  1. Although when I was a kid if there was a kid who was being particularly annoying someone might sarcastically say, "Why don't you go play in traffic?" Of course, the kid generally had enough sense to realize that this was sarcasm as well as enough intelligence not to actually do so.

  3. The real problem is that some folks believe that their 'rights' have no limits. Is there a Constitutional right to free speech? Of course - but I don't think that the natural progression of that right grows into a right to stand in the middle of the road and block traffic. Further, an individual's rights are limited where they begin to infringe on the rights of others. I believe that people have a right not to have their lives or property endangered by, for instance, some idiots who haven't got the sense to get the heck out of the road and who are, therefore, endangering lives and property by intentionally and unnecessarily creating traffic hazards.

  4. I got into building light sabers a few years ago. The one in the top photo is made from an actual HR & MPP camera flash parts like the one used for Darth Vader in the original movies. I still need to locate a flash clamp & it will be complete. The bottom photo are two I made using sink, camera, & misc. electrical parts. (Sorry for the poor quality pics. Camera flashes don't cooperate well with chrome) I'm working on a Ep. IV "Graflex" light saber like the one given to Luke in the original Star Wars film, but it's taking a while because parts are hard to find or are too expensive.

She put together the outfit, I just helped with the helmet(this pic is a loaner she used while I was refinishing hers) by Erik, on Flickr Untitled by Erik, on Flickr "Made" is a little over the top, I did correct and refinish a terrible resin casting. Covering it with a dozen coats of black lacquer then polishing until it looked shiny enough that you might think you could dive in and take a swim. Untitled by Erik, on Flickr I would feel comfortable stating that I built my TK(Stormtrooper) though. It started out looking like the largest plastic model you've ever seen. Hour #1 by Erik, on Flickr Several hours and beers later. . . by Erik, on Flickr Many, many, many more hours (and beers) later it becomes! by Erik, on Flickr

  8. Since I was 11 years old I have wanted a real Darth Vader helmet. EFX makes some killer Star Wars props. In 2011 they did a Legend edition helmet that cost over $900.00 it sold out in 4 minutes way before I knew they existed. A couple of years ago I pre paid for another Star Wars prop that never materialized, I was offered a Special Edition Darth Vader helmet in store credit, as soon as I heard they were doing that helmet I jumped on it, it is the closest thing to the one David Prowse wore in A New Hope, the original Star Wars movie, it was delivered to me last week and man do I love this thing!

  9. Sometimes I feel that I have to tippy-toe around with my words. These days the slightest little thing will set some people off. And I have been told that I am by several people, not here, because I may have sounded unsympathetic to the BLM movement. But mostly from the people on Facebook. I just love to torment them with my unabashed foul comments. Actually was told I was racist because I didn't vote for Barack there, and then found it was one of my less conservative neighbors who had said it. lol I love my neighborhood. lol

  10. You got to take on a lot more stupid, and a heavy progressive agenda. Then, everybody without an Obama bumper sticker is racist. It's the Democrats' favorite word, pretty much thrown at all non-Democrats.

  12. .38 Military & Police. Serial number puts it at between 1948-1951. The range for those years was C1-C223998 so you can kinda guesstimate an exact year. That sorta looks like a 5" barrel. A fine looking revolver!

  13. I admit I was wrong. It looks like it was also legal. 39-17-1308. Defenses to unlawful possession or carrying of a weapon. (a) It is a defense to the application of § 39-17-1307 if the possession or carrying was: 1. By a person in fear of Chuck Norris, his beard, or it's perceived presence in a vehicle.

  14. Definitely need pics and serial #, at least the first few digits. Those numbers on the yoke and frame there don't mean anything except the yoke is original to the gun. Serial number is on the butt. Sounds like it's older than '57 or '58, the year S&W started using model numbers (and stamped that number on the frame were you see the 5702). 5702 is not a .38 special model number.

