  1. IMO, many need Jesus Christ working on their hearts and minds. Like it or not, "Real Religion," taken to heart," makes one more tolerant of others.

  4. I agree with the social media. Anonymity allows folks to say things they'd never say in public. Then there's the fact of just how divided we are as a nation. Everybody has a complaint, a cause, or a movement. It mostly just makes me have a movement if you know what I mean...

  5. I grew up the old fashioned way: I KNEW my opinion didn't matter. But you're right, not only do people seem to be more sensitive, they're also constantly on the lookout for some way to get their feelings hurt and be offended. They also think it's their right-privilege-responsibility to police the "airwaves" and be offended for someone else and to set out the "offender" so that the "offender" can be brought back into lock step. Come to think of it, it reminds me of communism

  6. I am splitting this thread off from the other one. So, I put in a small order for a few samples from the company I have in mind. They won't arrive until mid February. These aren't done off-shore, it was just a condition of the small quantity and taking advantage of an offer they made to digitize the TGO logo for me for free if I didn't mind the delay. That said, I am also going to speak with them about a storefront for TGO. They will do all order fulfillment, which is nice. I'll let you guys know what we need to do to get this rolling after I speak with them.

  7. I think everyone, myself included, needs to go spend an entire day at the range, then spend half the night cleaning guns or otherwise occupy themselves in a way that does not include the internet or television. It’s taken me a long time to realize but bitching about other people bitching does nothing but raise one’s blood pressure just prior to a few minutes of calm satisfaction after enough people have bitched along with you. Then the cycle starts all over again.

  9. I think avoiding all of the offeneded criteria is tough these days! I am not black, LGBTQABCD...Z, Latino, Catholic, Islamic, immigrant, or most other categories. I am an old, grumpy, veteran though which I guess fits somewhere. I am working on my personal failures, numerous I am sure but the worse are: not being tolerant of stupid!, no sympathy for easily offended folk, not caring what other religions think, and the biggest failure personally is being a passionately patriotic veteran. Now if any of those offend you I suggest you reread the first failure I listed. Love the USA or get out! Pretty simple. That and leave me and mine alone and I will leave you and yours alone. As long as whatever we do does not interfere with the rights of the other then have at it! You see, that is where most of the over sensistivity is coming from, minding others business! If everyone would get back to minding their own it would ease up. I guess we have the internet to thank for that one!

  10. Is it just me or is everyone a little sensitive lately? I understand we ALL have things going on in our life that puts undue pressure on all of us, but really? It's your choice how to react to that pressure. It seemed when my wife was going thru cancer treatment our best medicine was a laugh and a smile. People today get so involved in everybody else's business and getting pissed off for them. Is our society needing more fiber or a colon flush?

  11. I am not so sure about that. I think some people just feel like they are either obligated or entitled to stick their nose in where it doesn't belong. I am not the biggest Hank, Jr. fan but your post made me think about this song from back around 1981, well before the Internet. BTW, this has long been one of my favorite songs of his. Of course that song pretty much re-iterates the sentiment in this song from his father (and I am a Hank, Sr. fan)

  12. Glad your getting it figured out. The manual also discusses disassembly. Don’t do it! They either go back together with little effort or will have you cussing and throwing the thing across the room.

  14. The past few years people don't seem to be happy unless they're miserable. They expect a trophy for getting out of bed in the morning & if they don't get it, they're gonna' hold a march to protest whatever "thing" someone on social media said they have to be upset about. It seemed to have started right around 2008 & progressively got worse over the next eight years. If you walk down the street without wearing a "MLK" or "black lives matter" shirt, you're being racist. If you don't "friend" someone online, you're being insensitive. If you're not "politically correct" enough, you're being offensive. What the hell is wrong with America these days?!

  15. It's not just young people. The fact that TGO has had to scrap certain areas of the forum is a good indicator that everyone is a bit too sensitive these days. I see a lot of people acting as though only the "snowflakes" have cornered the market on hurt feelings. That's just not true.

  18. I’m almost entirely convinced that you get better service and a better relationship at a dealer that’s outside of a major metro market. I don’t know what it is - maybe it’s that there’s always someone walking in behind you in a big dealership. Maybe it’s just a small town thing. I traveled to buy my last truck after I just couldn’t find anyone who much wanted to sell me one here in the Nashville area.

  19. Well, the instruction manual did it. It showed me where to pull back . I had already tried this but lightly, this time I gave it a tad harder pull and, voila. The round was chambered. I fired the pistol, no recoil, great. I have a feeling my husband had this for a target pistol as there are some weird sights on it, Matchdot II. Now I have to figure out how to use the Matchdot, when I look through the sights it is a greenish tinge. I remember my husband showing me a sight onetime that when held correctly crosshairs came into the view. I do not know if this is the sight or not. More learning to do.....A big thanks for the manual and also thanks to others who offered suggestions. It can be overwhelming trying to figure out another persons interest. Oh yes, I cannot get the safety to move. I'll go back to the instruction manual to see if they offer any suggestions. Found it. The manual said the hammer must be cocked(the bolt pulled back, in my terms) before the safety can be put to On.

