  2. My heart continues to go out to Americans who share the same convictions I do in relation to the direction our nation is headed. However, always stay true to your heart's convictions and your eyes on the Lord. This situation that our generation has been faced with is far from hopeless. As the anti freedom agenda is forced through our own media in a desperate attempt to create an illusion of false victories designed to create separation and fear among the true patriots of our nation. Rather than adopting the mentality of defeat I encourage everyone to hold firm to the river of truth just as our fore fathers chose to. Furthermore, reflect upon the adversities that our ancestors faced during the revolutionary and civil war one war ushering in the very constitution that I and so many other American patriots, to include our congressional officials, swore an absolute oath to uphold and defend; the other almost tearing our very nation in two. As Americans our history is replete with uncertainty and seasons that demanded nothing short of the upmost bravery and resolve that any man or woman could have been thrust into. In all of this I compel each American who may read or share this to remember what it means to be truly free and that the road to freedom is far from simple. As I stated before, our ancestors sealed their fate when they chose to fight against the strongest standing army of their time. Were they fearful? Most certainly! How can we know this? We can know this because just as you and I they were of flesh and blood. However, they understood that not only their freedom was at stake but the generations to come. Which is why they willingly chose to risk all of what they knew and held dear to create a future that was even greater and established a government that began most assuredly with, “We the people”. As one of our early president’s stated so eloquently, “We here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain, that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom; and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

  5.   Nope. Unless something turns it around, and I believe that will take the systemic financial and societal breakdown of The Big Pain, the US will continue to sink into liberal socialism. The vicious circle is now well embedded. As more and more sink into poverty because of lib policy, they in turn must rely on lib handouts, which induces them to vote to keep the cause of their demise in power.   I think the country will go totally south before we're all in the same boat as NY, CT, NJ (or worse) gun wise -- but if it doesn't, we'll eventually look about like the Aussies in regard to gun rights, and likely worse. Canada will look like conservative gun heaven by comparison.   It's not even really about the guns, it's about control of the populace. Once they have control of your pocketbook, the only thing really left in the way of that are the guns.   And of course I hope I'm dead wrong.   - OS

  8. Unless I’m missing something it’s just you. Scratch Illinois off your list. They will be carrying this year. Look at the 7th Federal District ruling and the subsequent Illinois Supreme Court Ruling. Some states have passed legislation that they will not recognize any Federal bans. We have had more positive court rulings and gun legislation in the past five years than we have had in the past 50. I’m not saying to relax, but the anti gunners are losing their battles.

Really made me feel good that there was a fellow gun enthusiast, that freely gave something, and didn't expect anything in return! Just proves that there still are some generous people, that will do something nice for someone else, just to do it without any personal profit motive. Thank you Dolomite...and if we're ever at one of my lunch places, at the same time, lunch is on me. Here's wishing you and yours the very best for the New Year ahead of us. Sidewinder

  17. With the ever-expanding and restrictive gun control measures happening all over the country, when is enough going to be enough? Will it ever?   As I read the seemingly endless stories about magazine restrictions, specific firearm bans, mandatory firearm registration, I can't help but wonder how and why The People are allowing this to happen. Is everyone else sitting here, thinking something like this cannot and will not happen to them? Thinking the restrictions won't become any more severe?   The top 10 most restrictive states have a combined population of roughly 112,000,000 (one-hundred-twelve-million). Many of these states also have the most money and voting power. With such a large percentage of the population living in some of the most restrictive states like New York, New Jersey, Illinois, California and the like, how do the rest expect to have a chance at stopping any further restrictions, much less rolling back any of the already implemented restrictions?    It seems the sharks are circling the boat, picking us off, one by one. One state here, one state there. The submission and complacency is a bit mind-boggling to me. Maybe it's just me.

  21. rugerla1 it's kinda late in the game but I live right over in MJ and have a grinder and all that stuff and space to do it. if you bring them we can butcher them in my garage. I'd be glad to help. If it's as cold as they say this weekend I'll even fire up a Redi-heater. I just hate for you to have to restrict the number you want to shoot just because of the cost of processing.

