  1. I would like to buy many things for what I used to pay. Fact is, costs for everything (tooling, resources, materials) is up, including lead (thanks to the EPA). Keep waiting for it to go down and you will be out of it again when the next shortage hits. It's all relative. IF you like shooting 22's, buy what you can now, it isn't going to get significantly better.

  2. Not as cool as Grandpa's rabbit gun, but I thought I'd show off my budget AR10. Dad and I built a matched pair. Bought 80% lowers and machined them ourselves from Daytona Tactical, upper from the same place. I put a cheap Amazon bipod and a UTG scope on mine to keep it "budget" themed and I've been surprised so far with the quality of the UTG. The real test will come in November, when I take it up on the mountain in Kentucky and really stretch its legs against long distance pie plates. For now I'm holding about 2" groups at 100 yards with cheap ammo. Doesn't sound like much, but for me that's an accomplishment! The bipod took some "hardware store MacGuiver" action to get solid, but it was just for fun anyway.

  3. I recently shot the last of the .22 ammo I originally bought 45 years ago. Now I have to start working on all that I bought the last 45 years Rotation of stock is important you know.

  4. He asked that I cut the front down a bit and add a stiffener plate. I'm glad he asked, because I like it a lot better now, and it is quit a bit more functional.

  5. I'm not sure if folks have taken down their feeders or just let them go empty but over the last couple days my group of 5 birds has grown to about 25+ and birds fighting like crazy over my feeders so I have to put up 3 more this morning so now I have 7 up. I had that many up early but nectar was going bad in them with only 5 birds. I'm glad I had enough food to fill the extra feeders...............

  6. A new Senate bill introduced in June by Senators Mike Lee and Mike Crapo would remove federal regulations of firearm silencers, classifying them as firearm accessories. This bill, known as the Silencers Helping Us Save Hearing (SHUSH) Act, would take the Hearing Protection Act (HPA), which is currently under consideration, a step further in protecting the rights of hunters and sportsmen across the country. The bill has also been introduced in the House of Representatives by Congressman Steve King. What would the SHUSH Act do? The current HPA bill, that has 154 co-sponsors, would be a victory for gun enthusiasts across the nation—eliminating processing delays in the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and getting rid of costly tax stamps. However, the HPA bill would still include transfer requirements, that regulate firearm suppressors the same way as firearms. By taking the bill a step further with the SHUSH Act and reclassifying silencers as firearm accessories, the transfer requirements would be removed, making it easier for law-abiding citizens to purchase firearm suppressors over-the-counter. In a press release from Senator Lee’s office regarding the introduction of the SHUSH Act in the Senate, Senator Lee states, “Suppressors can make shooting safer for the millions of hunters and sportsmen that exercise their constitutional right to use firearms every year,” going on to state, “The current process for obtaining a suppressor is far too expensive and burdensome. Our bill would remove these unnecessary federal regulations and make it easier for firearms users to protect themselves.” Hearing protection for gun owners In addition to removing burdensome taxes and processing delays, the SHUSH Act would protect the hearing of gun owners and hunters. Anti-gun advocates, such as Kristin Brown who works for the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, have stated that “there is not evidence of a public health issue associated with hearing loss from gunfire.” However the American Speech Language Hearing Association has found quite the opposite to be true, reporting that firearm use can often lead to “high-frequency permanent hearing loss.” This hearing loss associated with firearm use can make hearing certain sounds of speech and pitches difficult for those that suffer from it. The SHUSH bill would be an important step in protecting the hearing of sportsmen and hunters around the country. In the release published by Senator Lee’s office, Senator Crapo states, “By properly classifying suppressors as a firearm accessory our bill would allow sportsmen to have better access to hearing protection and preserve the hearing of sportsmen, gun owners and those who live near shooting ranges.” Learn more about the use of firearm suppressors If you want to learn more about how you can protect your hearing while participating in shooting sports and the laws surrounding the use of gun silencers in the state of Tennessee, contact our Nashville shooting range today to learn more! 9. I cut the cord with Uverse. That was a satisfying phone conversation to make when I finally made up my mind that I've had it with paying $180/month! It was an adjustment at first. But after a few weeks of cold turkey tv watching, I'm much better off and get to keep more of my money every month.

  12. Well said Hozzie. I don't have a large supply of any one caliber, but what I do have; I continue to purchase as money permits. A bit at a time, although I really prefer to buy case lots, is the least painful way to go about it. That being said, ammo prices right now are really great. IMO, anyway. When I can buy some of my preferred ammo brands at less than 200 a case shipped for 9mm, I can't complain. And S&B 45 is at the lowest I've seen since I got into 1911s. 556 is also pretty low now and doesn't seem to have bottomed out yet. But buy when you can...don't wait and then have to lament your poor judgement.

  13. I am back in the saddle! In late 2012, I purchased one of the first VEPR 12's that were imported with the wooden butt stock. I foolishly sold it a few years ago and I have wanted to fill that void ever since. I finally scratched that itch last week and I bought a factory folding model from Atlantic Firearms. I paid for the rifle this past Thursday, it shipped the following day, and I picked it up from my dealer yesterday afternoon. My hats off to Atlantic Firearms for another flawless transaction!

  16. Oh and by using equifaxes free credit monitoring service (because they've proven to be reliable right?) in the fine print you wave your right to sue them in the forthcoming class action lawsuit. Whats messed up is they have all our info and our kids info. We never gave it to them, they just have it. We have no say so at all.

  23. I, not the company, tend to be of the opinion that it is precisely a diversionary bill. I am hopeful that the intent of the diversion is to say "Hey anti-gunners, we can make this a lot "worse" than the HPA, so fall in line!". But hope in one hand and..., well you know.
