  1. Personally, I don't see much sport in having a pack of dogs run down, and tree, an animal so that you can casually walk up to the tree and shoot it.

  2. Have any if you been on one of the group dog hunts in Cherokee? My group drew the first weekend in October to hunt Upper Tellico. I've never set foot in Cherokee before & I'm trying to figure out my gun options. I'm led to believe it's pretty close range hunting, so I'm torn between my .358 win or my super light & handy 336/.44 The 358 is scoped & great out to 300yds, the 44 is strictly a short range proposition (310gn cast boolets...). I'm not even sure I'd risk anything much over 75yds with the thing, but at 50, I can dump all 6 in one hole. What say y'all?

  3. I have 145 unprimed and 70 primed .308 Winchester cases and 150 Hornady Match 168 Gr BTHP free to a good home. Since I live in the sticks of Lascassas I will meet in the surrounding area if you don't want to come to the house.

  4. You don't strike me as the kind of fella that would want to be associated with that crowd. I hope your party is like minded and y'all have a fun and successful hunt. If you are hunting the area that I believe you are you will be East of Tellico Plains along the Cherohala Skyway. Beautiful area, if you get off the pavement and use the forest service roads you won't have any issues. When I used to do a lot of dual sport dirt biking in that area I never had any issues with the hunters that I crossed paths with back there (of course I was polite, and didn't go flying past them). Ironically the hunters out in the woods were easy to get along with and pleasant to speak with. It was the ones with a dog on the hood running down a heavily traveled paved road that would get mad because a motorcycle was too loud and would spook their dog.

  5. The stupid safety on the heritage is the MAJOR downside.

  6. If they are valued employees, have you considered helping them get their permit/licenses? Would not this be a benefit to both parties and your business?

  7. A buddy of mine has actually wing-shot a pig with one of those, from a moving airboat. At night. With a spotlight. That's about the most redneck thing I can think of!

  8. Silicone grease works well. Tube only costs a few dollars. Mine was a bit tough to open also. Pulled the back of the door off and a couple of parts were not lined up very well. Wrench and grease fixed my issues.

  9. Sounds like an amazing trip. I am headed to the range with my 358 this weekend. Good luck

  10. If one is out in a public area, a HCP is required. If on private property, then home rules for the most part. One can have a handgun in their car, on or off person, no different than in your home. I would prefer that they carry a quality pepper spray such as Sabre Red. Cheap and effective and works at reasonable distance.

  11. I don't share your certainty. It appears to me that someone has conveyed the fact to Trump that he's toast in the upcoming election if he pizzez off the gun crowd. I think he's smart enough to listen. Now after the election, I'd say all bets are off.

  12. If the left really wanted universal NICS checks they would push for Trump or any other PotUS to make NICS available to the public for free or for a small nominal fee. Make it free and have it generate a confirmation that the check was done and everyone would use it. When they push for laws to force people to go through FFLs only it becomes apparent that the goal isn’t universal checks but is instead just ratcheting up the degree of difficulty for gun transfers in the hopes of curbing ownership numbers. If I had access to NICS I would use it for every sale simply for my own piece of mind. How many of y’all would do the same without being forced to by law? I’d venture that the vast majority of y’all would.

  14. Whenever I am dialing in a dot optic on a handgun I print out a stack of Lucky Gunner's 5x5 drill targets and take them with me to the range. They are pretty much perfect for getting a gun's POI and optic's POA printing together without much hassle. This is the first serious 15-rounds from the 509 MRD after getting it dialed-in, grouped around the 1-inch aiming point of a 5-inch target, slowly and deliberately at 7 yards.

  15. My WASR 10 always did me right. Fun plinker and never any failures. Only thing I did to it is re-stain the wood. Not a fan of blonde wood so refinished it red chestnut.

  17. This might be one of the best pieces of gun misinformation that I have ever heard. Where do people come up with this stuff?

  18. I lived in that area for a while. What Peejman said. You won't be taking any long shots. The norm around there for bear hunters is to drink heavily, trespass, assault landowners when confronted about trespassing, hunt from the road, and block the road for long periods of time. As such, a lot of people who generally don't mind hunting, are fence sitters, or even people that hunt, but don't bear hunt, don't care for bear hunters. It's a very strange dynamic and people either seem to be very pro bear hunting, or very anti bear hunting. Just some observations that I thought I would pass along

  20. They were several Berettas, Walthers, and a couple Belgian made guns. Honestly I dont recall them all. They did leave a couple older rusted things behind. So I guess there is that Sadly he did have a will, Leaving all his possessions to me including some bullion (stolen as well). But this is the kind of thing you find that folks are unscrupulous and greedy. They stripped the house and garage of all valuables. They spent the couple days after his death destroying or removing the paper trail of receipts, bank records, photographs, and erasing memory cards left behind after removing the electronic devices. They knew we could not prove what was there at the time of his passing, or that they were the ones who removed them. Clearly planned, which gives insight into the kind of people we are talking about. Obviously a lot more details behind this, but suffice it to say its a big ugly mess, The big learning was that is it NOT a criminal offense to steal from an estate if you can claim you are related. Weak family linkage means you can steal what you want if a homeowner dies. In these cases you are left to the character of the people involved, and the legal system does not protect you from "family" if hey are devoid of character.
