  1. I forgot to add that before I started cutting my own wood from the forest to cook with , I would go to a local saw mill and buy a bundle of oak slabs . A whole bundle is around $20 -$30 . They are heavy and so it took me 2 trips to carry them home in my utility trailer. When I'd get them home I'd use my chain saw to cut them into firewood size. I cooked from that bundle of slabs for several batches of BBQ . Here's what the slabs looked like after I cut them.

  4. While I don't feel inclined to buy a new pistol, I wouldn't even think about it above $500. On the secondary market, I'm out for deals, so the price has to entice me. Plus, while I'm not out to screw someone, I never feel obligated to pay for the value a person adds onto the gun with after market parts when it comes resale time. Then the add-ons are subjective in value based on the potential buyer; steel sights vs. night sights, for example. A lot of individual gun sellers need to learn re-sale is almost always going to involve a loss of capital you sunk into the gun. Trying for breakeven isn't conductive to a sale.

  5. If no one knows of anyone selling any , , I'd get in your truck or car and go riding down some highways or back roads. I always see someone selling oak and or hickory in their front yard for cooking and/or firewood. I built my own BBQ pit and I use regular oak wood that I cut myself and oak tastes just as good if not the same as hickory. Here's my old fashioned style pit I made myself and my wood burn-barrel in the background. Best thing I ever made. I can cook about 20 shoulders at a time for around 12-15 hrs and it's worth every hour of it. Shoveling wood coals from my burn-barrel to the pit every hour to keep it at 220 degrees. Low and slow.

  6. Went back today with some better ammo. Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle 100 yards iron sights hornady custom 168 Im ridiculously happy with that. I’m gonna get out there a couple more times with this ammo and see if I can repeat it and get the sights adjusted better They’re obviously a little high right now.

  8. No, but I wish they would make units that could send/connect directly to a cell phone instead of having a seperate plan. My Samsungs can send data via wifi direct, skipping the towers, and some security cameras don't need cell service, just wifi, so a hotspot can work.

  9. I have a nephew that works the crab and cod boats up there. He with his wife and daughter are in Anchorage house hunting. Everyone is OK just rattled a bit. I got the info from my sister about where He was. Pray for good news in the next few days.

  10. Very interesting indeed. Politicians and the media try to paint the U.S. as the most violent country in the world and all because we have so many guns. Truth is that we aren't even in the running. Here a mass shooting sparks 24/7 news coverage for who knows how long. However, It seems that in most other countries that a shooting will be reported on the evening news and then be more or less dropped. Public perception is everything. The truth doesn't matter.

  13. The theory is that when you lower taxes, it makes the economy better and the government takes in more taxes. This can work if you do it right. I agree though, both parties spend way too much. As far as Trump and the bump stocks, I don't like it, but he will still probably get my vote in 2020. What else you going to do, vote for a Bernie or Liz Warren, or are you planning on throwing your vote away to a third party? Sometimes you just have to play the hand you've got. You've also got to look at the big picture. Ruth Bader Ginsburg has one foot in the grave, and rumor is another justice may retire. Long term 2nd amendment success depends on a conservative supreme court, because sooner or later the Dems are likely to get back ahold of 2 branches, and it will be scorched earth toward the 2nd amendment.
