  3. Is there any one or place locally who does Luger appraisals? I have had one for a number of years and due to several recent surgeries, I may be forced to sell it. It is a Mauser Banner dated 1942. Everything matches with the exception of the magazine. It is in very good condition (barely a little pitting, no rust) and I have the original hard holster with which it was issued. I have no paper work on it, but it was liberated from a Czech POW in 1942. Any help would be appreciated.

  5. I like the fact that you moved to Saturday but did you have to pick the fourth Saturday?!? The fourth and fifth Saturday is Green River Gun Club in Bowling Green!!!! The second Saturday is wide open until Gallatin Gun Club finds a new home & the first Saturday is Music City. You couldn't have picked one of those Saturdays? Come on Coop!

  7. I correlate the new classifies section with no longer receiving the "wallet depleting" forum updates. Research on the site shows that there are actually two classifies sections on the site now. I also see these are independent "forum subscriptions". I was subscribed to the old forum - I'm now subscribed to the "new" forum linked by the header menu. I realize the content is the same, but the url's and subscriptions are different. I wonder if this is somehow related to what's going on with notifications. Link from header menu and below classifieds menu https://www.tngunowners.com/forums/classifieds/category/3-firearms-classifieds/ Link from main site content - not the header menu https://www.tngunowners.com/forums/forum/39-firearms-classifieds/

  8. Here's a pair I had Custom built by DW a few years ago. Commander & Govt length, forged frames bobtailed, both have Cylinder & Slide top quality internals, Greider Triggers, Dawson Sights. These have proven to be great pistols.

  9. Gore-Tex here as well, and with all the surplus out there you should be able to get one inexpensively. Under Armour (or the like) as a base layer helps, specially with shedding excess moisture quickly. When doing a lot of heavy physical activity in the rain, I would opt to just get wet and change into something dry afterward because anything that keeps you dry will also tend to overheat you. Light to medium activity, such as any range work, gore tex will handle that just fine, they have a wet weather gore tex and a cold weather gore tex as well so you can chose what weight to buy.

  10. I did get a notification from updating my post - it went to my old email address not the new one I entered a few days ago. It's also strange to me that it came from trending@tapatalk.com. Maybe the tapatalk module needs to be re-synced to the website if it's the middleman for update notifications on the site? Also, no other messages in my new gmail inbox or spam from trending@tapatalk.com since the email change to this address.

  11. I would go to Bass Pro and try on some of the rain gear, they have different weights/materials, might find something. OP doesn't say what "training" consisted of, so some rain pants with a cordura exterior should hold up well. I have a Aerostich goretex lined riding suit as well, would hold up well to just about anything you care to throw at it but on the heavy side as it is not designed for much physical activity. There are different weights of the cordura material available so you might find something at BPS/Cabelas/GM, etc. that would work for your situation.

  12. I shoot USPSA, not IDPA, but the advice is the same. Gun, holster, mags, mags pouches, good belt, lots of ammo and cover garment (for IDPA only). Don't forget ear and eye protection. Get there early, tell them you are new, and you will be guided through the experience. You won't be sorry. You can also just go and watch a match first. Every event I've been to allows spectators at no cost, as long as they have ear and eye protection. But be warned, if you go to watch, you will be sorry if you don't bring your gun. Don't overlook Steel Challenge or USPSA, if you have them in your area. Both are a hoot and the rules are less complex than IDPA. I believe Steel Challenge is easiest way to get into Action Pistol competition.

  13. I was hoping to keep the completed packaging small and simple, that is why I like the idea of the 3.5" touchscreen case. We have monitors and keyboards at home we can hook it up to after the project is complete. The Raspberry Pi 3 comes with wireless and Bluetooth built in, so that saves time and space. I do like the idea of the coding program though, that is what she is interested in. She wants to write video games.

  14. Go. Pretty register, get there early tell them you're a new shooter. They will gave a new shooter briefing. Minimum equipment is: holster with covered trigger, mag pouch or pockets for mags, 3 mags, ammo, and a cover garment (light jacket, unturned shirt, etc). Howler advice of go slow and watch & listen is perfect. Good luck!

  15. Waterproof/Breathable is what you are striving for. Gore-tex had the patent for many years and in some ways is still the best. But there are a lot of newer proprietary fabrics out there that will serve you very well also. Especially in the warm/humid environment in the spring, there is a fine line between waterproof and breathable as you will sweat under most any waterproof material making it somewhat pointless if you end up as wet underneath and you would have been if you had been rained on. Hiking, I find my perfect compromise is the Mamot Precip or similar waterproof breathable fabrics.....but these lightweight fabrics are not super durable and I try to avoid underbrush and other things that could poke a hole in the fabric, but they do a very good job of keeping rain off of you even in extended periods (1 to 3 days). Not sure how such a lightweight fabric would hold up to a range day, but am thinking something Gore-Tex and maybe thicker would hold up better in that situation. YMMV of course.

  16. I've only shot a few and I believe it's a great place to start. A gun, holster, mag pouch (but I have seen guys just use jacket pockets), three mags, cover, and ammo. No flashlight. Sign up and read the range rules before you get there. Watch the other shooters and ask questions. Go slow and don't worry about impressing the other shooters.

  18. When Reagan did it, there was much less water over the dam. This is all carved in stone now. The Democrats want semi-auto rifles and handguns gone, magazines over 10 rounds gone, a background check any time gun changes hands, and a gun registry. You won't see the Republican PARTY make any of that a published set of goals. Reagan is not some kind of god to me. He had some good stuff, but was still an ex-Democrat from California. I will still take him over any of the Democrats, or Gary Johnson.

  20. Look at what motorcyclists use. Driving 70mph in the rain will test the waterproofness. There are several things to consider here... Rainwear is waterproof in both directions. If you are working hard you will be wet from sweat. Goretex can't handle the volume caused by working hard. Good wicking base layers help a ton. Durability, does it need to be tough enough to crawl around on the ground in? If durability isn't the highest priority look at frog toggs or similar. Light remarkably waterproof easy to pack.

  22. Yes he is. Reagan got LOT's of cooperation. Obama didn't. If Obama would have been as successful as Reagan, he would have done a lot more damage. Republicans and Democrats have some of the same qualities, but they are NOT the same.

  25. Here ya go. Put a camper in the back and you have a zombie-proof mobile home. I've often wondered why this isn't the go-to vehicle in The Walking Dead. Zombies between here and your destination... no problem... take the wife and kids with you. Cars blocking the interstate... no problem... drive over them.

  26. Thanks for working on this David. For the record, I am using Gmail. Also, I have been through my settings numerous times. I am pretty tech savvy and I don't think, after all these months and now seeing other chime in, that the issue is on my end. Having said that - you are welcome to remote in and check everything. I can also switch to another email if I need to for the purpose of testing. I really want notifications (well, actually - I will end up buying more....) and I seem to get alerts for everything BUT classifieds. -Jon
