  1. I'd like for the holiday to return to a celebration of the birth of our savior instead of the ridiculous sham it's become.

  5. Don’t try it again. It will not fix the problem. Time to uninstall your graphics driver. I’ll throw up some instructions to do that in a little while when I get on a proper computer. If that doesn’t work it goes back to a hardware problem (or not enough fiddling with adjustments).

  7. The issue here is really simple...who decides what is 'reasonable precautions and properly installed safe". That is the crux of the matter. I believe we all secure our valuables in some fashion. Most here would use a safe. But having a politician, especially a gun control liberal, dictate the method is not acceptable to me.

  17. Yeah, DACA is a bunch of horse malarky. I understand that those folks didn't come here illegally on their own but so what? As young adults they have stayed here illegally. If a kid's parents rob a bank, use part of the money to buy their kid a car and then get caught does the kid get to keep the car and benefit from the parents' crime just because he or she wasn't actually involved in the robbery? Further, when people bemoan that several hundred thousand DACA members - many of whom have received an education here - could be deported rather than being allowed to stay and get jobs I say, "Good. That is several hundred thousand jobs for the people who are here legally." These aren't the (mostly fictional, I believe) illegals who are going to be doing jobs that legal citizens supposedly won't do. By the way the media (which is very sympathetic to their cause, in general) describes them, these are people competing with legal residents and citizens for good jobs, many that require college degrees. So removing them as competition for American jobs is a good thing. Further, maybe having a large influx of American educated, motivated young people coming into their countries of origin (and, let's face it - most of them are probably from Mexico or Central America) can help those countries fix their own problems so people don't need to illegally invade our country. As far as the freebies, etc. I saw something recently that said 80% of immigrant-led households receive some type of government assistance. I don't remember the source that was reporting the number but I do remember being amazed because it was a source that was supportive of illegals staying, etc. I figure we have enough poor people in this country - many who are 'working poor' - who need help. We don't need to import them and we certainly shouldn't be rewarding people for coming and/or staying illegally..

  18. Excellent advice as usual willis! I only posted that link as it was the first search result in my results, I have no clue where my coworker procured it but it's been a good little knife to add to my mix despite that I also generally prefer no serrations in my daily carry.

  23. Folks, please be careful buying knives on Amazon, throughly check out the store that you buy from as a professional knife sharpener I have seen at least 5 knives sold from Amazon that were fake, I have let several companies know about this they all say if a price is too good to be true, it is because they are fakes it is always best to buy from a dealer like myself who will have your back and NEVER sell something That is not the real deal

Got to spend some real time with my brother, life had denied that in any quantity for the last 25 years, he a Dr. (Interventionist Radiologist), me in the Heavy Industrial Manufacturing construction business, both demand all of your time, fractured families and lost dreams are the result of such avocations. He retired in September, I took the first vacation days not spent at the TN Legislature in 10 years (two full weeks). We caught up, buried a couple of hatchets and had a genuine good time in each others presence. Montana was gorgeous, I got to stand on Last Stand Hill and marvel at Custer's stupidity, saw a lot of country I had never seen except out of the window at 30K feet. I wish we had done it 25 years ago, but at least we did it now!

  29. I was wondering if perhaps your monitor got out of whack? Can you still see the Start Button on the bottom left, and the clock on the bottom right? Does it appear as though you've lost things off the edges of your screen? If so, then you may need to try and adjust your monitor. First off, power off everything... the PC and the monitor. Then power it all back on. If that didn't fix it. then look for some buttons on your monitor. Every one is different and the way you adjust them are different. You'll have to experiment with them to figure out the menu system, but buried in there somewhere is a way to adjust the width, height and position of the screen. This functionality is also build into the display driver of some video cards. Without knowing your PC model, or your video card type, I can't tell if yours is like that or not. Regardless, look for some software that might be related to your video card. Sometimes it's hidden in the little tray area to the left of the clock on the task bar. Click the ^ button and hover over the icons that show up and see if any of them are graphics related. If you find one, click it or right-click it and poke around.

