  7. Don't buy it piece by piece if you do a PSA. It took 8 months to get all of the needed parts. Funds were not the issue. However, I was able to build an 18" PA10 with magpul furniture with a 13" keymod rail for $816 including shipping. Not too shabby. Paired with 1000 rounds of $7.00 a box perfecta ammo and it was a cheaper investment than my first ar15 and 1000 rounds of ammo

  8. The original AR10 was designed and built by the Armalite division of Fairchild Aircraft in the late '50's. production was moved to Artillerie Inrichtingen in Holland, About 8000 rifles were built in several configurations. The last and largest purchase was by Portugal to arm their paratroopers. These rifles were used to great effect in the wars in Angola and Mozambique until they ran out of spare parts and had to re-arm with the G3. Later Mark Westrom bought the Armalite name and the rights to manufacture .308 rifles. these rifles have no interchangeable parts with the original AR10s and use the AR15 fire control and modified M-14 magazines. This company still owns the rights to the name 'Armalite' and also 'AR-10'. Eventually, other companies started to produce .308 rifles using the Stoner system and features. While many shooters generically call these 'AR10's', they cannot have that name due to the Armalite copyright. The original Dutch-made AR10's are the only rifles that can claim non-Spec-Ops combat use as they were issued and used by soldiers in Central America, Africa, and a few even showed up in Vietnam, Typically the countries that had them quit using them when they wore out from use. MY AR10? It's a Portuguese model built on a semi-only receiver. Then only reason it doesn't go to the range with me every trip is the afore-mentioned shortage of spare parts. It's an amazing rifle!!!! http://www.ar10.nl/Portuguese.html What else do you want to know?

  11. So I sent Willis my ZT350 last week. While I don't abuse my knife, I also really don't spend a lot of time maintaining it. When I sent it to him the auto assist had stopped working and it wouldn't cut much of anything. Loose bale string was a nightmare, unless I could push it against something hard and saw on it there was no hope of cutting it. I really questioned why I even carried it every time I had to use it. First, turn around time was impressive. Less than a week from Wyoming to Tennessee and back. When I opened the box today, aside from the worn finish I didn't think it was the same knife. Seriously, I thought he might've switched it with a new ZT he meant to ship to someone else. First off, he fixed the opener. I didn't ask him to, didn't expect him to, didn't even really remember it wasn't working. I just got used to the knife not assisting anymore. After fixing it, he sharpened it. I sent this knife back to ZT once to get refurbed, and the factory didn't do as nice of a job as Willis dos. It's like having a whole new knife. I grabbed some loose bale string, pulled it kind of snug and the weight of the knife was all it needed to cut through it. If I look real close, I think I can actually see my reflection in the edge of the blade. This may be the best money I've ever spent on any knife, and I intend to send a few more his way pretty soon. If you're on the fence about it, it's well worth the money. [emoji106]

  15. I just graduated, so I'm probably right at your age range. Let's be honest, you don't need alcohol to have a good time. Does it make things more fun sometimes? Sure it does. However, I'm with you, anytime you can set an example to people by not drinking, go for it. I commend your attitude, my friend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

As for the house shoes she probably put those on as soon as she got into her vehicle to go home. Tactical mindset? Nope. Human being not thinking about anything more then grabbing some stuff and going home? Yep

  19. Might help in some situations, but the wad has a very poor relationship with shotstring and target. Practice with an experienced clays shooter or better yet an instructor will be more fun and productive. There are some very good shooters that actually can see the shotstring the majority of time. If they say you are behind and over.....you can take it to the bank.

  24. My vote is for gimmick also. My daughter came in with the ammo from the NRA grant this year and I got all excited when I saw flats that said AA. At least until I got the box open and saw the Tracker label. I would much rather have all of my shot payload usable and not stuck in the wad. They also tend to confuse the younger shooters and scorers. Everybody thinks that orange wad is a chip.

  25. First was an M & P 10. Fun rifle, shoots well, good balance. Swapped a VTAC trigger and a Troy/VTAC hand guard on it and it feels just like my AR 15 Second I built a precision AR-10 with CMT parts. It is a bit heavy but very sweet. Someday I'm going to put it in the hands of a talented shooter to see how well it shoots.. 3rd was an attempt to build a 308 pistol using aero precision parts. Not such a great build but it works and will be an awesome HD gun.

  27. Oh trust me, we could have spent multiples of what we spent. Based upon my mom's an dad's expressed wishes, not the funeral homes suggestions, we were able to keep things realistically priced. Ie. Displaying a photo of dad, rather than renting an empty casket for memorial display, was about $650 in savings. Death is such a racket it is sickening

  28. If you need ammo to stock, look no farther than Wolf Gold. It's loaded to 5.56 specs, and it's accurate enough out of every AR I own. In my experience it is one of the cheapest brass case rounds so I load up on it and buy "match" rounds in smaller quantities for when I want to shoot small groups. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  29. DaveTN, yes it is indeed how I teach my class. I didn't come up with this on my own. I have had many classes/instructors, some of 'fame', that highly encourage dry practice on a daily basis and have pulled the trigger quite a bit myself. I would bet many of the best competition shooters in the state do so as well, but I haven't surveyed them. Which has more wear on the gun simply doing a dry pull on the gun 1000 times, or shooting it 1000 times with 30,000 cup of pressure with each pull? There may be some wear&tear with both, but it is an excellent technique supported by many excellent instructors. If one chooses not to do so, or if your owner's manual says don't.....then don't. 'From Smith & Wesson FAQ Can I dry fire my S&W handgun? Q: Can I dry fire my Smith & Wesson? A: Yes, except for the .22 caliber pistols which includes models 22A, 22S, 422, 2206, 2214, 2213 and 41. .22 caliber revolvers such as models 17, 43, 63, 317 and 617 also should not be dry fired. Q: Why can't I dry fire my .22 pistol or revolver? A: Dry firing a S&W .22 pistol or revolver will cause damage to the firing pin.

  30. Hmm? Guns to small to be wearing it at folks enough so throw on a 30 round mag for extra bling? Or someone hasn't spent enough time shooting tactical Tupperware pistols with extended mags like that to find out there's a difference between range shooting and real world carry.

  32. Not really mysterious (and not exactly senility either, AFAIK at least ). Just that I live alone, have numerous handguns hidden all around the abode, and just went to take one to range one day and literally could not remember where I had stashed it! It was in the bottom of a big cooking pot I don't use much. - OS

  37. 1. My detent spring usually sticks around... but the detent itself was in a gap in the hardwood floor planks. Took about an hour, but I found that darn pin. Held it aloft like Link after he got the Master Sword. 2. The other thing that I won't admit to... driving out taper pins. Gotta pay extra attention to which way they go in vs go out. Makes em heaps easier to work with

  38. I ordered three of them from the Kukri House as wedding gifts about five years ago (one for my best man, one for my wife, and one to keep for myself) and they are pretty nice knives. I bought them as collector pieces more than anything (I haven't chopped down any trees with them) but they were razor sharp and seem to be well made. I don't have any regrets about the purchase.

  45. I love it, and this is my next purchase. But I don't want anything in the world bad enough to sell all my Glocks to get it!!!!!! Beautiful gun, can't wait to buck up and get mine. Where'd you pick it up?

  46. Well, the potential certainly is there. Great location, easier to access than Nashville, right off I-40 onto Hwy.70. But, as you said the best venue on the planet isn't worth much if it isn't taken advantage of. Maybe 12 mi. from me. As we all know, the former shows there were as useless as a side saddle on a hog. Keeping my fingers crossed................
