 inches if that helps; there is no front bell so the eyepiece is the largest diameter portion of the scope. Here's a photo to give you an idea of what's working for me: ETA: I'm using the Midwest Industries low-profile flip-up rear sight. There's more clearance (4-5mm) than there appears to be in the pic.

  34. I love to read the Memphis comments whenever one of these threads comes up. Lets get rid of Memphis so that you can dispose of all of those silly old guns since you would now be in a crime free state. Why does anyone outside of Shelby County need a gun for anything but hunting?

  35. Have the Canon D60 and love it.  I do wish I had a better lense.  It is all, always about the glass.  Features are nice, but as far as cameras go, the quality matters in this order: 1) glass 2) sensor   As far as Images go: 1) Eye and "working knowledge" of the photographer (exposure, DOF, framing) 2) glass 3) sensor   I know a guy who has a D300 and does great work with it.   - what a fun, fun endeavor.  Good luck, and congrats to her once she gets it!!

  43. Thought it might happen again last spring when Burn All Toddlers First and the Federal Bureau of Incineration were looking for the brothers Tsarnaev (on the anniversary of Concord and Lexington no less).  It set a bad precedent to have armored vehicles rolling through neighborhoods and people forced out of their home at gunpoint.    But honestly, though, the only patriots in Boston anymore are the ones who play football.  Like most large Eastern cities, the citizens have willingly accepted less personal freedom and more statism.

  48. According to both the Federal District Court for Western Tennessee and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, Tennessee's misdemeanor domestic assault statute "is not categorically a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence" that rises to the level of violence necessary to prohibit gun possession. There is another Sixth Circuit case, United States v. McMurray, that found that Tennessee's aggravated assault statute also did not rise to the level of violence necessary, either. In essence, the Courts are saying that these Tennessee statutes criminalize very low level "physical force" that was not intended to be a gun prohibition conviction under Federal law. Tennessee allows conviction for simple touching that causes injury, without using "strong physical force." Basically, there appears to be a difference between what the federal law calls "violent" and what Tennessee calls "violent." Here's the Sixth Circuit opinion: http://www.ca6.uscourts.gov/opinions.pdf/12a0344p-06.pdf
