  1. On that we can agree, Erik. I do not like the Republican party. Today, however, they are preferable to the Democrat party. That's as far as my loyalty goes with them.

  2. What exactly is a true republican? I’m being serious. There is a distinct difference between political parties and what the vast majority of Americans truly believe and want.

  4. Truth. Empire is hard. So is math. The political reality of 2018 is that if you’re going to keep the lights on and the toilets flushing, both parties are really constrained in what they can actually hope to do. And, that’s even further constrained by what they can pass - even when they’ve got their hands on all the levers of power as the GOP recently has. The American path - in this late stage capitalism is largely determined. Either party can deviate maybe a couple of degrees in either direction. But, you’re staying on the path. Rhetoric is easy though - and it works. I’d love to see the average American really figure out that the political class at large - not simply the other party is just feeding them rhetoric to keep them punching down and focused elsewhere while they continue to loot the place.

  5. I'll go a bit further. I'll take a Joe Manchin over a Jeff Flake or John McCain any day. The problem is that there is only one Joe Manchin left. He's a crook, but still a better guy than the rest of the democrats and several republicans.

  7. Fixed that for you. Parties change. Things happen. I would not be surprised if the GOP flips on this issue in my lifetime.

  8. Today I stopped by Walmart in need of 30-06 as I don’t want to break into my stash of HXP M2 ball held in reserve to feed the Garand. They have Federal Power-Shock 150 gr SP for $11.97/box. Cheapest they sell so that’s what I wanted. Looked it up later to see what I bought and it appears Federal is running a $5 per box rebate. Score. It might take three months to get that $10 back but when it’s all said and done that’s a mighty fine price for ammo. I’m cheap like that.

  9. I'm new here so be gentle. I'm an amputee with interests in tools and techniques that benefit one armed handgunners. I also manufacture a tool specifically for loading magazines with one hand. Recently got my P320c Rx and went to the small grip. I am spoiled.

  12. R.I.P. ROY Amazing talent way before Hee-Haw Another celebrity so popular from my youth dies that a large section of the population had no clue who he was. I remember when Don Rickles died I went through 5 or 6 not exactly young people before I got a person who didn't say "who?" Same will happen with RC I'm guessing but ONE DAY it will happen with the Kardashians, and Beyonce and Taylor and all the other celebs that annoy me nowadays..... Time marches on.

  14. All bitch'n aside it could have been much worse than a ban on bumpstocks. Many here seem to forget that little fact - particularly with the Dems on a full onslaught. If ya can't then go hire a lawyer to take it all the way to the SC.

  15. Manufacturers don’t really divulge that kind of information nor would it make any difference. My understanding is they use stuff and blends of stuff not generally available off the shelf. The Power-Shok does appear to be very clean and accurate though. I blew 40 rounds through a 100 year old M1917 last weekend and holes were touching each other at 100 yards. Just ran a patch through the barrel with not a whole lot of residue.

  16. I wouldn't depend on the Donald to be much of a protector of the 2A. At least not if he can get the result he wants by tossing us slightly under the bus.

  17. Wouldn’t what he said be more important than who reported it? I guess that little piece of information wasn’t important to the reporter. Wouldn’t a Judge signing a protective order decide if it warranted taking his guns? Did he do something that placed those in the home in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm? That’s a reporter tweeting. I don’t see where she added anything we didn’t already know.

  19. The bottom line is that our President, supposedly the savior of the 2nd Amendment, encouraged and pushed for this to happen. He went on record multiple times saying it. Had Obama done the same thing we would have had multiple threads and 100 angry responses. The gun community would be livid right now.

  23. It's relatively easy, just need some hex and/or star bits, maybe a screw driver to pry the magnet off (carefully, they're brittle) the metal piece. Since it's not to be put back together, a large hammer might work too

  24. Those who are public figures face a higher level of pressure than do most of us when they advocate a pro gun position. I applaud those who do it anyway, and understand those who do not step up publicly. I have been involved in these issues since the 1970s at both the national level and the state level in Illinois. In the early 1980s I put together a special fund for use in Illinois to advance pro gun positions at a time when individual cities were outlawing gun ownership altogether. The unique feature was that we found a way legally to protect the identities of those contributing. Few of them belonged to either state or national pro gun groups. Why? Because they were gun owning and gun loving business owners who didn't want their careers ruined or their businesses ruined by liberal anti gun groups. When we showed them how to contribute without being identified, they flocked to contribute money. One guy owned a hotel and restaurant chain, another a chain of men's clothing stores, another a furniture chain, and yet another several radio stations. The list went on and on. Working with the ILA, those funds were put to very good use and it wasn't long until the state passed a preemption law prohibiting municipalities and counties from passing their own gun ownership laws. While it didn't go far enough, it did accomplish quite a bit given the times. I was in a position to do this because my income did not depend on the public at large, and because much of my income derived from businesses I was not publicly connected with. If the circumstances has been different, I also would have been circumspect. Tom Selleck gets a thumbs up from me for what he has had to endure.

  25. I don't know, I would think due process would be to allow someone to defend themselves of what ever charge was leveled against him before actually acting against him. A warrant does not give the police the right to confiscate anything not related to a crime of some sort, and it usually written specific to the crime being investigated . The law needs some serious review as far as I am concerned.

  27. It’s a dime a box. Doesn’t matter if it’s a 20 rd box or a case. It’s a dime that goes to the TWRA. It’s one of the least objectionable taxes in my book. If you stick around you’ll learn how big of a statement that is coming from me.

  28. Wow, that’s terrible. No details, so I’m just guessing here, but if he didn’t know for sure if the guy he was holding was armed or not; he couldn’t secure his weapon when cops arrived. It will come down to what the interaction was between the Officer and the victim. Guessing, based on the limited information given, and the fact the cop is in Cook County; I suspect there is a high probability the Officer will be charged. With attorneys suing businesses for not being able to stop an active shooter; more and more businesses will be hiring armed security. Making them not obvious to patrons or shooters, but identifiable to responding officers in an active shooter situation is going to require some planning/training or technology.

  29. My wife said it best the other day, when she and I were discussing this: The Left has abandoned anything near-centrist. They have stopped trying to hide the evil methods bu which they have been trying to sneak evil agendas into fruition over the past six-decades (give or take) and are now just putting it all out in the open. They can finally do that because society's morals and ethics are no longer moral or ethical and are now based entirely on self-gain, self-promotion, and all other manner of self-centric ideals and objectives. The greater good is no longer esteemed.

  31. Failed to mention that I always wanted to live in Tennessee. I have driven through it several times, once in Autumn. Gorgeous! I am a huge fan of Lonesome Dove. I reckon the romance and the entire series helped me to want to live there. However, at my age my moving days are over. At least I went to the Jack Daniels Distillery. I still have the bottle. That was right before 9/11.
