  1. Read this on another site and almost hits my life on the head...........LMAO I changed my car horn to gunshot sounds. People get out of my way much faster now. Gone are the days when girls used to cook like their mothers. Now they drink like their fathers.. You know that tingly little feeling you get when you really like someone? That's common sense leaving your body. I didn't make it to the gym today. That makes five years in a row. I decided to stop calling the bathroom the "John" and renamed it the "Gym" . I feel so much better saying I went to the Gym this morning. Old age is coming at a really good time. When I was a child I thought "Nap Time" was a punishment. Now, as an old fart, it feels like a small vacation. The biggest lie I tell myself is..."I don't need to write that down, I'll remember it." I don't have gray hair; I have "wisdom highlights." I'm just claiming to be very wise. Teach your daughters how to shoot, because a restraining order is just a piece of paper and not worth a thing. If God wanted me to touch my toes, He would've put them on my knees and not put that big round pot belly in the way. When I came here I joined a support group for procrastinators. We haven't met yet. Why do I have to press one for English when you're just going to transfer me to someone I can't understand anyway? Of course I talk to myself; sometimes I need expert advice. At my age "Getting lucky" means walking into a room and remembering what I came in there for. Actually I'm not complaining cuz I am a Senager. (Senior teenager) I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 60 years later. I don't have to go to school or work. I get an allowance every month. I have my own pad. I don't have a curfew. I have a driver's license and my own car. The people I hang around with are not scared of getting pregnant. I don't have acne. And I don't stay mad at anyone for long because I forget why I am mad at them. Life is great. I have more friends I should send this to, but right now I can't remember their names.

  3. Well I just recently purchased a '92 Winchester in 25-20, made 1913 with 24" tapered octagon barrel. Haven't shot it yet, but did receive a set of RCBS Cowboy dies, I've scrounged up a little brass, WOW, & some cast boolits to try soon. I do believe this will be a fun gun. 5. Well, here is where I say something to which some - maybe even a lot - may object. I believe that Constitutional protections should apply only to those who are legally in the country. Illegal invaders should have no, such protections or rights. Basic, human rights - sure but not the same rights under the Constitution as citizens or legal immigrants. Illegal aliens should be considered to be outside the standard justice system which should be reserved for people who are here legally. They should be considered to be exactly what they are - foreign invaders who have illegally breached our borders. As such, they should have no standing for them or their representatives, supporters, etc. to even attempt to bring a case to the courts, period, let alone the Supreme Court.

  10. Working on fixing up my JM Marlin 336 and would like to see some pics of others classics. I got this one from my grandpa which he got second hand. It will be staying in the family from here on out. No plans to refinish. Just added a sling kit and have a skinner dovetail aperture sight ordered. I was looking at the receiver version of their sight but liked the aesthetics of the dovetail better. Custom leather sling by Rick Garcia. It is a 1976 mode that has seen its fair share of use and taken plenty of deer. Still smooth as silk though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  11. The Protech Brend 2 or the Runt are both pretty easy to carry in slacks or suit pants. Personally, I like the Brend. Congrats on the new job.

  12. Let me toss a weird one in here. Not an auto. I have one of its big brothers. Light, nice design, good materials. Willis sells these. 15. I second the comment on knives eating holes with the pocket clip. You could always go the pocket organizer to hold a pen light, knife, pen, etc. I did one for myself for certain occasions. I'll see if I can find it and shoot you a picture.

  17. Congrats on the new gig! I've got one of the TGO Runts and it's small, but super nice. A friend has a ZT 450 with titanium frame or scales (both?) that's very light. Instead if clipping it to your pants, perhaps an inside coat pocket would work better. You could use a pocket protector without it being visible.

  18. Well, after convincing my self I probably would never own one of these due to gun show sticker shock, a funny thing happened at the GB C&R listings. I bid the opening bid price and not a dollar more. Were all the Marlin fans out there asleep at their key boards? Apparently because I ended up with this fine example of what Marlin was making back in 1905. Sure, it doesn't have the much desired full crescent butt plate, the barrel joint was described as a bit loose and the poor thing has a bulge in the bore up front as so many do..... but still, the rest of the gun is totally unmolested in original fit and finish with a triple A fancy feathered crotch wood butt. At $575 + $46 to ship with insurance added, this nearly passes for a Religious experience! One major plus is the wood to metal fit. You guys have no idea how much it grinds my guts to see a stock that was sanded below the metal edge lines. Especially on a fine old early cartridge gun. The model 36 (pictured) I have came to me that way . After a thorough examination of the loose barrel shank, I have a plan to repair that and I have a older shutzen gun works .308 stainless barrel that will get turned into a liner and soldered into the 26 inch long octagon. Both of the square bolts are 30-30's & ya gotta love the 9 round capacity of the 1893. Yup, put another neat project on the back burner....

