  1. So anyone who likes Erik's joke, which was mighty clever, is a Trump basher? Lol, you really do need to lighten up, Francis.

  3. Tennesse Sports Foundation Jackson Tn is only about an hour east of Memphis. He would be more than welcome to shoot NRA smallbore Silhouette . We shoot every 3rd Saturday of the month. We have two more official NRA matches this year. Sept. Oct. If he wants to learn marksmanship skills then offhand competition is the way to go. I run the program. I will let him use my rifle for his first few match rounds. That way he can try it. See what equipment he may need. UPDATE Look what you went and started....... I am adding Air Rifle Silhouette to the Match Schedule every 3rd Saturday. This weeks match will be Paper Targets at standard distances. It will get me ready to set up for next years regular NRA Air rifle matches. SO you could. Shoot Air Rifle. Then step over to the next shooting position in the next match round and shoot .22Rimfire.

  5. Ken Burns' documentary on that war premiers on PBS Sunday the 17th. His work has always put together a compelling story and I imagine this will be no different. I am looking forward to it and would love to hear the reactions of those who lived through that era in both a military and cultural sense as I'm sure the series will cover all the bases.

  6. Neat collection. I still have a brick of those old Remington KleenBores. My father used to have many bricks of them my great uncle liberated from who knows where. Over the years, we burned through most of them.

  7. We left some of the best of that generation over there. It's kind of neat watching my dad now. Since he retired, he's gotten really involved in veterans advocacy issues down in Atlanta. He had such a hard time when he came back, but now it's almost like a switch has flipped. He remembers how he was treated and does his best to make sure that nobody suffers through that now. I remember when he was first starting out, they had him talking to a ton of veterans just coming back. He didn't think he had that much to offer or that his story was that interesting, but as it turns out the part of interest was that he made it. He transitioned back into society, had a family and now at 65 years old is still alive. I don't know if he'll watch it or not. He still occasionally wakes up in the jungle and I guess has learned not to turn over some rocks.

  12. It will be tough to watch. I had close family members die in SE Asia. I always assumed I was to follow. I actually ran across my draft card the other day in a box of crap I had picked up from my mom's.

  13. If they were really honest then they would have to call them "Over Priced Guns, Cheaply made Prepper Gear, and Tasty Beef Jerky Shows" You better have a heck of a store of water. lol

  15. I know it was a joke and so was my reply to someone that quoted me. I was poking fun at the Trump bashers that gave thumbs up to Erik's comment, that's all.

  16. The IRS wouldn't be giving up anything. I'm talking about any amount of money that the IRS would normally have to send to me in the form of a tax refund (which, trust me, isn't much - but if I could get a $5000 to $1 excange rate in my favor I'd be able to get some nice things - especially if these arrangements were sales tax free.) Heck, I'd say the IRS would be all for it, in fact. See, when I load the back of my new (to me) Humvee up with my night vision goodies and a couple of cases of those Berettas and some, other goodies then get my FFL in order to legally sell all but the few I will keep for my private collection I will have to report any 'profit' I make off of my new (and temporary) business as a legal firearms dealer as 'income'. Even if I sell those pistols at a really, really good price the IRS will make a decent chunk of change off of the taxes owed on that income (and I am sure I wouldn't be the only one doing that.) So, rather than sitting in warehouses, gathering dust and being slowly lost/taken/stolen that equipment could be enjoyed by the American citizens who paid for them in the first place AND bring tax revenue back in to the government coffers. How could they not go for it? Heck, maybe $5000 to $1 is a little steep. I could probably settle for, say, $1,500 to 1 - as long as the value of the now technically used equipment involved is valued using real 'street' prices and not based on what the government actually paid for it (being that the government is notorious for doing things like paying $800 for a hammer or some such.)

  21. I've met Slappy and LCPfraTN because I've made purchases from them (not guns of course) and, depending on where he flies, I probably know MemHeli but not as a TGO member. Bigun probably lives within 5 miles of me and have probably ran into him without knowing it. Wouldn't be great if we had something to recognize each other by, like a ball cap or something (hint... hint)

  23. I having been buying one ladder stand every year and adding it to a piece of property I hunt. As of this coming weekend I will have have 5 ladder stands and a ground blind. That pretty much covers the property. It is defiantly more expensive doing it this way. The nice thing is now, depending on weather, I can sneak into where ever I need to hunt without much noise.

  24. yeah it's a really hard concept for some "hunters", and regular people too, that if you don't pay land taxes on it then stay the hell off of it. The whole "well it wasn't posted" excuse......your yard isn't posted and no one just hauls out lawn chairs and grill and has a BBQ.
