  3. A link to this story was posted in another thread. I thought it deserved its own thread. https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2017/04/john-boch/springfield-armory-rock-river-arms-trade-opposition-to-illinois-ffl-licensing-scheme-for-carve-out/ Liberals are such idiots. This article.... http://www.chicagonow.com/reflections-chicago-life/2016/05/why-illinois-needs-hb1016-the-gun-dealer-licensing-act-and-what-you-can-do-to-make-sure-we-get-it/ makes a lame azz attempt at explaining why they need this. They claim it will take 20-40% of guns used in crimes (I assume that’s what they mean by “Crimes guns”) They claim that four local dealers supplied 20% of the guns found at crimes scenes. So I assume their “fix” for the problem is to close those four dealers. Do these morons think for one minute this will stop criminals from getting guns? They also claim that this won’t cause the price of guns to rise or any gun dealers to go out of business. That's ridiculous. Especially if some of them make legal gun sales that end up at crime scenes. They claim a lack of oversight because they apparently think that the BATF isn’t doing its job. I do not believe that if their stats are true, the BATF is not investigating and auditing these dealers. The President himself and the Attorney General of the United States are trying to address the murder rate in Chicago; I’m sure that has rolled downhill to the BATF. What they do not tell us is how many of these guns they recovered were improper or illegal sales; my guess would be very few if any. If they acknowledge the truth; that people in Chicago (and Memphis, and Miami, and LA, etc.) are shooting each other because of lack of jobs, a poor economy, and a collapse of morals and the family unit, they would have to do something about it. It’s easier to blame guns. As these poor economic and family conditions expand from the big cities to engulf the smaller towns and rural areas; we will need more guns to protect ourselves. It’s easy to say “It’s Illinois” or “It’s California”. But the fact is it’s a big problem for us all no matter where we live.

  4. I wasn't happy with the previous foam cuts, so I re-did it. Much better! When you raise up the silencer tray, there is another section underneath for all the accessories.

  5. Tough hunting in Indiana. Rained on us Friday and Saturday. Did a lot of blind sitting and I can assure you an oatmeal cream pie ain't enough food for 12 hours in a blind! To make it worse, there weren't any birds! We decided to leave Saturday afternoon, but made a call to a buddy who had told me about his family farm in Indiana. Had to drive another couple hours, put the TSS on a couple of good Indiana limb hangers this morning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  7. For those of y'all complimenting dude on keeping his cool, I think what really happened here got missed. I spent over a dozen years working with the public in customer service. That dude has just been in the service industry long enough to have beat down by it that he just didn't care if he got shot. That's what working with the public in the service sector does to you. He didn't have nerves of steel, he just had zero ####s.

  10. These guys took money directly from my family and I hope they rot in jail for a long time. I know they have stolen in excess of 100k in merchandise just from 1 location. It cost my family hard earned bonuses because the shrink was so high at the store. They even threatened employees when they were confronted for shoplifting. There has been a case building against them for over a year now and I am glad they have been stopped. http://www.local8now.com/content/news/Knox-County-Sheriff-and-ATF-investigating-a-Pawn-Shop-off-Western-Avenue--420376643.html Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk

  12. I was a cop many years ago. Apparently things are harder today than they were back then; or maybe not. If we knew this was going on we would have made a case and made arrests. We would not have needed the BATF or other Federal agencies to do it. It appears to me law enforcement was more advanced 30 years ago than they are today. I wonder if it was because we depended on individuals to do their jobs and not on computers?

