Hey all! Been quite some time since I've dropped by TGO. I hope everyone is doing well! I've been busy over the past year or two. I ended up getting married and my wife and I are getting ready to welcome our baby boy into the world any day now (due date December 12th). On the firearm side of things, my collection is pretty thin. I do EDC is a Springfield XDS 45 these days, although I'm thinking about switching to one of the (many) compact 9mm options. In any case, before things get any crazier for me I wanted to drop by TGO to say Hello and wish everyone a Merry Christmas! Jeff

After many many many months of waiting, the ATF finally approved my Form 4 and mailed it to the one and only Michael Dresner of Law Enforcement Sales. I purchased it from Silencer Shop on March 1st, ATF cashed the check on April 11th, then approved my Form 4 on November 21st. The form arrived to Michael in the mail on December 3rd. So far I'm really liking it. Once I do some more shooting and testing with it to confirm reliability, this suppressed 300 blackout will become my main home defense gun. The suppressor is quite at home on my 300 blackout SBR as well as my 10/22. I put up a quick video with it on my YouTube channel:

I solved that problem 20+ years ago, never sell, never trade away. Just add, add some more, add more.............Seriously, when I was in the gun biz, many of men said they wished that had something back, so I listened, and still have all of my early guns, my guns from 10 years ago, and the past.

They don't need to go to prison, they need to pick up a shovel and wheel barrow. Then when they're done with that, they need pick up a hammer and nails. Then when they're done with that, they need to pick up a paint brush. Depending on how all that goes, maybe we'll see about prison. Given the situation, I'd bet the parents weren't particularly involved before so getting them involved now seems a bit late.

I hunted until 1pm today. If I could eat fresh tracks I'd be in good shape. I'm having a time figuring out these deer.....there are fresh tracks every morning and lots of them. Deer are moving in this area I'm hunting and it's the only area I'm seeing fresh sign. There was only one other hunter in there today and rode in on a 4 wheeler before daylight. I walked down the road about 9am and there were tracks inside the 4 wheeler tracks. I heard them leave about 10:30. I'd guess 3 or 4 does moving around. I've got a plan for in the morning....EARLY. Maybe I'll score a doe for the freezer!

As a father of 4 sons, two on the cusp of being teenagers, I cannot imagine what the family is going through, the parents, the kids and etc. On the other hand, the pain, the loss, that the innocent people of Gatlinburg have went through and the loss for ever. Sad and tough situation all around.

What you need to bring: Pistol, pistol magazines and at least 250 rounds of ammo. Revolvers are welcome if you want to party like it is 1899. We will shoot several challenging drills (like the challenging Military Match 221- Excellence in Competition, Air Marshal Qualification, FAST Drill, 2x2 drill, and MANY more ) and test our skills with the weapon we carry most...our pistol. This one will be structured a little different than normal. We usually spend the morning working technique and skills and then shoot in the afternoon. NOT this time. Depending on the age and the level of intent or reckless that can be proven; there probably will be. But since they have charges to hold them on and keep them away from each other; there is no rush to do so until the investigation is complete. As I said above; there isn’t much in that story. This could be anything from 8 year olds playing with matches, to 16 year olds intentionally setting a fire. As soon as the local gossip gets going we will know their ages and probably their criminal records; if they have any.

That would be quite fitting considering the damage caused. Unless they're beyond rehabilitation, long prison terms will just make them lifetime criminals. I can't see any reason to try them as adults...I've not a fan of that practice save a case by case basis when per-meditated murder/attempted murder is involved. I'm interested to learn if these two were out to bring as much mayhem as possible, or two dumb kids who let a fire get out of control with the weather causing the rest. Not excusing anything, but I find it hard to believe that to under 18 teens could have intended the devastation caused.

I feel your pain. The deer have gone nocturnal on my farm. Lots of hunters in the surrounding area so pressure is pretty extreme. I'm hoping this cold weather coming in will drive them out during the day to warm up. I've noticed in past years when there is a cold snap they'll hit the fields once the sun gets over the trees. Usually start seeing movement around 9 or 10. Hoping that pattern holds. I need another doe or two to finish filling the freezer.

I've never seen anything like this before. There wasn't many people at this local auction, and prices for guns and knives were at near giveaway levels, so, being a good TGO member, I tried to do my part. I scored an 1894 Marlin in 38-40, a Colt DA 38, A Colt Bisley in 45 Colt, a Remington New Navy Cartridge Conversion with perfect ivory grips, a Cattaraugus pocket knife, and a Winchester pocket knife. Not pictured is a 1917 Commercial Smith and Wesson my father confiscated from me. I guess a blind hog finds an acorn once in a while.

Greg.... I'm thrilled that ya have found this great old piece of history and that it appears to be the "real thing"... There were lots of colts that were put together by scavanging parts... When I did my A2, you couldn't get new ones. After doing some looking, I kinda determined that an A2 is as old as you can go and still get new parts.

