The fix is not quick or simple. Until the rule of law is reestablished in this country, until absolutes are adopted again - absolutes like right and wrong, good and bad, moral and immoral, proper and improper, decent and indecent, until we say that morals, principles, ethics, and standards aren't situational and conditional after all, when we can once again say that we are all accountable to God and our fellow man for our conduct, and that such accountability is the bedrock of our society, this will not stop.   It has taken us fifty years to get in this condition, there is no express lane out of it.

My buddy Arnie says his sunglasses works great, but they sometimes snag on his scope. He says they are light, and the and the polycarbonate works great. The color shade really helps with target acquisition. I think his came from Spencers or Claires at the Mall. One more positive point Arnie says, when he wears them to the Elton John concerts, he doesn't stand out as bad.   You can only carry a loaded handgun on the person in general public here with a carry permit. The permit allows concealed or open carry, so no matter how poorly you may conceal your heater, "printing" is not a legal issue.   - OS

Guns fire one way...someone or something pulls the trigger. If no one or no thing pulls the trigger then they do not go off. It is pretty simple.   I have carried pretty much daily (unless I'm so sick I don't leave the house) for the last 20 years and have yet to have a gun spontaneously go off no matter what kind of holster it was in or where it was oriented. So in a minimum of 7000 days of carrying loaded guns on my person and spent the last decade teaching classes all over the country with people carrying loaded guns on their person and I have yet to see a single "spontaneous discharge" where a gun "went off" in the holster for no reason. I have seen "negligent discharges" occur while people were handling guns but never saw one go off while it was secured in a holster.     You know whose guns just spontaneously go off in holsters? NOBODY's. You know whose go off when holstering ? People who holster with finger on trigger and people who shove the gun unto a holster that has shirt tail or the edge of the holster itself (in the case of the ultra worn broken down old leather holsters or ultra cheap nylon holsters) or some other obstruction inside the holster that contacts the trigger are the people who have guns go off while holstering. That is what causes guns to go off in holsters ....something (or someone) pulls the trigger as the gun is inserted.    How do we make sure it does not go off while holstering? Use a holster that does not collapse when the gun comes out.  Keep your finger clear of the trigger guard and slowly and carefully insert the pistol after making sure that there are no obstructions (clothing, jacket toggles or drawstrings, keys, etc) that can come in contact with the trigger. Once it is in the holster don't touch it and simply go about your business. As long as the trigger does not get pressed it cannot go off.    Only you will be able to decide whether appendix carry is right for you. If it is then rock on. If it is not...then rock on. It doesn't effect anyone else how YOU carry YOUR gun (as long as you do it safely) so choose what works and go forth and be armed. 

Too many neighbors to use 22, the angle is always wrong. I use a 410. That way if the pellets go anywhere they won't do any damage.

I've been into boating in one form or another for as long as I remember.  However, I got rid of my last boat in 2003 and can count the times I've been on the water on one hand since.  I picked up a pontoon boat about a month ago and I've been spending a lot of time on the lake.  I would never have imagined that so many things could change on the lake in 12 years.  I'm not singling any certain group of people out, in my past I've been a competitive water skier and participated and/or competed in nearly every discipline of watersports.    Ive also been an avid fisherman for my entire life, point being, I understand the frustrations of everyone out there because at one time or another I've been in their shoes.    So, what's the problem?  Seems that everyone on the lake that you are meeting or being overtaken by feel a need to get as close as possible.  I was trolling the other day and had maybe 100' of line out behind the boat and a runabout with a tube being pulled behind it got so close that they snagged my lure.  Pretty sure there was a bass tournament on Saturday, I was in the back of a creek fishing along a bank and a bass boat comes in about half plane dang near washing me up on the bank, he has the nerve to cut in about 100 yards down the bank from me, after fishing for about 5 minutes he's hammer down like a bat out of hell.  The wakeboarders are no better, wakeboard boats throw an obnoxious wake, it's their nature, it's what they are built for.  I always considered it impolite to repeatedly board in the same area when other people are trying to use it.  Not to mention the environmental impact that these boats are having on shoreline erosion.  It seems that everytime I'm on the lake someone does something ignorant that puts me and my family in danger, or just commits some self centered act that detracts from my boating experience.  It's a big lake, there is plenty of room for everyone.  Thanks for listening to my rant.

