  1. While searching for a 3" model 60 in pawn shops, I was given an opportunity to buy a beautiful 3" k frame from a manager at a pawn shop that I have known a few years. It was not what I was looking for but I knew I would never find another as beautiful as this 1989 model 65. I had a rough old police trade in model 65 last year that I had actually experienced regrets on selling. When I bought this a few months ago it made me feel better.

  4. I found this company at the NRA convention in Nashville last April. Believe it or not they are in New Jersey, but they provide high quality custom foam inserts for cases based on a design you create on their website. I did it first right after the NRA show last year and also bought a SeaHorse case from them - took about an hour to get the shapes right and about a month to get the final product: They can do a foam insert for just about any case that you have or that you want to buy from them. They can also do custom foam inserts, so I thought I would do one for my bedside table to hold my Glock 19 with a light and two extra mags...just got it today. First photo is with the camera flash and the second photo shows the little night light I have mounted in the drawer... Here is a link to their web site...http://www.mycasebuilder.com/ If you screw up the design they will give you a second chance for half price, or if you buy their insurance for about $8 you get a free do-over if you mess something up. They have lots of guns in their list of firearms to automatically cut out. They did not have the Bond Arms with the holster, and they didn't have that little flash light in the drawer...I took photos of them and traced them (all part of their software). Everything has been perfect with no "do-overs" except when I got the first case I had used their standard S&W 642 outline and forgot that I had the crimson trace grip - had to dremel out just a hair and it was perfect. If anybody has questions fire away, but I highly recommend going to their web site and playing around. It will show you the 3D image of the final product and everything - too cool. Best wishes, B

  5. Sometimes, the younger generation takes "facts" and runs with them, without taking the time to research it for themselves.  Sad really, but we have lost control of our educational system, now controlled by liberals, news and social media.

  6. Fitty... This ain't aimed at you or is it intended to be a criticism of what i would term "instructional educational endeavors (...which i think your video is...)... Its an old geezer's rant about what I have observed in the current atmosphere in the discussion of issues on which there is a sharp disagreement or a revisionist position on ... The specific subject is the Civil War, it's rightness (..or wrongness...), the attendant symbols, the honor of the participants... on and on... ya get the idea.... That bein said, here goes...   Divergent or sharply debated views and articulations of those views are a hallmark of the American experiment... This country is one of the few truly free nations on the face of the earth where you are able to discuss all views, good, bad, or indifferent; heinous or holy, profane or good, and do it without fear of ostracism, or interference from governments and special interest jhadists...    The leftist education intelligentsia, the "public discourse" intelligentsia, and the news media has so firmly planted the idea that somehow anything they (...not you...) deem to be "improper, racist, or whatever "thing dujour" they deem to be "bad"" must be prefixed with the phrase "...I'm not racist (...or whatever... fill in the blank...) but"....     This idea was conjured up by these sons and daughters of satan to put anyone who disagrees with them or does not follow their "dogma" on the defensive and to set him back on his (...or her...) heels before the discussion begins... It's "defacto" giving over your right to sensible, reasoned discussion, and sometimes your First Amendment rights to "robust discussion of issues in the public forum" to your adversaries... It's an attempt at self censorship; pure and simple...   The lamentable lack of knowledge of the principles on which this country was founded and the re-writing of history to suit the disgusting views of jhadists of all stripes; be they the black grievance cottage industry, the anti-american hippies, the socialist demagogues, or whatever other bunch of clowns or would be tyrants hoisting their views on whatever subject has brought us to this sad point...   I say, don't be intimidated into being put on the defensive to explain any view you may have... You are not obliged to do those things... If you are in the debate or discussion business, that's what it means... Reasoned discussion... The hearers are obligated to listen and consider your argument; then agree or disagree with it... It's called "robust debate"... It's a hallmark of a free society...   There are folks out there that want you to be a slave and bow down... They want to muzzle you an intimidate you into silence and/or inaction... The demagogues, would be tyrants, and speech and history revision jhadists among us are tryin, and in some cases, succeeding in making people voluntarily give up their right to voice their opinions in the Public Square... I think that's a disgrace, and i'll not let people do that to me.... Neither should you... All of us here are Americans... We should not be afraid of folks callin us names... What if you are a bigot...?  What are they gonna do about it...?  Not a dammed thing...    Remember the wise words of the great French thinker Voltaire..."... To find out who rules over you, simply see whom you are not allowed to criticize..."...There is no discussion off limits, and there is dammed sure no subject that needs a "preemptive apology" before the discussion begins... .. Your mileage may vary...   non apologizin leroy, the free speech geezer...