That is kind of what I like about the system that Mississippi has in place. You have always been able to carry a loaded firearm in your car there without any sort of license and somewhat open carry depending on opinion. Now you can open carry for free, conceal carry in a belt holster for free without a license, carry on a regular license (with restrictions), or carry on an enhanced licence (training required just like TN's permit) and carry virtually anywhere, including K-12 schools, legally. I believe you are limited from carrying in courtrooms during court and police stations with an enhanced license. No it's not a perfect system but the system helps the vast majority of good guys carrying and in my opinion is better than what we have in TN. In an ideal world we would be able to own Class 3 firearms without a tax stamp, mail order firearms just like it was up until the late 60's, and be able to carry in all 50 states anywhere legally without any sort of license or restrictions. That's just not going to happen unfortunately and we have to make the best of it if reasonable politicians are willing to work with 2nd Amend groups and help cut restrictions.

Well the CEO is a last ditch effort. She can escalate you to HER direct supervisor. If you don't want to do more calls, do the letter I mentioned and Facebook if you do it. I did do a quick web search for stores that have that gun in stock. I did not see it at any of the big name places I looked. Kinda odd. maybe they are having more than just issues with this stock. As in supply chain and manufacturing issues. If it goes on, I would just press them to buy the gun back from you at purchase price. Not the best outcome, but gets you out from under this with no monetary loss.

I am actually pretty setup in my condo/stand. I insulated the inside with reflectix insulation on the bottom 4' ish, and a black closed cell foam on the upper portion. With my little buddy heater it is warm and cozy in there. Just wish the deer were more accommodating to my needs

I tried a few recipes but haven't locked in on any as I don't have a dedicated can to keep trying to get one that works right with my setup, 10.5" and 16" barrels, but I do have few in a pdf I put together for the 300Blk. Here are a couple to try, work it down of course. 10.0gr of 2400 with a 220 SMK at 2.260 OAL 9.3gr of 4227 with a 220 SMK at 2.100 OAL 9.5 of 4227 with 208 Amax at 2.095 OAL

My dad had one show up in his front yard the other day. He grabbed the first gun he had handy. His 36" barrel full choke 12ga with turkey loads. Thing never stood a chance. I doubt a single pellet missed it.

You might included a home warranty with the sale. You can get them for around 600 hundred dollars. They can cover seller and buyer. Get one and have the warranty repair before sale

The one on top is 38 mod 14-4 the one on the bottom is a 22 mod 48-4. Yeah they were also his, they're actually pretty good shape. Thank you guys for the kind words. I guess I'll leave it alone . I was also so lucky enough to get his old 270 Winchester pump among others ,I'm not sure why but he liked it above all we shot it quite often growing up .

I usually only age my meat up to about a week. In the early season it's harder to do since the temperatures are so high. If you have a walk in cooler it's a lot easier. However, my method is this: let the deer hang, with the hide on for 5-7 days. I prefer the head down, that way the blood is draining away from the best cuts. Contrary to what a lot of people think, it is better for the meet to age with the hide on, it prevents it from drying out. That's really all there is to it. An alternative method when it is warm is to quarter the deer and lay the meat in ice for the same amount of time, changing the ice out to make sure the meat never sits in water [emoji1417] One last thing, the tenderloin are never aged. The fact remains, our founding fathers believed and many of us still believe today that we're endowed with inalienable rights, they saw those rights coming from our Creator, while some people who don't believe in God see them coming from our humanity. It doesn't matter which side of that fence you come from, we should all believe in those inalienable rights. JAB, many of us were lost in the view given to us by society since our birth, we'd talk about freedom, and rights in school, and then be conditioned to believe that those rights can have conditions set upon them our 'parent' the government. The right to protect yourself and your loved ones without interference from the majority is as important as the right to believe and freely practice your religion without interference of the majority. Any infringement what so ever on those rights are at best immoral and tyranny. If as adults we can't see the problems around us and have ideals that should not be compromised under any condition them how does the government function if we're not moral men and women? It doesn't and we've seen it go faster and faster down hill for the last 150 years. The reality is every immoral rule and law imposed by the government ends with an implied threat, if you don't follow this law men will show up at your house and use whatever force is needed including death to make you do it. JAB, you asked the question about the majority out and out banning firearms because we allow nut cases to carry those firearms... I'd point out AZ passed it's constitutional carry after a nut job attacked a sitting congresswoman killing many innocent people. The reality is it's immoral to limit our freedoms because of what somebody else might do. I think your argument is a red-herring, when we lax stupid gun laws blood doesn't run in the street, crime goes down and people feel empowered. We see this time and time again both here in TN and in other states around us. Finally, if the government bans firearms, then I personally will feel the social contract is fully null and void. I will remove my consent to be governed by said government, and return to a 'state of nature' such as described by Thomas Hobbes, and John Locke.

Probably...but nationwide permitless carry happening is probably about as likely as the democratic party adopting a militant PRO 2nd amendment stance as a party platform....... After giving this some thought I may have a solution (though some will still hate it ). Adopt constitutional carry AND still have a permit, but an "enhanced" permit like Mississippi. That way EVERYONE can carry without a permit inside TN and if that is all they want to do - the bare minimum - then they can do that. But then also offer a permit that would cost money and require training that would then allow you to carry in places in TN that you presently cannot carry and allow you to carry in other states that offer reciprocity.
