  3. I took my buddy from Ohio shooting and off roading for the first time! He's around the age of 25 I'd say, and had never done anything like this before. We had a BLAST. Lol, he even called me back that next morning and said he had dreams at night about shooting! First, and most important, we went over the rules and safety of firearms. Then, I let him shoot my .22. rifle.(marlin model 60SB) He was very safe/comfortable with the .22, so, i put a round in my 9mm and let him fire a shot.(sigp239) He was like a kid in a candy store! We worked our way up to a full mag. My favorite part of the whole day was when he smiled and said, "I love the way it smells". I can't wait to take him and his girlfriend back. This was my first time teaching someone new. I didn't shoot much, but had just as much fun teaching him the basics.

  5. Caught this one popping a jig with rattles in stained 54 degree water at Boone Lake. (river, creek,...heck, whatever ya want to call it now lol) Weighed a tad over 5lbs. I think we caught 12-13 fish all together with this one being the biggest. All the others were keepers just small. Best 5 fish weighed around 13-14lbs. We just caught one smallmouth the whole day tight lining. It was a great day on the water. Just a heads up... Boone Lake's water depth is SUPER LOW and usually crowded (only one ramp now in the Johnson City area you can use). I don't have a boat and usually get out on the water with my friends that own one. On that note if anybody has a boat and wants to fish Boone, South Holston, or Watauga Lake. Pm me and lets go! I'll pitch in on gas for the boat.

  6. After over two years since I pulled the motor out of my bel air and left her all alone and depressed, I found her a new heart! I will be picking the new engine tomorrow and I cant wait to get her on the road again!  And I also sound a great 5 speed to go with her! I am saddened that I will lose the three on the column, but the better fuel economy more than makes up for it.

  7. I am 100% in favor of legal OC, I'm also 100% against acting like a donkey's rear while doing it.  I generally prefer to OC while hiking, fishing, etc. generally in a remote outdoor setting where I'm not going to come into contact with many people.  There is no need in getting the sheep all riled up no matter how much fun it can be.  I think the biggest issue responsible gun owners face on the subject of OC is the lack of discretion by most all of the people who OC in public places.  If this opinion offends you then suck it up butter cup.

  8. I get the idea of exercising your rights. I don't get the idea of being a whiny dick about it, especially to cops. They're like fish on a hook. You dangled the bait, they bit on it, and the harder you reel, the harder they fight back. You're never going to win the "reasonable suspicion" argument with a cop. Be nice. Show them your ID. Then show the open carry law that you've got bookmarked on your phone for just this sort of occasion. Explain politely. Offer to talk to their boss and explain it to the whole department. Be nice.

  10. Arguing with the police is simply stupid...it's a no-win situation.   I can appreciate standing up for your Constitutionally Protected Rights... but there is a right way and a wrong way to do this. Polite and respectful interaction is much more likely to work in your favor, not kowtowing, but not being a jerk either.   I don't envy the job cops have to do. This guy was a confrontational butt-head and the cops appeared to be to be acting quite professionally...   I carry concealed for a reason. Don't want nor need the drama.   Just my observation and viewpoint.

  11. Couldn't resist any longer. Did a lot of reading and research on the internet, asked about it on the forum here, found a Sig p226 Legion at a local gun store at a very competitive price (still higher than any other gun I've EVER bought - thankfully got some gun funds for Christmas), and pulled the trigger this afternoon. If it shoots as good as I think it looks and feels, I'll be very, very satisfied.

  14. Two elderly women were out driving in a large car - both could barely see over the dashboard. As they were cruising along, they came to major crossroad. The stop light was red, but they just went on through. The woman in the passenger seat thought to herself "I must be losing it. I could have sworn we just went through a red light." After a few more minutes, they came to another major junction and the light was red again . Again, they went right through. The woman in the passenger seat was almost sure that the light had been red but was really concerned that she was losing it. She was getting nervous. At the next junction, sure enough, the light was red and they went on through. So, she turned to the other woman and said, "Mildred, did you know that we just ran through three red lights in a row? You could have killed us both!" Mildred turned to her and said, "Oh! Am I driving?"

  16. ROMANCE An older couple were lying in bed one night. The husband was falling asleep but the wife was in a romantic mood and wanted to talk. She said: "You used to hold my hand when we were courting." Wearily he reached across, held her hand for a second and tried to get back to sleep. A few moments later she said: "Then you used to kiss me." Mildly irritated, he reached across, gave her a peck on the cheek and settled down to sleep. Thirty seconds later she said: "Then you used to bite my Neck." Angrily, he threw back the bed clothes and got out of bed. "Where are you going?" she asked. "To get my teeth!

  18. That video was funny as hell - especially the part when she said she was drunk one night (around Christmas time), was walking her kid in the park the next day and noticed on her phone she had emailed a family here in Nashville and gave them tickets to a sold out concert and didn't even remember doing it.  :bowrofl:   Not only is she a great singer, that story makes me like her more.