  12. Most sheeple look for the quick sound bite answer to complicated issues. They don't take the time to understand the historical context, or deeper underlying thoughts. "The civil war was about slavery" is but one example. Quick and easy, but only part of the story. Another point is that the winner gets to write history so much of the souths position has been ignored, or manipulated to fit the narrative. For some reason I can't load the video (Internet issues on my phone), but I have liked your perspective in the past and found it well rounded and not just some more soundbites strung together. I will watch this and I'm sure it's up to your usual standards. Written by an old Yankee that passed history class back when that meant something...

  13. Stop, stop, you're making too much sense. Seriously though, good work. Your General Lee video is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. I used to have a 12" plastic General Lee when I was a kid. I was jumping it down the steps one day and my momma yelled at me "Throw that thing down the steps one more time and I'll throw it in the trash!" I miss that toy. :)

  18. Tannerite has warning labels for a reason, and that reason is to warn people who don't have enough common sense to realise that Tannerite may be dangerous. Guy is a moron plain and simple, and before you ask, yes, I did do stupid things when I was young, but nothing that stupid, which is evidenced by my still having all of my extremities, including fingers and toes.

  19. I recently had to go to a specialist for a "procedure" (I turned 50, you older guys know what I'm talking about). I had to fill out a form with all kinds of stupid questions. While there weren't any gun related questions, the questions were not relevant at all to the procedure I was having done. If it wasn't a question that helped them with billing (name, address, insurance, etc.) or my medical history, I left it blank. I was ready to put up a fight when I delivered it, but they never even gave it a second look.   Somewhat off-topic, but what I really want is an option to opt out of having all my medical info stored up in the Government cloud. The government does not pay for my insurance, nor any of my healthcare. It's none of their damned business what my blood pressure is, or what prescriptions I am on. I always worry that eventually they will say "Anyone taking prescription XYZ should not be allowed to own guns". And if they know who owns guns thanks to doctor's questionnaires, they can say "Sorry, your spouse is taking XYZ, you can't have guns in your house at all".

  20. Like Pete, I've met Comms in person...it was actually at an event Pete sponsored for a veterans group.  While he was always quite identifiable as to the right in his politics and adamant about it, he wasn't over that line where disagreeing because disagreeable.  In person he was nothing like he came across online, which isn't uncommon.  Somewhere, he went past the "reasonable" line, and it culminated in this with MacGyver bringing out the ban hammer for the good of the site.  Just a reminder that the TGO Code of Conduct applies to us all.   If you recall, he was getting ready to leave the Army, ETS, not retiring. That's a time which can be full of stress and anxiety as you get closer to the day when a paycheck won't be coming in unless you have follow on employment lined up.  Doubly so for him since he has a family to care for.  So, maybe that led to his venting or letting lose on here.  Who knows.  Still, I wish him and his family the best going forward.     Onto other topics...Zero warning posts for me, but I apparently only have a one star rating as I see it from my user profile.  Guess I'm not a cool kid. :biglol:

  21. If I come home and somebody is on my property, they are going to get confronted. I won't shoot them unless I feel threatened but they are going to get confronted.    I'm sorry but I'm not just going to sit there watching them rob me while I wait for the cops to arrive. I'll also admit that I'd be less inclined to confront if I was unarmed, but probably still would with any other weapon I could find (stick, knife, or whatever) if it was available.    Best thing is not come to my property looking to cause mischief. That way you can stay alive and I can stay out of legal trouble.