  16. For 40 years, I've stressed to my wife: If she's driving and she has to stop for any unanticipated reason... flat tire, engine problem... Immediately, her priority should become her own safety. It's no longer about getting the flat fixed or getting to wherever she was going. Too many bad things can happen when people sit in cars on the side of the road. If I understand the original post, this woman was sitting in a car for over 10 minutes ...at night ...in a darkened neighborhood ...with no drive by traffic or people around ...with the interior light on so anyone outside could see that it was a woman by herself talking on a phone? If this was my wife in this situation, I'd suggest she tell the caller, "I'm driving right now. I'll call you back in 10 minutes." Do not stop your car in a strange, unlighted location.

  19. Personal taste I guess. I found the Keltec to be a better shooter for me. Less felt recoil and I liked the Prvy 32 acp rounds I had for it. Thought them a better penetrator than the 380. Of course it's all subjective. Personal likes enter into like all others.

  20. And all we have to go on is a third-hand story from a woman talking on the phone, sitting in a car, when it's just about dark, if not already.

  29. I watched this yesterday and have read numerous comments in reference to it elsewhere. I agree the BLM protesters who shot at the car should have been prosecuted I also believe the protester who was standing in the road should be charged. This video should have had a lot more media play and reporting then it's had. Good comments and assessments.

  33. And my wife wonders why I'm very hesitant and particular about pulling into random driveways to turn around. How long did you sit there to give this guy time to come out and confront you? What were you doing that you didn't see him soon enough to big out before he got to the vehicle?

  35. Use a vertical cellphone holder. Cut out the shape of the mag from the dark foam packing insert. Nobody notices because everybody has a cellphone. Even carry my own phone in a carrier next to it and never have had a second look. Anybody says anything I'll just say one is company and the other my personal. Take your mag with you and make sure the case is tall enough and has a n insert.

  38. You know we bitch and moan about people driving and talking on the phone, texting, reading emails, etc. And when they pull over to do it safely we automatically think its ISIS here to diddle your goats? If it's a public street in a public neighborhood then anyone has a right to park on it, at any time. If you want to perch in a lawn chair at the edge of the grass, that's fine too, but you have zero right to approach the car with a weapon on the public right of way. Now, doing so may or may not be illegal depending on the weapon and how you are carrying it, but I'd suspect the action is not advisable from my standpoint. March around the neighborhood long enough looking for an opportunity to "defend" it, and you'll surely find one....just ask George Zimmerman.

  39. Ok, let's get this back on track. I got the chance to shoot a Carbine version yesterday. It was fantastic! I can't say enough good about it. Like yours, this one also had the trigger replaced and the extended charging handle. Makes quite a nice difference in handling the rifle. It shot great. Was terrifically accurate. Of course the 1000 buck optic system on it might have helped me with it. lol The one I shot had the welded faux suppressor on it, so I got a good feel for what it would be like finished out. It really has me thinking about not going the SBR route, and just getting a carbine instead. Overall, I can't really see much difference if I did that. And what's worse...I got to run a mag thru a Bren as well. The less said here the better. I LOVED IT! Plain and simple.

  40. I don't even mow my yard unarmed. I have no idea what's in the area behind my property and of course, who's in the vehicles going down the road (but that's another topic ) I don't want to be the headline when they realize we have cougars around here. "Old dude pulled off riding mower and killed by cougar"

  41. That was stupid on the resident's part and he at the very least should have received a tongue lashing from the police. The use of deadly force to protect property is not justified in Tennessee, first of all, and secondly the resident was no longer on his property when he entered the public street to confront the motorist. Going off of your property, brandishing a firearm, to confront another citizen on public property to ask them "what the hell they are doing" is just stupid no matter the circumstances. He could have easily been arrested for brandishing a weapon. Probably should have been.

  43. I'm gettin' on in years and readily admit to being opinionated as hell. I like metal guns with exposed hammers and proven designs. As such, I go with 1911s and S&W revolvers. My most carried guns are a pre-70 Colt Commander in .45acp and a 3" S&W Model 13 in .357. In revolvers I prefer the K- frames for carry. But I do have a Model 36 that I occasionally grab for quick trips when I'm too lazy to strap on a real gun. I absolutely detest plastic guns. Glucks in particular as they just don't feel right and are butt ugly to boot. However, I do own one piece of plastic and it has a specific purpose. Its a Colt Mustang XSP that I usually carry on my daily walks. With the poly frame and stainless slide, its about as sweat proof as you can get. Besides, its just a baby 1911.