  36. Your not going to get an argument out of me on this at all. As soon as they come across the border without a Green card or work Visa they are automatically a criminal that has broken a law in this country and should have no Constitional protection what so ever. That is exactly why the first thing they do is run yowards any sanctuary city or state they can get to because they know they will be protected. I really wish that all of the illegal Imigrants in this country would flow like an Exodus of Biblical Proportion to California including all of the gang members of MS13 and then the Federal Government needs to cut all Federal Funding to California. Put every extra federal agent they have on the state line between California and any state that borders California and arrest every illegal Imigrant that tries to leave when the food runs out. Lets see how bad California really wants to be a Sanctuary State? It will also set an example to any of these other so called Sanctuary Wannabe's both cities and states. If all the states would cut all Freebees to them and stop feeding them and stop all the healthcare they might get an incentive to go back home. Maybe if they don't object to your post they probably will mine JAB. I don't believe in any type of program that gives them an incentive to remain here and that includes DACA!! My Children and my Grandchildren come first!!!!!

  37. Well, here is where I say something to which some - maybe even a lot - may object. I believe that Constitutional protections should apply only to those who are legally in the country. Illegal invaders should have no, such protections or rights. Basic, human rights - sure but not the same rights under the Constitution as citizens or legal immigrants. Illegal aliens should be considered to be outside the standard justice system which should be reserved for people who are here legally. They should be considered to be exactly what they are - foreign invaders who have illegally breached our borders. As such, they should have no standing for them or their representatives, supporters, etc. to even attempt to bring a case to the courts, period, let alone the Supreme Court.

  41. Ya need to remember just how the Second Amendment got to where it is... The Second Amendment was, in fact, the second amendment as written originally until after the Civil War... Reconstruction state houses in each state passed restrictions on the second amendment in order to disarm certain non favored classes of folks... That's why most every state constitution has words similar to the Tennessee State Constitution that read kinda like this... "....The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, BUT, the legislature shall have the power to regulate the wearing of arms with an eye toward keeping the peace"..., or some such other platitudinous baloney... "The regulation of the wearing of arms" thing in the state house effectively put the control of the LEGAL wearing of arms and the Second Amendment in the hands of the state house politicos... That's why it's so important to watch what the state house does on this issue... That allowed the Federal Gubmt (...Federal Courts...) to "hands off" and defer judgements on the Second Amendment at the state level... The Federal Court will not outright allow the banning of arms, but they will give every leeway to each individual state legislature... That is why ya have to watch the state house actions on this issue, and that's why (...i think, at least...) these other cases were not taken by the Supreme Court... leroy

  42. The SCOTUS has made it clear they will give a lot of discretion to the states on how and where guns are carried. They have also made it clear that arguing an AR isn’t an assault weapon doesn’t hold water. We need to remain focused on our state laws. Expanding Federal gun laws is a terrible idea.

  43. Yes because we need to pass a law to reduce the 0.0066% of firearms stolen each year. It's a rounding error, just like the national background check system is a rounding error, which has a 80-90+% false positive rate. These laws don't protect people, or do anything to reduce crime.... Stop the failed war on drugs would be the best way to reduce crime, and would save us a lot of money as well.

  44. I understand what everybody is saying, but I should be able to lay my firearms on display out on the front porch and nobody bother them. I guess I'm just trying to wrap my head around how I could be responsible because some lowlife thief breaks down my door and steals my guns. For what it's worth, most of my guns are stored securely in the safe, but I don't really like the idea of being held to some "secure firearm" standard.

  45. Ah, yes, "responsible precautions." The favorite vague argument of Charles Schumer and Dianne Feinstein and other would-be tyrants who think they know best how others should run their lives and businesses. These businesses all have insurance, and I would let their insurance companies decide what theft prevention steps the businesses should take to qualify for policies. Risk assessment and evaluation is what insurance companies do best. Assuming that you have guns, let me ask this: How comfortable would you be with someone else deciding how many locks and safes and alarms you should have at your house to qualify as a responsible gun owner? 46. If we're going to get a free-market solution to this problem then it will be in the form of something making low security cost more than reasonable security. Insurance policies that require reasonable and specific security measures or they won't pay for the loss might be one route. If they stop making it easy for the shops to file a claim and lose nothing but their deductible then suddenly a few $K in some security vs. losing a whole lot more in inventory sounds like a smart move to the owners. Either that, or civil lawsuits start flowing in when the stolen firearms are used in crimes and the victims can convince a jury that the gun shop was negligent by having no more security than a donut shop. That wouldn't be hard at all and I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet. The cost of defending (much less losing) a suit would see most shops go under, and any other with low security making some changes toot sweet.

  47. This is the same argument that leftist authoritarians use for banning firearms: "There should more laws to make these people do what I want them to do." Are you sure this is the kind of legal philosophy you want to advocate? Whisper