  20. Why go down the false arrest and subsequent legal battle rabbit hole when a modicum of cooperation followed by polite discussion would accomplish the same thing without making gun owners look like a bunch of whiny pricks? Perhaps you've got plenty of time and money to pursue the "hammer of justice" method of education. I'd rather do it with 5 minutes of polite conversation.

  24. SENIOR DRIVING As a senior citizen was driving down the motorway, his car phone rang. Answering, he heard his wife's voice urgently warning him, " Vernon , I just heard on the news that there's a car going the wrong way on M25. Please be careful!" "Hell," said Vernon , "It's not just one car. It's hundreds of them!"

  27. I'm the biggest pro 2nd Amendment guy you will find, but more than that I am pro Liberty, period. The 2nd Amendment doesn't trump property owners rights. If I don't like guns, I should be able to keep you from bringing them on my private property. And being a business open to the public does not exclude me from private property owners rights. Now, that being said, it should be a simple trespassing charge after asking you to leave and you refuse, no more. Maybe for the sake of the safety of patrons, have a sign along the lines of, no weapons permitted, enter at your own risk. I am not willing to give up property owners rights in exchange for 2A rights, it doesn't work like that. If you are on property that another man owns, you go by his rules plain and simple.

  29. Smart idea. I have an excel sheet with serial numbers, date bought, and any other relevant info (traded, etc...). I have a group picture and individual pictures of my firearms. Don't know that that would make a difference but couldn't hurt. Would love to see a pic of the group!

  31. Btw... I think people that go to any kind of store and then go buy it online are lame. It is just not something I do nor do I think it is fair. But I travel a lot and it is hard for me to get to typical brick and mortar stores, especially gun stores. When I am sitting in a hotel somewhere at midnight after getting my quotes done I can go online and see if there is anything I want. It is just as fair to reward the online retailer with a sale at that point. If you are a LGS and want to capture my business get your inventory online and accessible. It just isn't that hard to do these days. You don't need a super fancy site, just a functional web store. Gosh, they might even catch some biz from other people who live in different states... Mark

  32. And here we go again, same old BS. We never see what leads up to the LEO asking to see his permit. We just see what happens after the LEO takes the bait. All he had to do is show his permit. No you don't have to be a sheep, but don't have to be a jackass, either.

  34. Cops have a really tough job. Just show him the permit. Then, if you're curious, politely ask why you were asked to show your permit. Perhaps a scared customer freaked out. Maybe you did something unusual that caught the cop's eye.    FYI, I was in Subway twice this week. I ordered a sandwich, paid, and left. No one asked about my gun because they didn't see it. It's kinda a no-brainer to me. I don't want to stand out or get delayed because someone freaked out over me carrying a gun.    When I'm shopping or eating lunch, I don't want to make a political statement, I don't want to be the first guy shot because the wacko bad guy sees that I'm armed, I don't want to get in a hassle with cops.  When I'm shopping, I shop. When I'm eating, I eat. When I want to make a political statement, I vote.

  37. While we here in TN are obligated by law to show ID when carrying should we be asked by a LEO,  some other states do not have this same law. In traditional open carry states you are not doing anything illegal so why submit to a violation of your rights just because officer friendly doesn't like you OCing??  If you don't defend your rights firmly when you know the LEO is in the wrong then you may as well lay down and let them do what ever they wish.  Sure, you might be arrested and cuffed...... then its all up the lawyers. One of our rights is to seek redress against violations of our rights. Anyone who successfully sues a municipality for violations and wins I applaud them.  Its the only thing authority understands. Make them pay a large monetary penalty for their overreach. Don't be sheep.

  38. I think this is more of a headline than a story. More attention grabbing than anything. Sure, they're closing some stores that aren't doing well. They're also gunna open a crap load of new stores they think will do better. No news here, just business as usual.

  41. Most homeowner's insurance policies cover firearms up to $2500, with $1500 max per individual, and subject to you deductible. My insurance (State Farm) said I should get a separate personal property policy, which would cover guns, jewelry, artwork, musical instruments, etc. Every item covered has to be documented via description, photo, serial number (as applicable) and value. All values had to be substantiated and any single item over $5000 required a written appraisal.

  44. While it may be possible, I wouldn't recommend it based solely on the fact that the Ruger Six series revolvers are gaining some collector interest. Many people, myself included, much prefer the old Six series Ruger to the GP-100 or SP101s made today. Prices on these older guns are steadily rising and some people seek out the .38 Special versions rather than the more common .357s.   The classic example being the Smith & Wesson .38/44s. This is a large N-frame revolver chambered in .38 Special. From the 1940s  up to about the 1960s  it was a common practice to re-cut the chambers to .357 and perfectly safe to do so. However today, finding such a converted gun cuts its value by up to one half.    Modifying guns from their original configuration is always a loosing proposition. Not to mention that gunsmiths ain't cheap. Your friend would be much better off to just buy another gun.
