  1. If properly secured (bag, case, etc), guns are essentially immune to mileage. It doesn't matter if you let it sit in your vehicle for one mile or one million miles, it's basically going to be ok. Round count is what matters to guns.

  2. Buy some extra recoil springs and go for it. The fastest wearing part on it is going to be that spring. Replace it every 1-2k rnds and shoot all you can stand. Report back on your milage as it progresses.

  3. Hi all, I wanted to share a recent experience with this organization, which started 3/2017. My 75B Omega needed to be fixed, I decided on CGW based on reviews and was curious to compare the finished product to my CZC SDP. Side note: prefer the Omega trigger, the SDP is standard so I can't give an unbiased comparison. The triggers and frames are just different enough that it is mood vs. preference in selection. CGW manages imbound work to ensure promised turn and delivery times. I was notified about 6 weeks after initial contact, "if you are still interested, we are ready and will deliver in 6 - 8 weeks (for my project) Received it back 6/2017; they installed their Omega kit. GtG was happy. Recently ran it through a Randy class, still happy EXCEPT, one occurrence of: DA trigger pull, hammer cocks and drops to half cock, release trigger to reset, hammer falls to rest. Tap and rack, last I thought of it. Popped off a few hundred more rounds of dry and live fire, above malfunction repeated more than 5, less than 10 times In dry fire, I tried to make it fail, increasing / decreasing speed of and number of trigger pull strings (did fail) Shoot an email off to CGW. Response within 24 hours, we think we know what the problem is (DA Roller) here is a FedEx label, send it in. Excellent customer service. My expectations; 6-8 weeks, place me in order with your work flow and I don't expect to bump someone who waited patiently like I did. Wait time was maybe 10 days, receive a call from Scott. Ready to go and will have it 6/28. Exceeded expectations as David and team are prepared for after the sale service work. It was the DA roller, just one of those things. Fitted a better sized and machined part. Fitted in that Scott took an extended period of time troubleshooting to find the optimal size roller by dry firing to ensure his gunsmithing was spot on. Very apologetic it had to go back, but who cares, since he told me the DA is now "pretty darn good." Shows the level of professionalism, trouble shoot, don't just replace parts. Another GtG win in this scenario. CGW met service expectations on the original project, exceeded expectations on the service work and quality is top notch. I asked Scott what else could be done to the pistol. Figured since they had it, I was willing to let them make some money off me. Other than a barrel bushing for 25+ yard accuracy, sights, grips, and refinishing, it's done. Will update after I use it up this weekend

  7. I'm with @Omega. Picked up this bag for $20 or something. Had two tackle trays in it. Took one out and replaced it with Hoppes and a bottle of lubrication. The other tray has swabs, picks, smaller screw drivers and whatever else I need for handguns. Shoved a couple rags on the top to keep things quiet. That's a nice box too @ShaggyRS6. If and when I move, plans for a golf and gun room are already on the must have list.

  9. Glock 17, 19 and 26. All my reload mags are for the 17 since it they'll run in any of the guns. Looks a little weird on the 26, but I didn't buy a Glock for the looks.

  11. At the risk of a minor drift, I subscribe to Claude Werner's "Tactical Professor" blog. A recent post mentioned that Ruger's LCP is one of the most prolific handguns currently being made. Quote: from "Revolvers are Passe" " Production of the LCP as of Year End 2017 has been 2,272,204 pistols, making it one of the most popular pistols in America." It's an interesting post and surprised me quite a bit. Worth a quick minute to read imho. https://tacticalprofessor.wordpress.com/2019/02/12/revolvers-are-passe/ I think I need to get one and pull out my dies and start handloading a few .380 rounds.

  12. The Hi-Power is my all time favorite 9mm. Considering that I just bought my 3rd version of one, I think I'm good for the time being. I have no experience at all with the TISAS products. I've heard both good and bad about them. My guess is that the mixed reviews are the result of inconsistent quality control. Simply put, some are good and some aren't so good. Might just be the luck of the draw for all I know. However, if these pistols prove to be good, I'm sure they will sell and be used quite a bit. Maybe one of y'all should buy one and let us know. OTOH: the Hi-Power is a much loved and proven design. Clones by FEG and FM are known to be good. A quick check of GB turned up 18 pages of Hi-Powers and its clones for sale. Browning and FN may have quit making them, but there's no shortage of them out there.

  13. For that, I’d wait until I was going over to Knoxville and take it to @LawEnforcementSalesTN. It’s a job that any competent smith should be able to do, but it’s one that’s easy to screw up, too. Nothing like a baffle strike because some fool threaded it off center.

  14. I’m actually more of fan of the High Power than the CZ. Ergonomically, I think the HP fits the average hand better than the CZ. I have to reposition my hand to utilize the safety and the mag release on the CZ. I never had that problem with the HP that I owed until it was stolen. At the time, it was my favorite pistol. Wish I could afford another one. I do agree with Magiccarpetrides that there are better choices now. Several years ago I sold off my SA 1911 and went to a .45 M&P compact, which I hated. I traded it soon afterwards for a XDs .45. I really like it and would chose it over a 1911 any day. And I would pick my FNH FNS9 or Glock 17 over the Hi Power. But I would still like to have that Hi Power back. And to be honest, I wouldn’t made another 1911. I doubt I’d ever carry either again though.

  15. If you wear one out, they aren't very expensive to replace. I find it to be a non issue.

  16. I actually have a XDs in .45acp that I really like. Thought about getting a service model of it, but of course there is not trading out mags between the two.

  17. Looks like you have 5.56 pretty well covered, so I would go with the AR-9, they are a blast to shoot. I got the entire upper from PSA, similar to this one, under 3 when it was on sale. https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-pa-9-gen4-10-5-9mm-1-10-nitride-12-slanted-m-lok-railed-upper-with-bcg-ch-5165450304.html

  18. I use the fishing lure boxes, they come in a variety of sizes and prices. I purchased a fishing bag which comes with these, I keep all of them in there until I need to use them, one for my black powder weapons, another for standard rifles and guns. https://www.academy.com/shop/browse/outdoors/fishing/tackle-storage/tackle-binders--utility-boxes

  19. Love those old 1911A1, with the brown holster makes it even better. This is what I call a real pistol, don't care for the "plastic" gun of today. Ignorance of youth before GCA of 68 these things were everywhere, could order them from all the outdoor magazines and have them delivered to your door. Wish I would have collected a truck load of them back then. Hind sight is always better than foresight.

  20. Picked this one up today, Beretta 92G Tennessee limited edition. Had no idea they were made until a fellow board member posted a pic, and then helped me find one after my searches came up empty!!

  23. If you really want soft shooting then go all metal, especially all steel. The weight absorbs the recoil. Something like a 1911 in steel chambered in 9mm.

  24. The CZ P-09 or the CZ 75 SP-01 Phantom are soft shooters also.

  25. Either way , bullets are going to be going into the bad guy or his general direction. Some dope heads can take a lot of wounds and keep trucking but some people may just stop what they are doing when they see , hear or feel the gun shots. If the 380 neutralizes the threat then all the much better , and that's why I said its a "get off me gun" . Of course the .45acp will make them bleed much faster and such but when its 100 degrees outside and I'm wearing shorts , the LCP 380 is gonna be just fine without much bulk and not pull my shorts down nor do I need a thick gunbelt.