  19. Congrats on the new gig! Clips are hard on suit pants. Get just a little bit of bite on something edgy like G10 and it'll eat a hole in weeks. I dig this little Benchmade Proper: https://www.bladehq.com/item--Benchmade-Proper-Slip-Joint-Knife--69123 I've been carrying the heck out of a Smith and Sons Mudbug is natural canvas micarta lately. It's a lockback commission of Great Eastern Cutlery's Sodbuster. Both are a far cry rom the TR4, but they both pull their weight.

  20. You probably want a more expensive knife, but I carry a SOG Access Card 2.0 as a money clip. It weighs only 1.8 ounces. Using it as a money clip makes it very hard for me to lose. I've owned it for four years, whereas I've misplaced most pocket knives.

  21. I really like this option as well. I like how thin the handle is when open. Overall lenght is a bit longer than the Runt but still pretty manageable. 2.56oz wieght is pretty light

  22. So I didn't realize how truly small the runt actually was. The pictures are deceiving. I sketched out the dimension on paper a got a picture of its actual size. This may be the route to go. I actually like the Runt Tuxedo w Ivory 1.95oz is really light.

  26. I always loved my Runt, but lost it somewhere. I would think it would be perfect for this. Edit: This actually reminded me how much I liked that little knife. I ended up ordering a new one. Looks like I got the last Cocobolo one. https://www.bladehq.com/?search=runt

  28. This is a Colt New Frontier, in .45 Colt: It, to me, is the ultimate Colt Single Action. Medium frame, good adjustable sights, and 7 1/2" barrel. I've seen them in .357 Magnum, but they are rare. And here is a Ruger Three Screw Blackhawk in .357 Magnum: Actually I like Ruger's XR-3RED grip frame better (bite my tongue!) than the Colt grip. This gun is made on the medium frame and is about the same size as the Colt. This is a fine gun but there are still "wants" in my craw. I've long envisioned a 7 1/2" barreled, adjustable sighted .32-20 Single Action revolver, either one of these would do. But for, say groundhogs out to maybe 100 yards or so, wouldn't something like this be dandy? Maybe even coyotes? Bob Wright

  31. I went to the range yesterday morning for the first time since my surgery. It has been over seven weeks since I fired a shot. I took this old Super Blackhawk: I've been shooting close up, duelist style; that is standing, one handed, as ranges not over ten yards, and using a six inch stick-on Shoot -N-See target. I had figured a pretty bad outing, for lack of practice for so long. Much to my surprise, I didn't do too badly. Shooting at eight yards, twenty-five rounds went through the black, and left a large jagged hole. Why did I do so well? Well, I did spend considerable time dry firing. This helped keep my muscle tone and my concentration up to par, and I'm sure that dry firing practice did keep me in shape. Bob Wright

  32. We usually have Turkey & dressing and Country Ham but also my sisters husband does a crock pot of backstraps with carrots, taters and onions . I eat a plate of each before I go to my baby sisters to eat . Hopefully I will get a couple so I can give him one otherwise I get no deer at Christmas. Besides , my dad died in august and I have three of his rifles that I really want to get a deer with this year . He wasn't able to hunt last year and his High Wall 38-55 has yet to get blooded . I'll be off again Thursday and Friday and its supposed to be colder so maybe my prospects will improve . Eddie

  35. I just saw this question. In the current version of Windows 10... Get to the desktop. Right click on the desktop. Scroll down to display settings. Left click on display settings. Click on resolution Select the one with (recommended) after it. If none say (recommended), select the highest setting. On my laptop, it's 1366x768. Click "Keep changes" If you don't know how to get to the desktop, you can get to display settings from the default "Modern Design UI" that shows when you boot up Windows 10. Post back here and I'll ferret out the clicks to get there. Of course, it could just be that a new update of Windows 10 doesn't work with your graphics card.

  36. I see more lawsuits coming out of this, there is no way you can tell me marijuana use isn't comparable to alcohol use, or even prescribed opiate use. Next you'll be required to turn in all your weapons before getting an operation due to the morphine.