  24. Pretty much this. I'm sure he has some redeeming factors, but I sure never saw any here on TGO. I've got no use for a bigot, regardless of how macho and "type A" they are. I had a sneaking suspicion dude was a monkeydick from the start, watching him try to argue with them backpedal away from TMF kinda sealed the deal so to speak IMO.

  30. I blame the people who used the flag for evil purposes more than anything else. Their use of it gave the general public the view that it was a racist symbol regardless of what was true. The Christian cross has been used extensively by the KKK but no one ever gets upset by that it seems. Just my perspective when you commented about the Confederate soldiers not fighting for "the right thing" as I believe you put it. Maybe, but they thought that it was right. They didn't know what we know now. And, our wasn't really about slavery but about states rights. Just imagine today if the federal government created laws that would vastly change our way of life. Most would probably roll over and take it but back then the Confederacy took up arms to protect their way of life and what they thought was right. If that cause was not connected to slavery the perspective would be a lot different. Another fine video sir. Not arguing just weighing in.

  32. My name is Nicholas, I'm in the Karns/Powell area around Knoxville,    My intrests are pretty much inline with the typical 23 year old male, video games ( I play almost exclusively on PC if you want to add me on Steam, Origin, or whatever else let me know and I'll give you my username), cars (more driving than working on), guns (obviously), and just hanging out with friends. I also have an affinity for parenthesis.   As far as guns I currently own I'm starting to get a bit of a collection. In order of acquisition: a Winchester 190 that my uncle bought in '74 and traded to my grandfather (mothers side) who gave it to me, CAI PW87 12ga lever action shotgun based on the Winchester 1887, CZ52 that I got for a steal at a gun show ($250 for the gun, original holster, 2 mags, about 100 rounds of S&B ammo, 140 of surplus Romanian, and a .30 cal ammo can), S&W Military and Police .38 special pre-model 10 that belonged to my grandfather (father's side) who died before I was born, a Davis derringer in .22 WMR that also belonged to my grandfather (father's side) and has what feels like a 20lb trigger pull, and my most recent addition a VZ2008 (VZ58) to which I added a Slovak style muzzle brake and a fixed beaver barf stock instead of the folder.   I mostly shoot in New Market at my Aunt and Uncle's place. I'll also head up to Royal Blue with friends every few weeks.   Feel free to ask me anything or for some pics of my guns if you want.

  40. I do have a small collection of various calibers I have had in the past but, they are unfired rounds and I don't have the guns anymore. I do have a .32H&R Mag. still I can fire a few rounds from. I also have a couple of .454 Cassull, if I could extract the bullet and dump the powder without mangling the casing I could pop the primer out of my .410. Sorry, i'm not going to fire a .454 Cassull out of my .410, I like my hand and ugly face too much for that. :)

  46. As to the topic at hand, it's a legitimate topic for a pediatrician, but no more so than general safety in the home. It could easily be handled with statements rather than questions. That gets the information to the parents and it remains none of the Dr's business.   Examples: If you have chemicals in your home, like bleach, detergents, bug spray, or a jug of battery acid, please keep it locked up and inaccessible to your child. They don't understand that it can hurt or kill them. Please be sure to always use a child safety seat in the car. Here's a pamphlet with contact information for where you can get one at no charge if you can't afford one. Look for one with (whatever seal of approval is the one to go by these days). If you have firearms in the home, please keep them locked away from your child. Hiding it on the top shelf doesn't cut it. Kids WILL find everything in your home. Here's a pamphlet from the NRA with some suggested safety guidelines. While we're on firearms, here's another pamphlet from the NRA's Eddie the Eagle program with a child-centric approach to gun safety. even if you don't have a firearm, you still need to teach your child the information in here because you never know what they might find away from your home. Be sure to check the batteries in your smoke alarms. If you don't have smoke alarms, please get some. The local fire department usually has them for free for people in the community who can't afford them. etc.
