  1. No. They are a set of Nill-Griffe grips. They are very comfortable.

  2. I know. It's just that simply looking at the physical size of the bomb combined with its 50 Megatons yield it was a bit of a "No " reaction to their use of the adjective "huge."

  3. Thanks. It's a 1918 Colt that went through the Augusta Arsenal for WWII use. The grips are reproductions. I have the originals put on at Augusta, but want to keep them intact. Here's a 1944 Colt 1911 A1 that I had re-parkerized. A previous owner had it nickel plated and one after that DuraCoated it in tan and black. I felt obligated to give it back some of its dignity.

  4. You might contact Paul Wheaton at Permies. He comes into contact with a lot of people who are interested in farming and homesteading in ways that are very in tune with nature. I know he has families that visit his place for months at a time to learn various skills. If the second trailer is decently livable you may be able to find a nice young family that would kill for the opportunity to have land like that to work with. There is also a website WWOOF (called wwoofers which stands for World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) which is an international organization of folks who move to different areas to learn farming techniques or just use it as a manner to travel the world on the cheap. I think there is usually a stipend involved but I haven't researched it that much. You would have to do a little due diligence to find the right people and they aren't usually a long term solution. One more possibility (kind of a long shot) is a Canadian named Curtis Stone. He runs a site called The Urban Farmer. He has a business and teaches a ton of classes on how to lease small plots of land in urban areas to farm for locally produced veggies. The lease agreements often include sharing a portion of the food grown so it could be a good source of free healthy food for you. He has a ton of students each year and may know someone local who has been through his course that would be an ideal fit for you Maybe one of those will work for you or maybe they won't but at least it's worth a look, Mark

  7. I bought from them a lot when they still offered local pick up. Guns, bullets, powder, primers, I would plan work in Johnson City on pick up days just so I'd make sure I could get there in time lol. Then they got bought out and cut guns and local pick up, and now powder and primers... It's sad to see

  8. I know a few Paramedics and others that carry in Belly Bands and Smart carry holsters in certain NPE environments. I've used a Belly Band for such a role (niche) for many years...sometimes we don't have much choice. I also have used fanny packs for certain circumstances for over 25 years. When I first started using fanny packs in the early 90's there were an everyday seen and worn type item in the general populace...then for a decade or so they were decried by the Tacticool crowd as a "shoot me first...get you kelled on 'da streets" piece of kit...but they are becoming more ubiquitous yet again. I never stopped having one with loaded with a Glock 26 sized gun, 2 spare mags, small OC spray, a TQ, a Surefire flashlight and a BOK. I drag it in and out of my vehicle, but primarily use it for long drives or as a "grab and go" bag/tool...but I will still have my normal EDC guns & gear on as well. Like above, I find it a convenient niche tool. I also find it a necessity to learn how to run the fanny pack one handed, with either hand, as situations will dictate. I have a small carabiner attached to the pull and that makes it markedly easier to open with either hand. Many years back, Andy Stanford of Options for Personal Security (OPS) had a good video out demonstrating use of the fanny pack in the counter-carjacking role. I couldn't locate that particular vid, but can hopefully post one below from my old training partner Paul Gomez (RIP Brother). Paul was one of the most analytical thinkers to ever grace the self defense industry and he is missed.

  9. Anytime Good Sir. It's still out there, but the availability is sporadic and the prices henceforth have risen to meet the diminished supply vs demand. I personally like having several spam cans of ammo set aside for the long haul. I keep my shooting rotation ammo in loose in 50 cal cans. If you can catch it in stock, places like SG Ammo usually have 7.62x54r surplus and makes like Red Army and Brown Bear for $0.40-$0.60 round which is a competitive price (imho) these days.

  11. I have always said that all else failing, let it go back wild. Maybe get someone to bush hog some of it twice a year to keep the saplings down. As far as the trees down, if your son-in-law can, just cut out as much as you have to to get access. That is unless you can get someone to come cut it up in exchange for the wood. I have never had luck at that though. As far as renting one of the doublewides out, just vet your renters well. Also, don't charge too cheap for it. Good people assume it is trashed and then you get people in that do trash it. Overall, enjoy it. I wish I had that much.

  12. Thanks. I will get it in hand and let you know. So are they rare enough now that I should just hold on to it and get some commercial ammo? This is my 1st Mosin, so never has to look for this ammo before.

  13. Just had a chat with my wife about this. Regardless of terrorism roots or not the sentiment of watch your back is so true. Situational awareness is our best tool for survival. Without that any weapon we have is useless. Watch your back and stay safe.

  16. Nice AK's fellas! I need to pick up a couple more myself. Anyone know if RWC aka Saiga is back up? I know they had a lot of new stuff coming out, but I've not seen anything produced yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  17. Finally acquired a WWII Springfreld M1 Garand. Serial number says it's from May 1942 that was rebuilt in 1947. She's greased up and ready to go to the range. I want to get some accessories for it, like a cleaning kit, bayonet, ammo pouch, but I'm trying to not spend more money right now! Hope you enjoy h

  20. The big problem with most of these 'universal background' check bills is they are really just universal gun registration bills because all sales must go through an FFL, plus adding 30-40 dollars to cost of selling your own gun. I would have less of a problem with a background check if it was just a background check and did not involve running the gun through an FFL, say if you could just show someone you have a handgun carry permit or like NC does a purchase permit. Pro gun people need to ask the anti gun folks why the handgun carry permits and purchase permits are not sufficient for a background check and you'll see that the anti gun folks basically want a backdoor path to gun registration.

  21. Considering they nixed constitutional carry I can't see them giving a damn about suppressors outside of "look at us, we're doing something for your supposed rights. "

  22. Thank you, David. I will try using another email provider to see if this clears it up. Though it interesting that email notifications are getting through for my posts on this Support Forum but not for the Classifieds Forum.
