  1. I would just politely ask them to finish the job that you paid for and clean the gun.

  2. Looks like Central and Downstate Illinois might be able to fight the big Chicago machine. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/05/07/illinois-counties-form-sanctuaries-for-gun-owners-to-thwart-states-push-for-gun-control.html

  3. Still have to fab a bipod block for a M2 bipod and I think I can fit a HB FAL folding handle for this 17lb target plinker. Its built up around a HK91 FCG and G3 cover with finned SS barrel. M249 SAW butt plate and belt bags.

  5. I would give them reasonable time, but be clear about your expectations. This could have been a screwup in the way it was communicated to the smith.

  8. Anyone ever saw one of these? Neat things and a neat story. 5 shot .45 that is hand cycled. At its widest point, the gun is 0.8125 inches across. Overall length is just 5.3-inches with a respectable 3.75-inch barrel. I am thinking that since it was for deep cover that the hand cycling to eject the brass might be to avoid leaving evidence. Size comparison to a Khar PM45c The story. http://www.amderringer.com/lms.html http://www.guns.com/2013/05/17/the-semmerling-lm-4-pistol-sleek-strange-secretive-sought/

  9. You mentioned that when she was younger she enjoyed shooting guns. Now she is a college graduate and wants nothing to do with guns. You might want spend some sometime talking with her and reminding her of how much she enjoyed shooting when she was younger and see if she will open up as to what has turned her against guns. Once you learn why she has gone from liking something to not liking something and wanting to move to Chicago might be an indication her political issues may have changed also. You might get some insight on how to approach the issue now..............JMHO

  10. I wouldn't even consider taking a gun to Chicago. The laws there are so screwed up, I don't think even they understand them. It would just be asking for trouble. Besides, she doesn't want the gun anyway.

  11. I have never had a gun cleaned by a gun store but I kind of doubt they are going to go to the trouble of breaking down the gas system of an AK and cleaning all that filth out. I would imagine dragging a bore snake through the barrel a couple of times is the service they provide. Unless of course, they promised something different.

  13. You know her personality better than we do, but I generally agree that forcing it on her will just push her further away. Maybe a taser or pepper spray for her key chain?

  14. You stated she does not want anything to do with guns now. Before going any farther you need to ask her how she feels about what you're thinking.

  15. Yep. Ethanol is bad for all engines and especially murder on small engines.

  16. I highly doubt they're gonna ever be any cheaper than they are right now. If nothing else, look at it as an investment and if you decide later on that the AR isn't the platform for you, I'm sure you'll be able to get your money back or turn a small profit.

  18. I have loved glocks for a while now. I also was not a big fan of the original M&P line (that trigger just flat out sucked). That being said, I have a shield 2.0 and like it much better than the G43. S&W has just gotten it right and fixed the things they didn’t get right the first time. I did add Trijicon XR HD sights to it (because these are my favorite sights out there and make it onto all my weapons) but it really needs no further upgrades (if I put an apex trigger kit on it , it’s a want vs a need).

  19. I agree with Steelharp. Both my girlfriend and I tried to like the 43 but we both kept going back to the Shield. Much better shooter. They improved the trigger with the 45 acp version and the 2.0 is sweet. Having said that, I just picked up a P365 and it is amazingly accurate. Put 250 rounds through it Friday and no issues. Birthdate on gun was March 29. Sig puts that on the label. I will keep my Shield for now but the P365 is worth a serious look if you do not have a carry gun. It will replace several in my rotation if it continues to impress.

  20. I was fooling with ARs before ARs were cool. Back when I got my first one, there were hardly any accessories, and what was available either came from Colt or military surplus. Nowadays, the sky is the limit with what you can do with one. I've got one setup for long range shooting, a 16" for just playing around, and one with a "fun switch" that is sporting a 11.5" barrel. I've also got a stripped lower sitting in the safe I'm thinking about turning into a pistol. If you are building one (the best way to get the most bang for your buck), just about all the lowers on the market are the same, besides the brand stamped on it. Spend your money on a upper and optics. I've heard all the horror stories from Vietnam, that was before my time, but I can tell you that I haven't seen any of those problems with the modern AR. If for no other reason, get one because it pisses the liberals off.

  21. It’s not a win. I don’t need an FFL transfer to cover my ass on a firearm sale; I’m fully capable of doing that without adding any cost. I’m absolutely sure background checks are not going to keep killers from getting guns. Most of the mass killers we have seen so far either passed a background check to get their guns, or they would have. I’m also pretty sure background checks will become a Federal requirement on private gun sales unless they are ruled unconstitutional. However, this is 2018; there is no reason to require going to and paying an FFL for what amounts to a criminal background check. I expect it to be done online and I expect it to be done for free. It’s already just a feel good move that will do nothing; it doesn’t need to be a money grab also. My local FFL needs to make his money by selling product; not getting a free handout from the government.

  25. Can't recall the # of times Carson City BATFE called us about a 4473 with the name, weapon and time frame... that WE had to dig through and send a fax of back to them. (Retail FFL holders are required to maintain the copy of the 4473 for twenty years onsite.) Have absolutely no doubt, No Such Agency has NICS checks sitting in storage someplace. They probably think all they are doing is being a Federally funded Iron Mountain Group (a libel, I fear, against a very reputable and steady firm, for which I apologize.)
