  1. Haven’t posted in awhile, but thought I’d post some interesting purchases over the past few months. I fell deep down the Scotch, bourbon and rum rabbit hole a few years ago, and spend more time with that hobby lately than I do with guns.

  3. Man, that 4R 130 and Glendronach 18 have me drooling. Did you find the 4R at retail?

  4. They get some cut or other, but it comes from the company they sign you with, not from your end per se. Same way as a dedicated agent for just one company would. Like Dave, I had State Farm for like 55 years or something, for cars, homes, apartment. But got into a hopeless flap with them over a secondary policy about 4 years ago, over a separate policy on guns as a matter of fact, pissed me off so bad I walked out and went over to a biggie independent agency here in Knoxville, called TIS (started many years ago as Tennessee Insurance Co, now just the initials are the name). Gal suggested best deal was SAFECO, because they are gun friendly, meaning your firearms are part of the overall coverage on your homeowners or rental policy, so don't need a separate valuable items policy. I got significantly more auto coverage for less price, and renter's was bout same, but actually a much better deal what with the guns being covered as part of it. You'd almost certainly get a lot more for your money if you do both autos and home policies. They cover folks in 47 of the 50 states, can likely take you on from just with phone/email, call em if interested: http://www.tisins.com/ - OS

  5. For packaged ammo for the 327, cheap, is not the operative word. I find 32 S&W longs at Academy. For the most part I load my own ammo. Also finding 327 magnum rounds locally is very challenging. I have found 32 H&R magnum locally, Hornady and Black Hills, but that is scarce as well. I really enjoy this gun, as does my daughter. I'm glad that I was already set up for rolling my own, it just cost me another set of dies and some new brass. It's an easy gun to carry and I don't feel under powered. It's also nice having 6 powerful rounds in a small package. Oh, and yes, happy belated birthday.

  9. Independent agents are not affiliated with any particular carrier, they act as agents between you and the insurers. There are websites to help in locating agents, here is one: https://www.daveramsey.com/elp/independent-insurance

  12. Some times it is the only way to get hard to find ammo. Had to buy some 7.62 x 38r Nagant ammo on line because no one local carried it. Then went on you tube and found out can make the brass from 223 rem., with a few modifications.

  14. I should have mentioned PSA as well. They have very frequent specials ("Daily Deals" I think they're called) with free shipping.

  15. My suggestion would be to shop around every couple years regardless of who you have now. One of the biggest mistakes I made years ago was assuming I was with the best because I never had an issue and the rate appeared to be reasonable. How can you sit and say you have the best out there if you blindly pay year to year without seeing what else is out there ? That extends on many things beyond insurance as well.

  16. Depending on the type of handgun I might have had to reallocate it to my collection, as the current owner certainly can't handle it. That being said, you cant just pick any gun up at a bar nowadays and put it in the safe without worry where its been, who its been with, and what it might pass on to your other guns.
