  1. Anyone ever saw one of these? Neat things and a neat story. 5 shot .45 that is hand cycled. At its widest point, the gun is 0.8125 inches across. Overall length is just 5.3-inches with a respectable 3.75-inch barrel. I am thinking that since it was for deep cover that the hand cycling to eject the brass might be to avoid leaving evidence. Size comparison to a Khar PM45c The story. http://www.amderringer.com/lms.html http://www.guns.com/2013/05/17/the-semmerling-lm-4-pistol-sleek-strange-secretive-sought/

  2. How bout we punish criminals instead of law abiding citizens?

  3. I own neither, but have shot both. I love Glocks, I carry a 19 every day and shoot a 34 or 19 in IDPA and USPSA. That being said, I preferred the Sheild to the 43. It wasn’t even a close contest for me. The Sheild fit my grip better and I shot it consistently faster and more accurately than any other plastic gun I’ve ever fired. There was no learning curve either, just picked it up and instant gratification. I can’t comment on how it feels to carry, but I’m sure it’s more comfortable than a 19.

  5. We're coming up on fishing... and snake season. What are some effective snake shot rounds you've loaded for the 38 Special, without using the plastic capsules? I like the complete "roll your own" loads. Some say the larger size bird shot penetrate better and others say the smaller #12 shot effects more of the nervous system and there's no wriggling after the shot. I've also seen some vids that seem to suggest a shorter barrel patterns better than a longer barrel. Anybody got any experience with their loads in the field...or on the river bank?

  6. It's a massive potential problem. It is so much easier for one bad actor to grab and hide terabytes of data, than to know that he/they ever did that, and then get it back and erased with certainty. That may even be impossible. The ONLY way to protect against this is to stop data collection from even happening at the earliest and lowest level.

  8. As far as the residence part, yes, and I think you'll find that is ATF policy based on case law. And another point is that only the seller can commit a crime at this point, as the buyer has not violated federal law until he brings the firearm back into his home state (or causes it to be delivered there). The age factor is a bit more iffy since simply "looking young" I suppose could be "reasonable cause to believe" the buyer is a minor. I don't know enforcement policy based on case law regarding that. All that said, unlike some, I find it quite reasonable to simply ask for ID during a private sale. - OS

  9. M&P fan here. No question with the shield. My EDC. I have the 1.0, 2.0 some improvement. From what I have read on some instructors sites, avoiding the PC with the porting. Getting metal frag blow back; especially shooting from retention. Friend of mine from an agency said that they could not use any ported guns for similar reason.

  10. I agree with Steelharp. Both my girlfriend and I tried to like the 43 but we both kept going back to the Shield. Much better shooter. They improved the trigger with the 45 acp version and the 2.0 is sweet. Having said that, I just picked up a P365 and it is amazingly accurate. Put 250 rounds through it Friday and no issues. Birthdate on gun was March 29. Sig puts that on the label. I will keep my Shield for now but the P365 is worth a serious look if you do not have a carry gun. It will replace several in my rotation if it continues to impress.

  11. You might want to check out the Sig P365. Light weight, good grip for a small gun, and holds more rounds than the G43 or Shield. I have only held one but is on my list is on my list to buy.

  12. I speak as a guy that was in general not an M&P fan. That changed when the .45 Shield appeared. Dumped my G36 for one, and never regretted it. I would pick the Shield over the 43, easily.

  13. Ok, no argument from me on this! I totally believe in a few Constitutional words that go like: SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.

  14. I was a fairly early adopter of the 40 back in the day. it offered befter stopping performance in a 9mm size package back then. 9mm terminal performance was thought to be marginal. In the last 15 years or so bullet design has solved those issues and today I think the 40 offers little advantage over a 9mm. Most people shoot a 9mm better than a 40 or 45. For years I was a 45 guy, 40 offered more capacity with only a slight terminal performance loss. Today I use 9mm almost exclusively. If you can handle full house 10mm loads, it's top of the heap... Great muzzle flash at night! 45 ammo is cheaper...

  16. It’s not a win. I don’t need an FFL transfer to cover my ass on a firearm sale; I’m fully capable of doing that without adding any cost. I’m absolutely sure background checks are not going to keep killers from getting guns. Most of the mass killers we have seen so far either passed a background check to get their guns, or they would have. I’m also pretty sure background checks will become a Federal requirement on private gun sales unless they are ruled unconstitutional. However, this is 2018; there is no reason to require going to and paying an FFL for what amounts to a criminal background check. I expect it to be done online and I expect it to be done for free. It’s already just a feel good move that will do nothing; it doesn’t need to be a money grab also. My local FFL needs to make his money by selling product; not getting a free handout from the government.

  17. They don't care. They want civilian disarmament and don't care what it takes to get it. At least they are finally being honest about it. For YEARS they hid their true agenda. Now that former Justice Stevens has come out for doing away with the 2nd all the kooks are being a little more vocal.... But they need to really think this through.....they run the risk of a political backlash like in 94 or worse a cultural backlash and armed insurgency if they actually try to implement this stuff......

  18. I'm obviously biased but I would much rather live in Knoxville or Chattanooga. I went to Nashville in 2015 for a job interview and was absolutely blown away by how bad traffic is now. I thought I'd somehow teleported to Atlanta. Knoxville is small enough to avoid some of the headaches found in bigger cities but still big enough to never be bored. Downtown continues to get nicer as well. Plus I can drive in just about any direction and find a place to go hiking.

  19. If you have enough ammo or reloading supplies to feed what you have then screw the AR. If it gets really crazy it'll come down to ammo. If it's really that stupid you can shoot your way into an AR.

  20. I just thought of another reason you should buy an AR: Because left-wing authoritarians don't want you to have one. Hope this helps, Whisper

  21. The name came from the company's founder, Athur Savage. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_William_Savage   If we're worried about offending American Indians, first, we shouldn't call them Indians. They aren't from India. Also, why doesn't anyone bitch about the government having "tomahawk" missiles and "apache" helicopters?

  22. Do not depend on it to make a Rattler or Copperhead safe to go near it. Several years ago a couple contractors I was working with in Cheatam County had a Rattler slither by and rested under a small pine. They were afraid to work so I got a 20ga with #6 and shot it in the head at ten yards. The neighbor driving by seen it a six footer on road and asked for it to eat and make a belt. Although dead it managed to strike and sink its fangs into his jeans twice, lucky he held it by the tail and it was upside down striking an did not get skin. I was told the only thing to do is cut off head, but mouth will open and close on you for a few hours.
