**UPDATE** Today is his birthday, and we've been out shooting his 3" Stainless Ruger SP101 357 Magnum, and he loves it! A part of me hoped he wouldn't care for it, as I've sort of taken a liking to it as well. Thanks for all the suggestions, and thanks to the forum member who sold it to me.

Had my first crossbow hunt ever this past Saturday, was also my first morning hunt and what a great hunt it was. Got in the blind right at 0600, was 40 degrees, and was my first time listening to all of creation wake up. Heard a few coyotes off a ways, a neighbor's rooster, a few turkeys and every bird in Fayette county I think, I'm sure a lot of you have enjoyed this as well. Sunrise is about 0645 and almost immediately we had a little 4 point come up behind us, he was behind us stomping and making a few scrapes, was a blast to watch and hear. A bit later, we had 3 different bucks, none of them in sight, but one in front and one more on either side of us. We broke our grunt call and tried a few times, had a little bit of interaction with them all. Was awesome to hear them all grunting back at us. Unfortunately, we weren't able to call any in, but still a blast for me to be a part of. Around 0800 we had 2 does coming from our right to left right along the tree line. Our pop up blind had been out there for a week or so before we got in it, but one of the does right when she got into out field of view stared straight at us. I had my crosshairs right on her, pulled the trigger when she was right at 38 yards and she ducked my dang arrow! I missed and have been kicking myself since, but glad it was a clean miss and there will be plenty more hunting to come, pretty good trip for my first bow hunt. Was a great hunt.

This meets their production schedule, when I offer knives it is based on the Production schedule of Protech, I assure you This will be the last TGO knife for a long time I guarantee that, I promised that I would do this run before the end of 2016 so Iwill do my best to make it happen, these knives will be done and delivered before Christmas

I think maybe it is just a matter of too many, too quickly causing a bit of buyers fatigue. If you table this one and come back around with it in 6 months to a year, you might find that the demand has resurfaced. It's also getting close enough to Christmas that discretionary funds may be getting a little tight. I do want this one, but I don't think a little breathing room would hurt anyone. Just my .02. Worth exactly what you paid for them.

I think this can be a fun and informative thread thread if we keep it going. Basically, post a pic of what you cooked/prepared for yourself or your family...either a meal or a snack so good you have to share. That way, if someone likes what they see, they can ask for the recipe, or preparation tips. I'll kick things off with what I made for supper tonight: Grilled steak (charcoal, not gas)- marinated with Italian dressing for 8 hours, cooked somewhere between medium/medium well Honey gold potatoes- half cooked in a boiling pot, then sauteed to finish with olive oil, pressed garlic, butter, and cracked pepper Romaine salad with Mexican cheese blend Small/med amount of Italian dressing drizzled over everything

I won't give any possible spoilers but if the show follows the comics then some people will love it and some will hate it. Either way, based solely on what has happened on the show, itself I think it is safe to say that this season marks the turning point between, "how do we survive the zombie apocalypse" and "okay, we've mostly got the short term surviving zombies thing down so now how do we survive each other and begin to truly rebuild for the long term?" I expect the zombies to still play an important 'role' but the 'role' they will play will likely be very different going forward. On The Talking Dead they mentioned that some people are calling this premier and the upcoming season a sort of 'reset' for the show. I think that sounds about right. I also think it is a good idea and not only because that follows the source material. I think it is good for the possible continued longevity of the show because it serendipitously comes at a time when the whole zombie craze is dying down (pun intended) in our society. As the fad wanes I suspect that a 'zombie show' would be cancelled pretty soon but a show with strong story lines about people and how they not only survive but begin coming back from the brink of destruction that happens to also have zombies might make it. Further, I think those who say, "But it is a show about zombies," are and have always been wrong. It is a show about people surviving in a world where society as we know it no longer exists and just happens to have been destroyed by zombies. There is a huge difference. Yeah, the show is called The Walking Dead but remember that, in the context of the show, 'the walking dead' doesn't refer to the zombies (or 'walkers'.) Instead 'the walking dead' refers to the survivors, just as in a speech that Rick made to the others several seasons back when he described their situation by telling them, "We are the walking dead," (see the clip below.) So even the title of the show refers to the survivors doing whatever it takes to live and not the zombies. Anyhow, if the story takes the direction I think it will then some people - those who just find a story about surviving and rebuilding after a TEOTWAWKI event interesting and who still like zombies as part of that story - will like it. Those who just want a show purely or mostly about fighting zombies likely will not.

I think Chucktshoes is onto the issue. I do want a Godson, and would have found a way to pay for it. But at this time of the year, some of us might be feeling a bit strained. I don't think it's a rejection of you or the knives, and I really do believe that; but perhaps waiting a few months would get a better response. Not backing off or out of the purchase, but it could be something for you to think about.