  23. Hey folks. As I have mentioned before, I am looking to do regularly scheduled podcasts to help bring us even closer together as a group. If you've ever just sat around a coffee table, campfire, the gun shop counter or even the shooting range, and talked about shooting, guns and everything that goes along with it... you've got the general idea of what our podcasts will be about. I am a pretty big fan of podcasts as a form of media. I listen to quite a few of them each week during my commute to and from work or while exercising trying to get a little healthier. Some of my favorites make me feel like I'm right there in the mix, listening to what the hosts and guests are talking about, and learning from them in the process. I am not big on any sort of media where I feel like I am being preached at or condescended to, which means there are some relatively popular podcasts that I don't care anything about too. Other than to use this thread to tell you that podcasts are coming soon, I also want to hear from you. I want your suggestions. What do you want to hear about? We can certainly talk about the latest firearms industry news and buzz, but what other things do you want to hear discussed and who do you want to hear from? I have started a thread over on TGO's sister site, Shooters Nation, to gather input. I can't promise miracles and some of what you suggest may take some time to put together, or be outright impossible to deliver, but I will try my best to make sure that any podcast we release is worth listening to. If you have a moment, stop in and give me some feedback: https://www.shootersnation.com/forum/threads/podcasts-coming-winter-2018-suggestions-welcomed.7/ Thanks in advance!

  24. Yeah yeah yeah. If I think there is really enough interest in it, I will try to get something going again. The place I've found that would be easiest for all of us to use produces things on par with what we had before, which is to say of considerably better quality than Cafe Press or Spreadshirt or any of those other places. These folks do actual embroidery, just like we're all accustomed to from before. Setup to have them produce stuff for us is going to set me back about $150. I've got to be sure we can sell enough hats and shirts to recoup at least 50% of that up front and the other 50% over the next few months otherwise that's just money out of TGO's operating budget out the window.

  26. I would be in big trouble if i had shirts made for some of my thoughts! I already have the obvious ones but it would be a lot of fun to get some made for when I have to venture into certain areas. Like college areas! I would hate to see mass snowflake melting.

  27. LOL not for me, you'd be shocked at some of the things Ive been asked to make, it's the general public that seems to expect everyone else to follow a moral code that they want nothing to do with.

  28. Just FYI, around here folks refer to our bodies of water as Norris Lake, Watts Bar Lake, Loudon (they don't bother saying the word "lake"). When you say the word "Lake" first people start assuming you might be from the north side of the Mason-Dixon. Welcome to the region and good luck finding what you seek. You might look around the Roane County area close to Watts Bar. It provides plenty of structure fishing and not too far from everywhere. Around here folks call it the "Promised Land", because most of the land is promised to a niece, nephew, son or daughter.

  31. I live in Sumner County and dealt with Don Franklin Ford out of Columbia, Kentucky over the internet. We found the vehicle we wanted on the internet and we sent them pictures of our trade-in vehicle. We negotiated the entire deal over the internet and they had the new vehicle and all the paperwork ready to go when we got there. We couldn't get a better deal in Middle Tennessee and it was well worth the aprox 2 hour drive. Tommy Stearnes was our salesman and he really worked to get the deal right.

  32. Engineered stupidity is pretty much at the forefront. I'm glad we can point out this stuff here amongst ourselves. Seems to be one extreme or the other on most gun forums I see: either your not manly or "tactical" if you're not an "ice-hole" or they're part of the "oooh, oooh, oooh you can't say that, it's offensive and hurt my feelings" crowd. What ever happened to "well me, David, and GT disagree on this here problem, so let's figure out which one of us has the right idea and git 'er done" kind of mindset. This whole blasted country is bogged down in a quagmire because "feelings." Now what did I do with that "For Sale" ad for that island......

  40. I have had a great experience with Wyatt Johnson (the old Crown Ford). I was looking for a specific configuration, and of the three dealers that had what I wanted, they were the only ones that would take my deal. One benefit if you every get stick waiting around the dealership, they are a stocking dealer for both Roush and Shelby, so there is plenty to drool over to kill the time. I will PM you my sales guys contact info if you want. He was great, and still calls or texts every few weeks.

  41. I'm retired now so that means when I get up most days the only thing I have to do is mind my own biz. So I try not to make comments on the inter web. I have found by doing so someone will take over the only thing I had to do that day. So most of the time I try to add just a small joke or offer support to someone.

  42. I bought my 2011 Raptor at Beaman Ford in Dickson. My salesman was Ken Godwin. I built the truck online took my cost verses dealer cost in and made a deal with Ken. I felt like I paid as little as I could for a truck that was/is in demand. Ken has always been there when I had a question about anything. MY brother-in-law has been in car business for almost 30 years in AZ and he said "keep Ken". My 2 cents.

  43. I attended their first 3-gun match Saturday. Raleigh Prince is the match director. 5 stages, with a mix of bay and natural terrain. Scoring was Time Plus Penalties and done on Practiscore. Rule Set was a modified IMG I think (similar to Manchester). Most difficult rifle target was a 12" steel plate at 410yds. They had plenty of brand-spanking new targetry, mostly from Red Stitch Targets. Scores were posted the day after the match. It was a good match at what is shaping up to be a great facility. My only complaint was all the soupy mud and road conditions, but that is to be expected with all the new construction and the first thaw after all the cold/snow/frozen crap we've had lately. I'm looking forward to seeing how this place continues to build on the huge amount they've already accomplished in a relatively short time.

  44. No, don’t assume that because you don’t think the sign meets the requirements of the statute it is legal to carry past it. You could possibly be charged (although we haven’t heard of anyone being charged on this forum that I know of). Then you can explain to the Judge that it’s not a legal sign. A Murfreesboro Officer told me they give a trespass warning. But I’m sure the Officer has the discretion to do whatever he sees fit based on the circumstances. It’s a $500 fine only offense. You would spend more than that on a defense. If I were a Judge or Juror, the only question I would need answered is did you not know what that sign meant when you saw it? As stated above, don’t do business with places that have policies you don’t agree with; spend your money elsewhere.