  15. Financing is the one part of this I'm not worried about. I could put 20% down on my price range with my non-retirement investments, and handle the mortgage that would bring based on my current income. My lifestyle is pretty basic. I'm more of a homebody than anything, and as long as I have a good kitchen, a comfortable chair to read in, and a few good ranges within driving distance, I'll be good. A bit of privacy from the neighbors would be great, but I know that's going to be hard in this area. Honestly, my biggest desire is to not have to waste hours of my life each week on a drive to and from work, hence my 30 min to the west end requirement. Ironically, that's what brought me to where I'm at now. I was living in Murfreesboro within walking distance of MTSU while I was going to school there. Was great for college, but now that I'm working in Nashville, I moved into the city, because that drive was just soul sucking. Right now, I live next to the Sounds ballpark, so I'm in a great area, but I know this isn't a place I want to stay in forever. Just trying to think and plan it all out while I have time.

  19. Matt Just let me know where you are gonna stop for lunch after a range session with these. I promise to leave you a receipt on your windshield. Honestly, I think it is a great looking setup, but there is probably enough in there between hardware and stamps to pay off my car.

  20. The bigger question is what is your budget. Start there, not the other way around. You will quickly narrow down areas that are truly achievable or not. Also make a list of 'must have's' and don't deviate from them or you will regret it. Don't confuse must have with would like to have. There are some basic things I will always require for any house. Time changes must have's, but go with what you must have now. You will certainly sell and buy again before it is all over. West End is unfortunately the absolute worst place to have to get to and from on any day, so watch commute times from any location, not just distance.

  23. I can't help you with a quote, as my experience in this is decades old and I'm not up on current pricing. What I can tell you is to avoid any estimates on price per square foot, as it's one of the most useless methods for estimating construction costs, due to the vast differences in what people consider a "typical" home. Get in touch with some builders who are active in the area, they are much better equipped to give some ballpark estimates if you can provide some minimal expectations as to what you are interested in ...

  24. What I can't fit in magazines goes in 30 or 50 cal cans or stays in factory packaging. With cans, I have found this to be the easiest way to store ammo for use at the range and "grab and go use." It's kind of hard to run a bunch of boxes out to your vehicle vs. grabbing a can. I like the ammo vending machine. That would be a great addition to a man cave or at a private range. I think a gumball machine would be even cooler if there is a way to make it work out there. 31. Mine came with it. Seems very integral to me. Definitely recommend the green if you get one. Note the green is slightly different when getting a holster. I'm still at odds with it for carry vs home defense, but it functions great. Just a preference decision. Sent from my SM-T530NU using Tapatalk

  32. This all started almost a month ago. With no notice, a company listed some Colt USMC M45A1 CQBP for sale on Gunbroker. The seller claimed that these were the actual guns issued to and carried in theater by USMC Special Operations units, including Force Recon. People were very skeptical and thought this had to be a scam. I mean when was the last time you could buy an actual, carried military handgun. A discussion started on the Colt forum and the 1911 forum about these. Some of the guys knew some Colt employees and called them. Colt verified that these were the actual guns sold to and carried by the USMC Special Operations units. The USMC was not happy with the way the coating was holding up and returned a batch to Colt to be replaced. Colt inspected the M45A1s and issued a letter of authenticity with them and x out the USMC to show they had been demilled. Then sold the entire lot to the company selling them on Gunbroker. Now before you could even buy one you had to sign up for the Gunbroker Gold program. It is $50/year and gives you access supposedly to some good deals. These went up for sale Friday afternoon and were sold out by Monday morning. A couple of guys have stated tracking all the sales and compiling a list of the serial numbers. It looks like approx. 475 of the used guns were sold. Word is that there will not be anymore used ones. Then people started hearing rumors of some more guns that were going to be available but these were supposed to be “nib”. Meaning they were bought by the USMC and shipped to their armories but not carried. These went up for sale at a little higher price at the beginning of last week. They sold approx 368 of these with the majority going in the first two hours. They would put a small batch sell them and then raise the price for the next batch. I think they underestimated what the demand for these would be. These have become instant collectibles. Some of the used ones have shown back up on Gunbroker selling for 2.5-3 times what they cost. I was lucky enough to get one of the used ones and one of the “nib” ones. I just got the used one and the “nib” one should arrive next week.