I agree with this. Its a pretty big revenue generator and politicians do not like giving up a revenue stream. Even if it made it to Haslam's desk he would veto it. I have no faith in his conservatism and commitment to its ideals. While some may feel that a permission slip or permit rather, is good enough cover I have to ask, how does one exercise their constitutional right to bear arms if the state controls who gets permits? What happens when the state decides to tighten the constraints on permits and throws in registering your guns or you don't get a permit? Think they can't do that ? I don't put anything past them. Wet your finger, raise it high into the wind and see which way its blowing.

My parents came in to visit today & surprised me with a gift with immense personal meaning to me. Today my mother gave me my grandfather's Remington 550-1, which he bought brand new in 1956 when she was only 4 yrs old. It's in new condition & he even kept the original hang tag from 1956. As you can see he took extreme care of everything he owned. That's how he lived every day of his life & I had a lot of respect for him. My grandfather was a veteran of WWII & served on the U.S.S. Mellette (APA-156) at Iwo Jima & Okinawa where he drove a landing craft. After the war he drove a truck for nearly 40 years before retiring & was an active member of our local American Legion, VFW, & the Shriner's until his death. He was married to my grandmother for 64 years, who is still active at the age of 95. Sorry to ramble, but he was a good man & it would take a book to describe him & his life. Sadly, he passed away Feb. of 2014 at the age of 89. This was an unexpected gift that will be cherished & eventually passed down to my children.

I just want to say thanks for all the work and effort you have put into getting this site up and keeping it up.

My parents, brother in law and a family friend just built this for our family property. They put a good bit of time into it and I am extremely impressed. I can't wait to start spending some time in it. My brother and myself both have Becker Muscular Dystrophy, getting out in the woods is a little bit more difficult for us, but they are sure trying to help us out, can't them enough. For them to build this for us, we were both floored, its 8x10, has some good sized windows (still working on the actual windows), a little desk at each window and the ramp for us to get our butts in it. We hadn't used it just yet, but I am sure it will be put to good use in the coming months, get us a little heater in there, we'll be good to go! Hoping it will last a good while, I had to show it off. Also, we have had a few trespassers as of late unfortunately, one of them dropped a couple prescription bottles and the paperwork that came with them that had her address and phone number. If you know anyone named Delisha from the Moscow area, I am sure she's an outstanding citizen, but tell her we have her muscle relaxers, birth control paraphernalia and empty beer cans.

You'd either report it to your local police department of sheriffs department, it just depends on which is responsible for patrolling your area. If none of the documents had your FIL's name on them it makes me wonder why the BoA sent him credit cards with his name on them. He should call or go by the closest local law enforcement agencies office with the documentation he has and ask for someone to make a report.

Don't know a lot about the old stuff but I did just pick up a Danish m-1867 rolling block in 11.7 Danish (basically a 45-70). It is a cool old rifle.

I have made a variation of this on several occasions. Other than browning the ground beef or venison and chopping up an onion and fresh peppers (If I happen to have some) it's just a matter of opening a bunch of cans and packages then dumping them into a large pot and let it simmer on medium to low heat to let it meld. I usually use a variety of the Ro*Tel Tomatoes because I like to keep an assortment on hand. Quick easy one pot dish and my family tends to like spicy foods so it's liked by all.

I will agree that the USA made ones are decent, the ones not made in the USA, I have access to everyone of them but I will never sell one, I only sell knives made in the USA and knives that I truly believe in if you are wanting a $40 or less knife I would suggest you go for a Kershaw before you consider the HK, many people believe that when a Firearm manufacturer puts their name on a knife that that company makes them, sadly that is not the case with the exception of Glock who only make a fixed blade to the best of my knowledge finally I will say this, in my honest opinion Kershaw make the best entry level knives, the USA made ones, and if you want to spend more Zero Tolerance you can find a 0350 for a little more than $100 that will be well worth the money and last you a very long time, I think I may know a guy who could get you one if you are interested let me know

Just my Humble opinion I don't think it will pass because of all the money being made by the state on permit purchases and renewals. I don't think the Governor would sign it if it did make it to his desk......JMHO

I've have come to the conclusion that aside from this whole "living dead thing" it takes so real artistic license to believe that someone like Negan could exist. So they get captured for a short time and he clubs a couple people, that I can believe. But as soon as I was turned loose, one set of camo and an AR and I could guarantee Negan's head would look like a watermelon after a Gallagher show. A.) It vastly reduced production costs. Plus keeping fixed heads sharp through packing, storage, distribution & rattling around on shelves for years is insanely difficult. B.) The manufacturers assumption is that you'll shoot them into targets before you ever hunt with them, so they'd need to be resharpened to hunt anyway (And rightly so....) The only folks I know of that make a practice fixed blade (with non replaceable blades) is Montec.

If you need bait or dogs to hunt, you aren't a hunter. I believe in fair chase. I don't hunt much anymore simply because I don't like most of the meat and I don't believe in killing most things that I don't have a purpose for. There are a few exceptions I suppose, but for the most part, as I get older, I think more about why I am doing it. Hunting is necessary and I have no problem with it so long as it is done ethically. It seems too many now days are simply about the kill and not the purpose.