  37. The Hypocrisy is strong with this one...It's ok to go against federal law by allowing "medical marijuana" use, but lets use federal law to grab guns if you use marijuana, that we the state have allowed you use, contrary to federal law..

  39. This was handed down from my favorite uncle. 1892 in .25-20. He purchased it new on a trip in Colorado. I believe he said he paid $25 for it at an auction; a hardware store was closing down. I thnk he was 13 years old. He named it Schatze, a german word for sweetheart. Matter of fact all three of these guns were his.

  41. First of all... Have you rebooted? Many times that fixes the problem. Do a full power down, not just a reboot. However, my money is on what Garufa said. It sounds like your resolution got wacky. The place to find that is different based on the version of Windows 10 you have. They do O/S updates all the time now, and move settings every time. As Garufa said, right-click on an empty part of the desktop and select "Display Settings". Depending on your version, you may see a link called "Advanced display Settings". If you see that, click it. If you don't see it, you are probably already on the screen you need. Either screen, you are looking for another pull-down menu named "Resolution". Pull that down and select the "Recommended" setting. It should change the view and ask you if you want to keep that setting. If it still doesn't look right, you can experiment with other choices.

  42. If fiddling with those settings has no effect maybe your video card is flaking out. Try shutting down your computer and unplugging it for 5 or more minutes then fire it back up. There will also be a setting in your monitor to automatically adjust or reset to default. You’ll have to go through the monitor buttons/menu to find that. Try either or. Doesn’t really matter which one you do first.

  43. Most folks call it a "ring". When some debris like a chunk of dirt, stick or anything that can fall into the barrel afield obstructs the bullet's path out of the barrel. At first the bullet tries to ride over the dedris and once the crap wedges between the bullet and bore, it stalls the bullet's speed just enough that the pressure tries to get past the bullet, creating a bulge ring. Some times you can see the bulge ring more pronounced on one side of the barrel. I'v had to shorten the barrels just rear of the bulge ring on a few 30-30's a 30-06 and a 7mm mag. Also I'v see a few on 22 LR guns also. Oddly, my friend has an old Winchester 22 with a bulge ring about 4 or 5 inches from the muzzle that still shoots relatively well. On another note.... When I used to do customer returns at Auto Ordnance West Hurley, we had a Thompson 1927 come in with a complaint that the rounds keep exploding over the magazine when fired. In that case, the owner unknowingly fired a squib load that lodged about 2/3rds of the way down the bore. THAT I can understand..... but I had a WTF moment after band sawing the barrel length wise, there were 12 bullets stacked up one behind the other. No wonder why I couldn't knock them out! That one simply got a new barrel and went back to the owner. Another one had only 2 or 3 rounds stuck in the barrel and that one cracked the barrel at the traffic jam over the last bullet.

  44. Yes, I’m from a rural area. Grew up outside a town of 4,000 people, but about 20 miles from a town of 40,000 people. When we lived in Maryville, TN from 2011 to 2014, we lived about 8 miles from town out off Highway 129 (not far from The Dragon). I love being out in the country, which is why we’re looking at areas a good ways away from Jackson. We are actually looking into buying a house with at least 20 acres (40 preferably). Likely sometime this summer. We have to sell our house here in Missouri first though. I really want some deer hunting land & a good spot to build me a gun range. I’m not settling for any less than that. We are still looking hard at the Lexington area. My wife talked to a lady at City Hall on the phone today & she was really nice. We are also combing areas north of Lexington too (north of I40). I can’t be too far north though. I’m interviewing for a job that will have me covering Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, & possibly Georgia & Florida. Trying to keep my drive time down, even if it’s just 30 minutes less. Of course, if I find my dream home up by Paris or something, I’m not going to let 30 minutes get in my way.

  45. There's some really nice areas north of Jackson, but south of Jackson is getting too close to Memphis for my taste. Have you ever lived in a rural area? The good thing is that is far away from everything. The bad thing is that it is far away from anything. For the most part, any place in Tennessee, away from the larger cities is a good place to live. Oh yeah...welcome back!

  46. I live over in Henderson County (Wildersville) I also drive a truck all day long doing home delivery, by far the nicest area ive seen is around Three Way (Medina and Milan) There are good and bad parts everywhere. I am all over the place and I was looking for a normal housing track type housing Medina has it. I however wanted land so im out 22 miles from jackson and happy to be here.
