  1. So I've done a little work on the gun with the help of Numrich. New barrel, bushing, and link. Springs, firing pin and replica grips. Soaked and cleaned the weapon but haven't altered the finish in any way. Should be ready for a range trip once I hand load a few moderately charged rounds.

  2. The only non mainstream pistol that I have owned was a H&K P7 M8. It is a fine firearm and I wish I had never sold it. H&Ks aren't non mainstream, but the P7 M8 sure is.

  3. A guy I work with who lives in Indy stirred the pot last week regrading a quick and merciful ending to the Pred's season. He got this in return this morning....

  4. Well, see, that was just a woman illegally buying guns, falsifying police reports and selling the guns to gangs. If this had been a case of a woman using a firearm to defend her life from one of those, same gang members I imagine they would have thrown the book at her.

  5. How many of you folks like not so main stream pistols? I have CZ's, kind of main stream to some, RIA 1911 9mm, Canik SF Elite 9mm and C-100 9mm, Witness Poly Series small frame 9mm and compact 45 ACP, Sar Arms B6P 9mm. I like these pistols, they work well and do not cost as much as better known name brands usually. I also have a Beretta APX, Kimber Stainless II and Sig 1911-22. All are fun to shoot. What do you have?

  6. Looking at the Colt website it was made in 1918. The brown spots on the front of the gun appear to be something like shellac and not rust.

  9. This. The only requirement is that the transfer be handled by an FFL in the recipient's state. There's no rule about how it gets there so you can take it yourself, or ship it there yourself. But some FFLs will only accept incoming transfers from other FFLs. Call around to a few until you find one that will take it from an individual.

  11. I hope you're shorter than me. I'd look like a "bear on a tricycle" riding that bike. I'm a little over 6'1" and 250 lbs. I bought a Honda Rebel back in the day, when they first came out. Got tired of my knees being in my chest while riding. Ride brother ride! Keep the shiny side up!

  14. I absolutely would not sell it. I would also hesitate to bring some other family to live there (if that's what you meant) because these days that can often be WAY more trouble than it's worth ('cause people are awful). Just work it yourself and enjoy the land. If you have a lot of room for crops you might consider holding some of the land in reserve so you can rotate the crops.

  15. Just scale it back to what you need to support yourself... smaller garden, fewer critters, etc. Just because you've got 25 acres doesn't mean you have to use it all. Perhaps there are people nearby you could barter with? That might allow you to concentrate on a few things and not have to do everything yourself.

  16. Meh. I think the use of the MOAB weapon was equal parts testing it out, having some "fun" with a big ass bomb on some assholes who seriously deserved it, and sending a message to anyone who feels that a demonstration of our might and prowess is relevant to them and their interests. An All Points Bulletin of sorts to say, "Hey check this out... we've still got toys we haven't even popped on scumbags yet. Remember us?" As for Afghanistan, other than keeping ISIS, ISIS-K, SPECTRE, Hydra, HIVE, and any other miscreant organizations suppressed, who really thinks we have an end-game there that includes a stable democracy and a McDonald's on every street corner? That's never going to happen. The best we can hope for is that Al Qaeda, ISIS and the Legion of Doom are either wiped out or kept at bay, and the rest of the country somewhat peacefully goes back to the caveman #### they've been doing for eons. Stuff like growing poppies for opium, screwing goats, subjugating their women, and dressing up little boys to look like little girls so they can screw them instead of goats. Come to think of it, we should probably just rescue all of the women, children and goats, and then nuke the whole goddamn place. We haven't used one of those boomsticks lately either and the world kind of needs THAT reminder too.

  17. I had one like it in holster with dress linen I bought from an elderly gentleman in 1982 for $350. That was market rate at the time. My brother begged me to sell it to him so I let him have it for $350 and the condition that if he ever let it go I had first dibs to buy it back for $350. Two months later he called and said he had picked up a Colt Trooper (worth about $250 at that time). I asked what he gave for it and he said "I traded the Colt 1911 even up". I don't even miss him.
