It's heavy, ugly as sin, cheap, and has one awful trigger, but shoots remarkable well! I'm talking about my new Hi-Point 45! I kind of/sort of bought it as a joke and even ordered new grips for it with $100 bills on it from hipoint45.com just to make it that much uglier... but I am really impressed with it. My Mom, Son, and I have a family shooting night at least once a month so I took it out to Royal Range tonight to play with it. 7 Yards produced the following:

Looks like Marlin has finally gotten their act together and started making .357 lever actions again. Was at a gun store today and the conversation turned to Marlin .357’s and the guy said that they have in fact started production again after a long hiatus and are shipping now. He also claimed to “know a guy” that works in R&D at Remlin or some such thing and the guy said “they did it right”. This excites me.

I am very happy with Hi Points. Have a 9mm rifle, 9mm hand gun, and a .40 hand gun.

My son actually took his first deer with my Father-in-laws 9mm Hi-Point carbine. I have always heard they are reliable bricks

I don't believe driving around the guy or backing up would have changed much of the outcome. The truck driver cut them off the first time so best not to give him another chance to do it again or worse. Standing his ground was the best move to make for the Uber driver..............JMHO

Carbine owner and brand fan here. Looks like Cap'n A got some of that cheap import knock off vibranium I've been hearing about. Ugly? Eye of the beholder. I've seen those dollar bill grips, why not have a conversation starter? Heavy? 25oz, 29oz with 8 shots. Blunt striking object? Absolutely. Use snap caps for dry firing

Rarely if ever do I hear of a Hi-Point failing to go bang at the appropriate time. I have one of their 9mm carbines, and its reliable.

Sig has discontinued it, so probably the reason for the close out. Haven't seen or handled a Rami in years, looked around back in June, but decided against it. Closest comparison is my P01 with thin aluminum grips. I have medium sized hands; the thinner CZ (and my 75B) are both more comfortable. The controls on the CZs are traditional and more left handed friendly than the Sig. I get better initial trigger finger pad placement on the Sig vs. either 75. Getting a nice, high grip on both, so equal in that regard. I did test carry in my repurposed N82 Tactical holster, AIWB, the grip height works very well with my body shape, equivalent to my G19/26 and better than the CZs. The reason I opted out on the Rami is the extra coin I know I would have spent sending it to CGW. After picking up the Walther through the trading post, I thought I was done. I think Sig saw no futue offering it; the current customer base already bought, the new customer base has a lot more options for way less money, even if they have full / compact metal Sig's. Lurking over on Sig talk, the P365 and P320 seem to be popular. If I was buying my first Sig at fair market, it probably wouldn't be a P224. If I was looking for a 10-12 round compact/sub compact, the Sig is at the upper end of price competing against a lot of quality handguns. If I had other handguns in .40 / .357 Sig or simply thought the modularity was cool, it would be on my radar. Rumor is BarSto is running a batch of 9mm barrels, estimated MSRP $200, unknown if it would need to be fitted. Hoping to shoot it Sunday.

A can of Krlyon from WalMart is inexpensive and can easily coat several Hi Points. Paint the whole thing.

First Mag ever @ 15 yards And it just kept getting better! 4 shot group, 15 yards, 2" target. It's a far better shooter than I am.

As we, my wife and I, were leaving church last night, a lady friend of ours said she had something to show me. She had one of those cell phones that makes pictures, and she showed me a photo of her son (from a previous marriage) holding a flintlock rifle. The man in the picture was wearing the uniform of a Tennessee State Parks employee, and was holding the rifle while he wore those white cotton gloves. The rifle, she told me, was Davy Crockett's "Old Betsy." Her son is curator/coordinator for East Tennessee State Museums. Apparently the rifle was scheduled for some special event display and he got to handle it long enough to have his photo made with the rifle. Apparently at my church I'm known as a gun buff. My CZP07s have been absolutely great right out of the box.

Congratulations! I bought a CZ75B Omega form another forum member this past weekend, and we've really enjoyed shooting it. It looks to me like CZ has a very solid design in these pistols.