  25. Not much attention to this thread, so I figured I'd pick one up and evaluate it. Here you go.. Shipping Primary Arms ships fast. I literally had it overnight. Absolutely no complaints there. Packaging The outer box was adequate and the package had sufficient protection to keep from damaging the sight. Noteworthy enough, the package was freezing cold from riding in the back of the FedEx truck today, however it was clear of fog when I unboxed it here in the house. Here are some shots of the retail box: The feature list is shown in the second pic. Construction This optic is made from aircraft-grade aluminum and has a nice black anodizing. There were no noticeable defects in the finish. It was smooth and consistent everywhere. The battery compartment is double o-ring sealed to keep water out. The turret caps are also o-ring sealed. The flip-up style lens caps secure with a nice 'click' and seem to fit just right. Also, +1 for including a name brand (Energizer) lithium AA battery. The integrated riser and mount seem to be well constructed. They aren't LaRue mount quality, but more than adequate for securing the sight to the rifle. The included configuration co-witnesses (lower 1/3) with AR sights just fine. Performance This is still "to be determined". I'll have to zero this one at the range tomorrow and go from there. However, I'm pleased with the precision of the dot. It isn't as precise as an AimPoint dot, but it is certainly good enough and quite usable. It is advertised as a 3MOA dot. The camera made this a little fuzzy, but you get the idea. It does distort a bit at the high(est) illumination settings, but I doubt you'd see that outdoors where those levels are needed. Speaking of illumination settings, the settings are adjusted via a twist-style control that faces the shooter. The settings go from 0 (off) to 11 (max). I would like to see some in-between 'half clicks' to allow turning the optic off and quickly returning back to the previous setting without cycling through all of them. This is a budget optic and falls in the < $100 price category. In its class, I'm very pleased with the overall construction. If it works well, I'd say this one is worth checking out.

  27. Just FYI, These shouldnt be affiliated with A&E and the brand "Duck Dynasty"  but rather the Commader brand that they built long before the show.  The one that actually produces duck and deer calls.    I have no problem with them producing anything they choose and selling it.

  28.   I hope you're dead wrong, too.....unfortunately I think you are dead right.  The New Deal, The Great Society, PPACA, etc. (I feel) were purely designed to incrementally bring us into the state in which we find ourselves now.  Society that is heavily concentrated in the cities are the most dependent on The Great Nanny, but that dependence has permeated even the most remote and traditionally self-sufficient locales to a large degree.  Also, consider the 'breeding incentives' given to the Great Dependents.  Conservative populations are falling off, while the Lib-minions still breed like rabbits.  Used to be that large families were needed to work the farm, or produce some sort of effort beneficial to society (when we used to actually make stuff).  Now that we're a 'service' society, the only tangible value realized from great numbers of offspring are larger welfare checks.  The productive population has shrunk, and the cockroaches have, well multiplied like cockroaches.  Sucks, but we're pretty much screwed.  Clowns to the left of us, jokers to the right.

  30. I don't care for them for the same reasons I don't care for most "reality TV". I don't think they're entertaining (except Si. He's funny) and I don't like being lied to. When I watch a scripted TV show or movie, I know those are actors playing a role. The character and the actor are 2 different people. They're making it all up. I know it, and they know I know it.   With most "reality TV", it's a lie. They're telling me it's all real, that the character and the actor are one. But the shows are almost as scripted and just as staged as any scripted TV show. They're just done with poor writing and even worse acting.   In the case of DD, add to that their flag-waving 'America is the greatest place on God's green Earth' patriotism while simultaneously hawking 'Made in China' kitch with their pictures on it and I'm tuned out.

There is no wrong in making money, nor making lots of money.  The root of all evil is when one is willing to sacrifice core values to make money, and making money truly dominates one life!  Also a lurking evil is when one is coveting someone who has or who is making money.    Some religious leaders no more represent the populous of following Christ than Adam Lanza represents gun fanatics of America.  I am sure many of the low informed populous think each and every gun fanatic is a Adam Lanza in the waiting, and likewise I am sure many low informed populous think that each and every T.V. and Radio preacher is a money racket.  Just like anything, if one is going to send a dollar to someone, one must vet out that person, organization, etc. to their own satisfaction.

