  2. The story says it’s almost as good as a .308 Winchester.

  3. Picked up an import T-bolt 144 from Robertson Trading Post while on a visit there with a fellow TGOr. It was in the "has to see the doctor rack." I always wanted a T-bolt 144. I walked out the door shedding 300.00 for the 144. Took it home and tossed the poorly fittted 10 rd mag and it didn't look like those sold by Havlins. I took this: https://www.gunpartscorp.com/products/39430A and made it into a single shot. It has a spot welded globe front sight, Parker Hale brass aperture holder under the grip. S130 rear sight. Several missing items like all hardware for hand stop, no sling, etc. I ran about 20 patches through the barrel. I slapped some poly on the stock and Birchwood Casey bluing on the barrel and receiver. Just to see what it would do I put some high rings on it to clear the rear sight and put on a cheap Tasco Varmint. Using Fiocchi SV LRN it was boringly accurate off a Caldwell front rest and squeeze rear bag at 25 yrds. So I cranked up the magnification and started to shoot 2" saltines at 185 yrds using Federal Automatch. It got so that I could hit about 1 cracker out of 3 shots, so I smiled and bagged the 144 for another day.

  4. You can add more than one person to a trust such as family members and Friends. It should also make it somewhat easier when you pass away for whoever has to deal with your NFA items. This is just my opinion. John Wells is a member of TGO and did my trust. He would be the man to talk to.

  5. If it came from an unlicensed individual, he didn't inform FedEx, and hence also broke federal law. FedEx quit doing unlicensed firearm shipments long ago. UPS changed their policy to same about a year ago or so. - OS

  6. There are no requirements for FFL involvement in INTRAstate transactions (except for restricted firearms like fully auto, etc). The US Postal Service can be used for long gun shipments, by anyone. Using an FFL for any intrastate transfer may provide a comfort level, and possibly a reduction of potential liability, but is not a legal requirement. When you sell a firearm Tennessee law requires you to keep a record, but does not specify the term. That's my understanding. If I'm wrong, I'm sure you'll tell me! Please do! You guys outta try doing this in ILLAnnoy! Actually it's not that bad ---- you can get a background check from the IL State Police for any buyer, for free, usually online within seconds. And there is no record kept of the request, or whether any transaction actually ensued. Supposedly. And Photoguy, yeah. You got it. It just means go get it done, but not in violation of any laws or rules. It's way easier in Tennessee to just get lots of things done.............damn, I hope I'm right about that! Will know in a few weeks and the coming months.

  14. Finally. I've been looking for something that's almost as good as .308 for a long time.

  15. I thought Soccer was being played at the Sounds stadium? We are in the South and couldn’t fill a Superspeedway or have the people that could get a NASCAR Cup race. It sits idle. So no, a new soccer stadium is not a good idea.

  16. Monday my son & I were on our way back home from Asheville and since Bud's gun shop is only a few miles off our route home, we thought who can resist. So we stopped. I had no intension of swiping plastic for anything other than some 22 std vels.....maybe. That philosophy failed miserably since unknown to me Buds bought a bunch of these police Star BM 9mm pistols to dump on the market. The carot came in the shape of a big yellow sale tag on original boxed guns with the $199.99 digits printed largely across the center of the tag. Now I'v seen this sort of bate & sell before in shotgun news and other on line distributors with even better pricing but who knows what condition you end up with and the Star had a good rep but I never held one of these older steel frame BM guns in my hand. I had to fix my ignorance of the matter by getting to hold the sample on one of the 6 boxes in the case. Needless to say, I was quite impressed with the scaled down 1911 9mm! Further thought provoked me into getting all 6 guns out of their boxes and bingo, a near mint unit with about 90 percent hardly worn blueing. I jumped on it as did my son for the second best one. All I can say is wow.... what a deal on a very well made mini 1911 style 9mm. Very happy with its quality of craftsmanship. 36 feet off a wood block rest with wolf ammo I highly recommend these steel Star BM's as great "cant kill it" 9's...... that handle great box after box!

  17. My cousins were unofficial missionaries in Bishkek Kyrgyzstan for 6-8 years about a decade ago. That's even further from Pakistan than where these 2 went. Even in the relative safety of a big city and speaking Russian reasonably fluently, there were occasional issues. There were places they could go, and places they knew to stay away from. They were raising a family and the rise of the Islamic state was one of the reasons they left.

  18. How does Nashville funding a boondoggle and lining the pockets of the developers/owners (who it appears will get at least 10 acres of the fairgrounds for their own use for private development, FREE) of the to be determined soccer team, equate to a Tennessee soccer team? You Nashville people need to handle business and start raising hell.

  19. We don't need a soccer team. We don't need a football team. Nashville started to go downhill when we got the Titans. I'm not against a soccer team, but I'm against tax money being used too get and maintain a soccer team, period. And I'm sure that's exactly what will happen.

  20. Perhaps he's conflating hunting regs. Meaning, for many years there has been nothing you can legally hunt in this state with buckshot. And of course you can't possess a prohibited gun/ammo during the act of hunting whether you're actually using it or not. Splitting hairs as to whether that includes in your vehicle too I guess. - OS

  22. You and I both know they will not only have their dirty little hands in it. They will give away what ever it takes to get them here. They will be up to their knees in it. It was already broadcast this morning that the Former Mayor had been wheeling and dealing under the table on it before she got caught in bed with a guy and was not with her hubby!!!!

  25. I am a huge soccer fan and I'm excited about the new team and stadium. The fairgrounds is a huge parcel of land that is severely under utilized. I think a stadium is a good use for a portion of that land. It will bring a lot development to that area and that area needs it.

  26. I think we need a soccer team (I like soccer, my son plays), but there should be no reason an existing football stadium could not be shared. Most of the middle school games I go to locally do just that.

  27. I just find it difficult to have sympathy for folks like that, when men, women and children are dying over there due to no fault of their own, not to mention our troops that pay the ultimate sacrifice to attempt to bring safety to those regions. Don't get me wrong, I find no joy in their deaths, and do consider their killers the bad actors in this, but just like those idiots that intentionally cross into wild animal enclosures, like the hippo slapper, if they die in the attempt, I'll not shed a tear. Call me cold hearted if you will, but sympathy is hard to come by for those folks.

  28. And the jokes keep going. I wish I could find the "flying" lada that I saw a few years ago. It was golden. The funny thing is, the lada is a DIRECT copy of the fiat 124. Just infinitely cheaper. Which is a feat since the 124 was cheap enough as is. Imagine taking a base model nissan versa. Now, make it cheaper. Thats lada.
