  1. One of the reason I bought a lathe and mill was to do fun projects. Decided that this is going to be one of my long term projects to hopefully complete over the coming year. Just ordered prints. It is for 22LR. Perfectly legal with no stamps, etc so long as you use a hand crank. No electronics or it becomes a machine gun. Using the prints from this site if anyone else is interested. http://www.gatlingguns.net/index.htm

  2. My friend dropped a doe about 2 minutes before this one came in. Then 3 spikes came in and hung out for about an hour. Would have stayed longer but with the high temps we wanted to get that meat on ice. Lots of fun watching the spikes play after a successful hunt.

  5. Wife just had shoulder surgery this afternoon so I won’t be out tomorrow. Weather makes it not be that big of a deal anyway. I’ll be out Sunday Lord willing(and my wife too) and it looks too be a good day! Good news is wife’s surgery went good even though she doesn’t feel too hot right now. So thanks to the Big Man upstairs for a quick recovery for her. Y’all be careful tomorrow and good luck #wearyourharness

  6. Here is a pistol project I just started. It is a Remington Model 7 with an 8 twist 8” barrel with PT&G bottom metal. Still trying to figure out what trigger to use. I also plan on installing a Sako style extractor. The stock is also something I need to sort out. I have some very nice walnut to work with, thanks @mhmd The barrel still needs to be profiled, going to use an M24 profile just shortened to fit an 8” barrel, thanks @LawEnforcementSalesTN My goal is to build several barrels of different calibers and be able to change barrels in minutes. Plans are a 300 Blackout barrel, 223 barrel and a 9mm barrel. And of course all will be silenced.

  9. Looks like it is going to be mild and windy before the bad weather moves in during the afternoon. Sunday morning should a good morning, cold and calm. Wear your orange and be safe.

  10. Why does this quote from Atlas Shrugged haunt me: There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kinds of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted—and you create a nation of lawbreakers—and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Rearden, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with."

  14. It really does not matter to me regardless of the caliber, I don't want to be facing the muzzle of any caliber, especially one a woman is holding................... I have had several LEO's tell me they would rather go up against a 45 Caliber than a 22lr with a bullet proof vest. I don't know how true that is but that is what I have had some tell me.

  15. Now to begin with AJ did make me aware of the extraction issue with certain types of ammo and I also did own a couple Llama's over the years and didn't have any issues with ball ammo but they also did not like Critical defense style ammo rounds and would jam some but they would eat up ball ammo as fast as I could pull the trigger. I just got off the phone with a friend that is a gunsmith here that a bunch of folks know. He informed me that the issue the gun has is not the gun but the ammo. Like back with my old 22 rifle Sam said the older guns were not made to fire todays hotter ammo which most critical defense rounds are. They fire hotter and in many cases the action cannot keep up with it. He said that the FI should do fine using any type of FMJ ball ammo that is used mostly for target shooting but I can expect issues if I upgrade to Hotter ammo. I'm fine with that. I will take it to the range this coming week and run some rounds down range with it. I have done some research of this particular FI and it appears that is was assembled in 1974-1975 before they changed some things on the newer versions. I will talk with the folks at Triple K in California as I saw that they have magazines in stock for both the original series which is what I have and the newer version. He is a picture of the 2 different guns. Mine does have the loop at the bottom of the grip indicating one of the originals.

  16. New career: specialized period movie prop guy, live action, why CGI just won't work. With period correct uniforms spanning it's service life, not only the prop guy, but in the movie and credits as Gatlin Gun Operator #1........Hozzie Seriously though, a lot of history can be taught, from manufacture to end use for fun and organized demonstrations. Good luck, please keep us posted!

  18. There are people who obey laws and people who do not. As far as I know, murder is already illegal. Any further gun laws will only affect law abiding folks. There's my reason for opposing it.

  19. I saw two squirrels fly by. Gave up on the idea this morning. I have a ladder stand I was going to be in. Bad idea as it is moving a lot. Fat, old, bad knees in a moving stand 20 feet up. Hmmm. Nope.

  20. I'm in my new hunting stand, no movement yet. Heard a few shots around me so they're out there, I'll probably hang out until the weather comes in and beds them down. Realy liking my new stand though, better view, 360 deg, and since it's smaller I can look out all four sides with minimal movement. I've about killed 50 asian beatles though, darn things found my stand again, I'm getting a perverse sense of pleasure zapping these darn things. They're landing on me, getting in my shirt and even biting, so it's on.

  21. Doug /Erik, Thank you for the kind words, it is my pleasure to have had the opportunity to meet both of you. Regarding the transaction, Bulk Hungarian 7.62x25 brass, non corrosive. Cleaning out the closet sale price, under promised and over delivered! We did some trading, my favorite, to complete the deal. BG is know the proud owner of an FI Industries Mod D .380 with the coolest roll mark ever "Wash DC" It fits Doug's needs as it adds another .380 to his standard defense caliber. I'm pretty happy as it took a neat gun from a drawer and gave it a new life in the daylight with someone who will appreciate and use it.

  24. Do you know the barrel is tight? It would be worth a try to me. There have been revolvers with loose barrels before. It would explain why the front sight isn't in an upright position.

  28. S&W is making the 986 in 9mm, but its an L-frame. Too big for a 2.5” IMO. Ruger is making the LCR and SP101 in 9mm. Either of those would be small.

  31. A couple of ancillary observations... The post above should be fairly timeless and be relevant 3, 6, or even 15 years from now, but these comments are particular to the current time: AK-47/74 pattern rifles seem to be an exception to the slump in pricing and sales, especially if they were manufactured in Russia. These rifles are actually rising in cost. The past few years have seen AK and AR-15 pattern rifles completely trade places in terms of marketability and cost. Ten years ago, you would have been laughed out of town if you tried to sell an AK for more than a comparably equipped AR. These days, you can buy an AR that you'd actually want to shoot for less than $600 and that sort of money only gets you into a decent AK. Glock 19s tend to still do well on the secondary market because everyone needs one even if they don't really want one. The advent of the Generation 5 Glock 19 doesn't seem to have softened the resale value of the previous generations too much as the Gen5 hasn't had a chance to prove itself and Glock is notorious for having to fix problems with the first few batches of any new generation. The caveat to that, of course, is that modified Glocks don't always sell very quickly unless the seller prices them reasonably and in accordance to what has been done to them. Stippling and custom finishes (like Cerakote) are very polarizing and might only suit the personal taste of the seller. Revolvers, 1911s, and so-called "Brown Rifles" (hunting bolt actions, shotguns, etc.) seem to be fairly immune to the pricing slump since they were never really in the same level of demand as the tacti-cool stuff and consequently, the market was never flooded with a surplus of them. Collector guns are almost always immune to market fluctuation, which is why they are collector guns. When the rest of the firearms market is racing toward the bottom, there's an advantage to being priced at the top - especially if you can command it. Don't expect to see collectibles selling at bargain prices unless someone is really hurting for money and doesn't have a savvy friend to save them from making a hasty mistake.

  33. I am such a dumbass. So I am at my truck trying to load my rifle. For the life of me I can not get he ammo down in the box correctly. It keeps getting jammed and wedged in crooked. I finally decide to use it as a single shot and drop one round into the chamber. The bolt will not close. I am pissed and then had a oh crap moment. I checked the ammo box and I was trying to load .270 ammo into my .308 rifle. Luckily I brought my Colt Anaconda so I at least have something to hunt with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
