  1. Picked up a 590a1 to go with my Daniel Defense AR-15 and a couple of MOD 2's (9 and 45). Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

  2. This is a solid thought process imho. I've carried Glocks (19 or 17) for a long time. But when I picked up my 9mm Shield (prior to Glock finally releasing the 43) I ran about 750-1000 rounds of ball through it, and 100 rounds of several different SD rounds through it before I felt comfortable carrying it for the reason btq mentions. The majority of those rounds were in various "Drills" such as TG's FAST Test, Bill Drill, Dot Torture and such, strong hand and non-dominate hand, as much to determine my capability with the gun as it's functionality. I still carry my 19 the majority of the time, but maintain familiarization with the Shield for it's niche applications. Sidecarist makes some good points as well. Lint, dust, and general grime certainly play into reliability. A little lube and spring maintenance can go a long way in keeping one up and running smooth. And changing out those recycled (repeated chambering of SD rounds) is a prudent thing to do I've seen quite a few quality manufactured SD rounds setback from this action.

  3. I've only had about 30min with it but so far it's working well, the app doesn't crash, my phone. I'll have to try it on a couple of guns, striker, hammer etc. I will say that it helps me be more critical of myself by showing the movement of the gun before the shot, and does that match what I think I was doing. Give me a week and I'll post more, maybe start a thread. I want to get some live fire in with it too.

  4. These were made from farrier's rasps as requested by the customer. The first picture is what each blade started from. They all had Arizona Desert Ironwood handles with SS Loveless bolts as well as epoxy. The rasps had to be normalized, worked, then heat treated and tempered. The block is made from walnut. Thirteen pieces make up the block then glued, jointed, sanded, stained and finished. It took the better part of a month working part time to finish the set.

  6. Does it annoy anybody else that once again a gun company has resurrected a classic model name and put it on just another piece of plastic? This stuff pisses me off no end.

  8. A 300 gr. bullet with a 2" long case, regardless of velocity, just doesn't seem to fit in "plinker" category to moi. - OS

  9. I have not purchased a new gun in sometime but same can be said about the guns you have been packing for sometime also. I realized just reading this post that it has been a little longer than normal that I have been to the range to put some rounds down range with both of my carry guns. I have been rotating between the 2 but have not been burning power in either. I need to look into going to the range soon after 1st of the year and run some rounds through both of them and then come home and clean them.

  10. I picked on 1911's only because that's a very common example. Tight anything won't run full of lint and daily dirt from carry. Even reliable weapons need to be inspected regularly. I once found the remains of what I think was a brown m&m blocking the hammer on a high power that wouldn't fire. The customer couldn't believe it. It took me 30 seconds to find, he never even looked! He also hadn't shot the gun in 6 months. I haven't had a good quality modern gun choke on me in a long time. Feed them well and give them a little love... After all your life may depend on it!

  11. I can’t keep up with Ruger. So they now have three budget lines of 9mm’s?

  12. The few people I heard the other day didn't seem to care either way. A few of my friends were happy like me. I'm buying my old G22 and have the extractor , spring loaded bearing , ejector , and conversion barrel to make it shoot 9mm.

  13. I see little reason to require 500 rounds through a modern handgun before you feel comfortable carrying it. Run a few mags through it. If it works, carry it.

  15. Just got this via another member. Can't wait to run it. I have a 10 pack of mags on the way too. Really got to beef up my ammo stock. I don't have a lot of 7.62x39 since only my SKS uses it.

  21. I just returned from a far away land where Iced Tea always comes unsweetened, and if you dare to ask for Sweet Tea, they give you a disgusted look and point at the sugar packets on the table.
