  1. I got some new Ameriglo Pro i-Dot sights. Oh, yeah, and they were for this...

  2. My belief is that Oswald was in fact the only shooter - and was absolutely a patsy. That said, I doubt we’ll learn anything new. I expect the data being protected was more about the structures that protect the office of the President - not the President himself more so than evidence itself. The sad part is that the people who can really answer questions are either dying - or long since buried out in the desert.

  3. I shot a Super Grade M70 not too long ago and it was beautiful. I think they’ve gone back to the pre-64 model extractors as well.

  5. The Model 70 Winchester is, in my opinion, a superior rifle to the Remington 700.

  6. Everything Greg mentioned as well as my personal choice, the American Standard Rifle from the Montana Rifle Company. http://montanarifleco.com/?page_id=149 I absolutely love mine and will be proud to pass it along to my kids Edited to add: I just realized that the finish might not be gloss enough for you with the MRC. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  8. I have carried it EVERYWHERE and have been for quite some time now. I have walked through most stores with it and no one was the wiser. It is part of my EDC, along with a lot of other items, so it is with me every time I leave my house. And anyone here is more than welcome to put some rounds through it.

  9. Dial back the rhetoric a notch or three and don't be so quick to judge. More than a few of us have met dolomite, heard the stories, and understand why he does what he does. You'll be hard pressed to find a more respected member of this community.

  10. You say you keep an AR in your truck for real problems. That tells me that you think a basic handgun is insufficient and would prefer to have an AR. Most folks on this forum would agree. If you could legally, conveniently, and discreetly carry your AR instead of the basic handgun you're acknowledging is insufficient for "real problems", wouldn't you? BTW, why the personal insults? I don't know if you're directing "mouth breather" at me or Dolo, but seeing as how you don't know either of us and Dolo's an American Hero with a capital H in my book, that seems more than a bit unnecessary.

  11. A few years ago, well, many years ago, I delved into the realm of the Ruger Bisley. I had this one made up from a Ruger Blackhawk, a .45 Colt: A friend of mine also got into the Bisley, but in a much bigger way. He went so far as to orchestrate some custom models, such as this one here: After Skeeter Skelton's death, he bid on one of Skeeter's Bisleys, and got it: The one at the top belonged to Skelton. Here, with authentication from Skeeter's widow: This gun was displayed in the photograph of Shooting Times with the article introducing the Bisley. My friend was Tommy Russell, and some time later Tommy's wife died and I have lost contact with him. Bob Wright

  13. Yeah. The bolt is a combination of the M70 and the Mauser claw extractor. The action is like butter with the best trigger I have felt on any rifle.

  20. Yes. While I was selecting a rifle for my hunting rig, with many of the same criteria you had, I handled a few new Super Grades. I was thoroughly impressed. It was going to be the one I purchased until I was able to handle an MRC. After that, it was no contest. The Rem 700 was never truly in the running due to the long running design problems and even the higher end models didn't match up to some of the others I looked at like the M70, the MRC or a Weatherby MkV that was in contention. I know that Made in USA is an important checklist item for you. The Weatherby Mark V might be another option to check as they are still produced in MN. The Vanguard line have their barrels and actions made by Howa in Japan.

  21. ^ I agree. Iv tuned numerous M70 triggers for folks back in my shop days and the design cant be beat. Simple, straight forward and can handle decades of in the field service with nothing more than a brushing and blow gun air if you felt the need to see bare metal there. The Rem 700 triggers used to be OK with detailed maintenance & proper lube & settings. Then they F***ed that all up with new cast triggers (2008?) with terrible pivot pin tolerance that made the triggers flat out unsafe at anything under a 6 lb pull. The foundation of a fine sporting rifle is what ties you to the shot...... the trigger. All other attributes fall in line after that.

  22. My comments apply only to the design of the rifle. The FN made model 70s, as well as the New Haven made pre 64s and Classics (not push feed post 64 models) are great. I have not seen the Portugal assembled rifles, but the reviews I've read speak well of them.

  30. Getting closer to the perfect carry package. Folded it is 19", open it is 29" with the muzzle being just over 26" so it is VFG safe. Sight radius is now 13" and the AR sight works very well with AK front sight. 4 piece comp works the best with this short barrel., very little concussion. Reworked, crisp 2.5 pound trigger.

  31. Gentlemen, please. We have the advantage of knowing Dolo and the reasons why he carries what he does how he does. Newcomers do not. From a practical perspective, take Dolo out of this equation and insert someone else. Our favorite dipstick Voldemort, or a quintessentially villainous looking middle easterner wearing prayer robes with a MOLLE decked plate carrier, or an angry-looking youth wearing all black and a trench coat. If you saw any of those people waltzing into a public area with an AK of any sort, you'd probably start moving toward an exit with your hand near your gun too. BUT, we do know Dolo and we understand the reasons why this meets his specific requirements. This thread might be a good place for him to copy and paste some of his previous explanations here for those who, like French, don't understand.

  33. I would bet that Dolomite likely would draw less attention with this pistol AK if he wanted to than many of the people strapping a Glock .380 to their hip in OWB carry. For some people, "carry" means throwing a folding brace AK pistol in a tennis racket bag and then carrying that over your shoulder. Whether your location, job, etc places you in less than comfortable locations, perhaps "carry" means walking from the parking lot to your work business or from the parking lot to your apartment. Some people may have different life circumstances in which they are in more danger than others, pass through dangerous areas, etc. I don't see how we can jump on one another in telling those people they are wrong to do as they wish when it is legal. I doubt anyone is trying to stuff one of these in their coat, but seeing how Dolomite spent a lot of time on the battlefield, if anyone could do it, it'd be him;) I too do not understand such an alarmist response and the seemingly personal attack.

  34. I carry a 380 about every where I go but it has 15 rounds in it and I also have a back up mag for it. If Dolo wants to pack an AK then I have no problem with him doing just that what so ever!! Knowing somewhat of his background if I were in a place and all hell broke loose with bad guys he is definately one of the good guys I would hope was there to back me up!!!!!

  35. AIUI, there's no maximum length of what a handgun can be, either in federal or TN laws. With no VFG, it remains a handgun so Dolo could carry it with his HCP. Because it's OAL is >26", he can add a VFG if he wants without needing a $200 tax stamp and NFA paperwork. When a VFG is attached, it becomes a "firearm" by ATF terminology. I assume TN would use the ATF definitions and not consider it a handgun if it has a VFG, making it a no-go for carry. As long as there's no VFG, I think he's good to go, but I'm usually wrong and Oh Shoot will correct me shortly. I think that some states do have a length restriction on carry handguns. I've heard that South Carolina limits carry to <12" OAL and Oklahoma is <16" OAL, but I've not done research to know for sure.

  36. So I am somewhat of a gadget geek like many here and have been contemplating buying a 3D printer for a while. Yesterday I bit the bullet and ordered a Creality CR-10S as it comes with great reviews and fit the budget I was looking to stay in. I figured I would use it to make some things for shooting and general playing around, but ran across this youtube showing the creation of Lithophanes. This is incredible. I would have never dreamed you could do something like this. He is using the same machine I got by chance. Anyway, thought it was worth sharing. Watch until the end for the picture of the lion.

  37. Yet most, including the one the OP asks about, seems designed to have hand in front of it. It stops the hand from coming back toward the butt, not from going forward toward the muzzle. Of course, a pistol has no stock, right? (I know, the brace tech does same thing). - OS
