  2. I live outside the city limits of Columbia. The rules are: My land = my rules. I shoot when ever I want and nothing much can be said about it. I however am not an A-hole. I try to be curious to my neighbors. This essentially means suppressors for as many guns as possible.

  3. At one time I considered buying a case of Mosins. Kinda wish I did now. BTW, there really is no such thing as a surplus AR. Same goes for new manufacture Russian steel-cased ammo...not surplus.

  4. Most shipping is for delivery to door. Some people have worked out on the spot cash for the driver to place it. If it has an option for "White glove" delivery that means they will bring it in under normal circumstances.

  5. Prybar, I went thru the same thing a yr. ago. I'm right handed/ right shoulder surgery. I was out in the yard one day, decided to experiment. Got my BB pistol & a tin can, tossed it in the yd., shot with the left hand. Surprised, but did well. Eventually, tried my Walther PPS 9mm. same results. Did about as well with either. Bought a L. hand holster for it & carried it, til I got my other hand back. It does take about 12 mos. to get back to normal. It's a slow process, don't try to rush it & cause damage. BTW, I did figure out a way to use my zero turn with the sling on. Made an extension for the R. hand bar, kept on trucking. Good luck, I feel your pain.

  6. I have absolutely no idea on the shoulder surgery, but I'd maybe consider a small frame, small caliber revolver for weak side carry. No slide to worry about, no tap-&-rack, just point and pull. You'd be amazed how quickly you can learn to shoot left handed with a pistol. Your subconscious takes over and aligns the sight to your dominant eye instantly. The tougher part is learning to manipulate the gun from the holster with your weird hand, but that comes with practice. I'm far from being an expert on, well, anything, but I reckon that something like one of the hammerless Smiths or a Ruger LCR in .38spl in a VERY simple, slip holster should see you right.

  7. Ok here is what they found. She had an artery almost totally blocked and the doctors did an angioplasty balloon repair to re open the artery and start the blood flowing back to her heart muscle. They will do a follow up in 2 weeks with another arteriagram and if it shows signs of any changes they will stint that artery at that time. I found out doctors have two options when they do this procedure and as best we can tell the doctors did not stint it this time when they could have performed both the angioplasty and stint at same time. I was dissappointed to hear that, but they are the doctors making the decisions. She is at home now with Tommy staying with her. Weak but out of pain. Prayers are still appreciated

  8. My wife is off to a 4 day quilting retreat so I get to watch all the movies she doesn't like. I had all 3 Expendables movies on the DVR so did a marathon, watching all 3. I saw them all before but not for awhile and not in one continuous showing. Lots of action, don't worry about reality movies. Only saw them reload a couple of times in 5+ hours of near non stop action. They didn't run out of ammo much more often. Good clean fun . Expendables 4 is expected this year. Was on the laptop while watching so I brought up the firearms movie database http://www.imfdb.org to look a few guns up that were particularly interesting. There were pages and pages of different weapons used in those movies. The two that I wanted to read more on was the Auto Assault-12 (AA-12) and the M134 Minigun. The AA-12 I wasn't familiar with, interesting gun and made just down the road from me in Piney Flats. Says it was built to only need cleaning every 10,000 rounds, which at 300 rounds/minute is not a long time I guess. The M134, once I looked it up, I had read about before. They were more realistic on how long a load last in the M134, 10 seconds at 3000 rounds/minute. Two more nights of violent TV then the wife gets home.

  9. I have had a few stumble in. I wish I had not been so young, broke, and busy when they were cheap. Same for AKs, Enfields, and Mausers. Though one could say that the AR is sorta filling the cheap surplus role currently.

  10. Yeah, no telling. I remember when you could get them for less than 100 bucks a piece. I love'em because they're built like a tank. Russian tank!

  11. The reasonable online sources like AIM start at $360 for a hex. I couln’t image what a place like Cabela’s wants.

  12. They've went way up in price over the years. How much are they asking for Hex recievers now?

  13. Welcome! As I've found here in the Cookeville area it's ok outside City limits and you sound like you're looking for all the right features in a property but..... TN is growing fast by leaps and bounds, with subdivisions popping up all over. 10 acres you buy today might be fine untill the neighbor sells out and houses start going up in a couple of years! I'd buy as much land and as Far out as I could tolorate if it was me. I'm kinda new here to TN myself and this is a subject I'm interested in so I'll be watching to see what the locale Knoxville folks say. Good luck with the move.

  15. My vote: Send it in. Don't trust a local gunsmith to fix a problem with an extraction system that even the manufacturer couldn't get to work properly. Cheers, Whisper

  17. There is no problem carrying a gun like a Glock 19 in dress clothes. It's especially easy for a guy your size. Get some good advice on holster selection and on where you carry the gun. Try out different holsters (maybe you have Glock-carrying friends that will let you try out theirs). If you're in a church where people do a lot of hugging, be aware that this could affect where you place your holster. Now, if you are just wanting an excuse to buy a subcompact, that's a different story. Walther PPS, S&W M&P Shield, Sig P365 all are fine choices. Cheers, Whisper

  18. Yeah, that basically means the product is worth x and the military can buy quantity y. X is fixed at a certain price not dependent on y.

  20. I will do some stuff, but there will be different methods used to arrive at the end results, everything would be all hand done for sure! Hand sewn, hand formed, for the end results and now I have no blue guns to work with! Other than that thanks for the welcome back!

  22. They don’t care the first thing in the world about helping law enforcement, really. They’re not paying customers. Selling access to that data to big pharma on there other hand is quite profitable.

  23. I haven't had shoulder surgery but have spoken with several people who have, as I also have had shoulder issues. Their answers are 6 months to 75% (which means mostly normal just being careful about some things) and 12 months to 100%. Unfortunately, it's a really slow recovery. None regretted it and all said it was better once healed, but it's a long road.

  26. You can never go wrong with a rescue. My road puppy Kai, is the best guard dog I have ever seen in my life and we have no idea what she is other than a mutt. We found her on the dirt one lane road heading to the dump one day. We also have an 11 month old Rottweiler that I got Monkey for his birthday. 110 lbs and still growing. The loudest farter/snorer but a massive beast no one would want to be on the wrong end of. Little do they know he sleeps on his back and loves belly rubs. Dante is adorable, but if you are in the market again, check out aarf-tn.com, it is the rescue group I work with and foster for. They have amazing dogs of all breeds.

  27. If this passes, it will cause lose of reciprocity with other states, due to the decreased training requirement. And I'm against it because of this. If the legislature wants to do something, pass constitutional carry.

  30. It is certainly an extremely beautiful knife but I hope if I ever have that amount of gun/knife money available that I don't see a knife like that available. It would reside in the evidence room after my wife used it on me.

  31. Cautionary note...If you ever find yourself removing the steering wheel from a 1948 Plymouth. I had already removed all the interior and I was seated on a 5 gallon bucket removing the steering wheel. I managed to finally get the main nut off and could not get the dang steering wheel to budge. After about an hour of fighting with and staring at it I smacked the steering wheel with my hand out of frustration. I woke up about 30 minutes later flat on my back with my face covered in blood and a pounding headache. It seems that under that nut is a flat steel coil spring about 3 inch diameter under a a lot of tension. After 50 years it had frozen in place...until I smacked the steering wheel. Lesson learned. The wheel lug nuts turn clockwise for removal...but that's another story.