So Obama decides the military retirement pay will have to be trimmed, and gets his best boys working on the ways and means.  After much debate they decide that the best (cheapest) method would be just pay the recipient by the linear inch; as in $1000 for straight line on the body from point to point, and to sweeten the pot,,the GI gets to pick the line.   So the first retiree to fall prey to the scheme is a light colonel. He thinks about it for minute and declares he'll take his pay from the tippy top of his head to the soles of his feet.   Best boy whips out the tape, and declares "6 foot 1 inch! $73,000!! Next guy in line is a full bull, and he figures the angles, and declares HE will take his line from the tip of his out-stretched hand, to the tips of his toes.   Best boy pops a line on him and declares "87 inches!! $87000!!! So this goes on, with varied amounts from 58000 to 93,000 bucks shelled out, when they come to old grizzled Top Sgt., gazing bemusedly over the process.  "Step up Top," cries best boy, "and say how you'll be measured!" 1st shirt looks down at the bureaucrat, shifts his wad and spits, and declares in his company formation voice that he will take his pay based on the line from the tip of his johnson to his testicals!  "My Goodness!" squalls the paperpusher, not wanting to defraud the poor enlisted swine more than was his due, "Didn't you pay attention to the men in front of you? You're leaving a pile of money on the table!!" But Ol' Sarge was adamant; drops his shorts  and demanded his pay to be determined as requested.  Shrugging his shoulders, best boy whips out the tape, lays it on the proscribed spot, and stretches it back,,,," SERGENT!!!!! WHERE ARE YOUR BALLS!!!!"  Top looks down and spits, "Vietnam."

I find it difficult to imagine how you could pull the trigger without engaging the grip saftey.  What are you going to leverage against to get the trigger to pull?  If you can get a finger on the trigger, where is the gun in relation to the rest of your hand?   but....what do I know, I carry a Glock.

Grip safety?!  I missed that.  Pretty much a deal killer for me.  I figure in my lifestyle, geography and attitude if I need a handgun to save my butt  just about everything else in my life has gone wrong. I figure I will be shooting weak hand, one handed from the fetal position, covered in wetness (yes that too) crying for my mommy.  My muscle memory won't be Delta Force-like, tunnel vision will have set in with loss of fine motor control.  I'll probably be going into shock preceded by lots of pain.   I'll likely need as much or more luck than anything else.  The only button or switch or lever I want to pull will be the trigger. If that isn't the scenario then I will have been very very lucky, likely having created distance by running as fast as I can, the other way, like an old rabbit.  Or I have taken a job as an assassin.

  45. I don't think it would make any difference if a million birds (Pheasants and Quail) were released it would just be more food for the Coyote's and Foxes. I gave up hunting Rabbits and Quail many years ago because I had some great Lemon Drop Beagles and we could hunt several different large farms and my dogs might strike once or twice all day once in a while. I can remember hunting them 40 years ago and have a limit of rabbits and birds before lunch. Until they get the Coyote population under control small game hunting is going to be tough............jmho

I see letting a bunch of liberal/socialists that have the temporary political power revoke your rights when you live in a more free state such as we do now, and then pack up after doing little or nothing to run to another state as completely giving up. When there is a fight to preserve your rights, stand up and FIGHT! If you lose, regroup, reorganize, re-plan, and try again. Giving up and inaction is letting them win. Hell, I wish the left had some of you guys mindset; they'd face opposition and just run back to Commifornia, NY or the like and give-up. A lot of what I read on these gun forums tells me the real fighters are on the left, not the right. Everything I hear from the right is comply or run. Most of you have made you mind up if you can't get an immediate victory, that you'll just immediately give-up. :down: FYI, the left has been in this fight for close to 100 years and they haven't given up for a second. At the most, when they have a loss, they regroup and go back to the drawing board, find their mistakes, reorganize and start again. Take a page out of their playbook. Get in the fight and stay in it to win. :up:

  48. There really is no point in Republicans taking the Senate unless they are true conservatives and NOT politicians and I just don't see that happening.   A Republican majority? Possible   A Republican majority that will actually make a difference?  ZERO chance of that I think. One thing that the Republicans have proven is that, as a group, they have no core convictions that they will actually fight for and won't even follow their own platform. When the had control of both houses AND the Presidency they did NOTING of real substance and they will continue to do nothing of substance unless a majority of elected Republicans love liberty first, conservatives/[r]epublicans second and Republicans a distant third. We have have too many SQRLs (squirrals) Status Quo Republican Losers in the party who are willing to go along to get alone.
