  1. I remember when they played music on MTV. It was pretty awesome.

  5. I love the line: ‘I want to look like a special ops guy.’ It's not a terrible article, but you get a definite left lean. I noticed no gun mfg or banks suporting them responded to their inquiries, had to get their quotes from unsuspecting gun shops and antis.

  7. I finally took my 1911 to a gunsmith. Whoever messed with it before I bought it had filed on the sear and the hammer. Replaced both of those and added a Wilson Combat beavertail. It now functions like it should and has a fantastic trigger.

  8. LOL. But she was only in her very early 20's back then. Correct me if I'm wrong, but was one of the original 5-6 VJ's when MTV kicked off. There were occasional music videos back in the late 70's (I remember Kate Bush on BBC-1), but they were rare. MTV was definitely innovative... alas that has sadly changed.

  9. Awesome ! I hear the same . My 1911 is a S.A. Mil Spec made in 2003 . Had around a 1,000 through it but now I'm gonna run it hard. Never had a malfunction. Paid $400 new in box near the end of 2003. I wished I had got a few Norico 1911's then . They were around $275 used if I remember correctly .

  10. Yes I should add that I also use Chip McCormick Power Mags as well and have no issues with those either. I dont own any cheap mags to say that they are the reason my MC Operator runs so good. I imagine if your gun has an issue then mags won't fix it but quality mags are a good place to start when trouble shooting a gun's problem. They are relatively cheap vs gunsmithing and who couldn't use more good mags anyway. I also had a buddy that had a Kimber SIS and was having issues. I ran my mags in it and had zero problems. So in his case it did fix it.

  11. As far as CM vs WC, I have no solid preference. I use both. I got started on WC when I had a Kimber Pro Carry back about 2008. It was prone to fte issues, so I took it to the man/shop I bought it from to ask about it. Rabbi looked it over and told me to try some different mags, as Kimber mags were sort of a hit or miss type and problematic. He handed me a couple of used Wilson Combat mags and told me to try them out. I did. Problem solved. I've been buying Wilson mags ever since. I also have some Chip McCormick and his other product, Shooting Star mags. All have been completely reliable.

  12. I had something similar with a 1911 A1. I replaced the guts and still had trouble. I took it up to the gunsmith at Greenbriar to look at it. Turns out it was simply the over-travel screw on the trigger that was the culprit.

  14. If you check out the 1911 forums you will see that CHIP MCCORMICK POWER MAGS and WILSON COMBAT are the two most popular. You will also see that some people say their gun doesn’t “like” one of those, some the other. I’ve never had a problem with a Chip McCormick, or a factory mag. I’ve never tried cheap aftermarket mags. I think mags get a lot of the blame for junk ammo and guns that need attention. But that’s just my opinion based on what I’ve seen. You tell someone they need the feed ramp polished on their precious 1911 or it is failing because it’s filthy and they act like you called their kids ugly. Neither mag will fix a “bad” 1911. What’s wrong with your gun?

  15. I used them in my MC Operator and my LW Champion Operator and never had a hiccup in either gun. I don't have the LW anymore but have several thousand rounds through my MC Operator and it's been as reliable as my Glocks (gasp). Ultimately I'm a Glock guy though due to my work requirements but would not hesitate to carry the Operator with 47d mags.

  18. Me too. Running out of ammo or components is the least of my worries, even if the libs manage to outright ban ammo.

  20. Sometimes price isn't everything. I have a shop I deal with that is more than reasonable but not always the least expensive. Just saying......

  21. Try this... when dropping the slide on an EMPTY chamber WITHOUT a magazine in the gun. NO ammo around etc...... Pin the trigger back then release the slide with the slide stop. This keeps the disconnector down as the slide slams home, and eliminates the bounce of the trigger & disconnector. If the hammer falls there are issues hammer/sear engagement. If the hammer stays back release the trigger and listen. There should be a click as the disconnector moves up. If you have a trigger scale measure the pull after this test. Compare the pull to when the hammer is thumb clocked on an EMPTY chamber. If there is a difference in pull weight then the hammer/sear geometry is wrong. I learned this from an old bullseye shooter with a box full of Jim Clark guns. Dropping tge slide on an empty chamber it much tougher on a gun than when its dropped on an empty chamber.

  22. Does the hammer fall all the way, or just to the half-cock notch? No matter which, if the hammer falls when you push the slide latch, this gun is wrong, and is either heavily worn or else has been customized by some gunjones who didn't know what he was doing. You'll likely need a new hammer. Cheers, Whisper