I don't know if anyone else is like me, but I have a few guns that have very long barrels (26"-30") and I didn't really have a good case that they would fit in well.  I saw these on sale at Midway for $75 and I just received mine today.  I am very impressed with it.  If you need a case for a long barreled rifle, I would highly recommend it.  It has plenty of room and there is a divider inside where you could take two guns if you wanted.  Not really what I will do, but I like that I can put my spotting scope, bipod, and some other items in it if I want/need to.   Just wanted to pass along what I thought was a good product at a good price.  I got the 56" version.   http://www.midwayusa.com/product/939171584/midwayusa-sniper-drag-bag-tactical-rifle-case?cm_vc=ProductFinding

I've been wearing Maui Jim's for years. They're clear, and weigh nearly nothing. I've no idea about "ballistic"  performance, but they're great sunglasses.

I just joined TGO so this will be my first official post :-). I have been on other forums for years but did not realize this one existed until recently. I have many long range systems from Steyr to Remington to HK so this "Precision Rifle" got my attention, especially at a retail of $1399.00. I was fortunate to order one for $920.00. So far the reviews are great. All you need to do is put some glass and a bipod and your ready to go. I can't wait to unbox mine when it gets in.

Not if they are telling the truth. The problem is that carrying a gun in this state is a crime. The other issue is that when cops are called; they go. I doubt they get many calls of a man with a gun that don’t involve a threat of some kind and a complainant. If there is no complainant I assume it’s up to the Officer if he stops you and checks you out or not. The only way to curb this is to have carrying a gun be a right. But I’m sure it would still happen some as some people call the cops if they see someone walking in their neighborhood they don’t recognize.

What they said... no.  Vultures are in the same category as all other raptors (hawks, kestrels, owls, etc.).  They're also one of the smartest birds out there. 

Lake etiquette is a thing of the past. I fish JPP a lott and it's been terrible for years and not just pleasure boaters and jet skiers. I have been fishing JPP out of my kayak more this year and it's terrible when it comes to other bass boats fishing around you. I was fishing a hump earlirer this summer out of my yak  and had a bass boat pull up and float past me casting down beside my yak and bringing their crank baits back parralel with my yak. At on point they got within 8' of my yak and fished the same hump around me. Later on that aftenroon I was fishing one of my points and was fighting a fish as a boat was driving by, he put the brakes on and turned right on in and started fishing within 20' of me. I ended up catching 5 fish or so while they were around me, they caught nothing, that did make me feel alittle better :)

If you'd ever worn a uniform then you might understand why it's important what the Army carries for a pistol.  Some soldiers carry a pistol in the performance of their duties.

A lot more of this goes on than folks know, mainly because the guys who do it don't talk about it. They aren't doing it for commendation.    I don't know of many Highway Patrolmen of my generation who didn't at some time or another buy some meals or some gas or a tire or a cab ride or a rebuilt water pump, or.................. We just considered it a part of the job. But we got it back - I can recall a lot of Thanksgivings and Chrismas's when I got up from my table and went to pay for my meal only to be told that a family that had driven off twenty minutes earlier had paid for it.

Smack the bottom of the mag. If you can seat it with your hand, even if it does take some force, then it is normal. These are tools and sometimes tools need to have the rough treatment to work.

I think you slightly misunderstood what I was saying. If your gun handling becomes unsafe due to alcohol impairment, you are unsafe with either the gun by itself or you are unsafe with the alcohol by itself. I recommended figuring out which one it was and eliminating that. The implication was more along the lines of folks having more of an issue with alcohol than they think.

While analogous in some ways, it isn't really an equal comparison. Alcohol has a diminishing effect on the human body in two ways. It diminishes judgment and it diminishes motor control, both fine and gross. I would rate the loss of those three things thusly. Diminished fine motor control Diminished judgement Loss of fine motor control/diminished gross motor control Loss of judgement Loss of gross motor control The primary issue folks have with mixing alcohol and firearms is diminished judgement. If you drink to the point that your judgement is diminished enough to make you a danger with a gun, you are a danger without a gun. Many folks have diminished fine motor control due to myriad reasons such as physical maladies or age. That doesn't make them inherently unsafe with a firearm, just maybe less accurate. One doesn't really become physically unsafe to handle a firearm until they begin to lose gross motor control. Cars are a bit different. Operating a car can become dangerous for others as soon as one experiences diminished fine motor control. Slowed reaction times, the ability to keep hands steady/feet firmly on the pedal with the proper amount of force. These are all examples of diminished fine motor skills that make not just drunk folks dangerous in a car, but seniors or folks with certain disabilities as well. One may be physically unable to safely operate a car well before one loses the ability to make good judgements on how to safely operate it. *For simplicity's sake let me say that I am considering the reduction of mental acuity in the ability to process and react to stimuli to be a symptom of diminished physical ability as opposed to a symptom of diminished judgment. Diminished judgement is the increased likelihood of engaging in "hey y'all, watch this!" type of behavior.*
