  1. Well I called them back this morning asking to speak to the supervisor I spoke to yesterday and she said she didn't know who I spoke to. So she asked for the Transaction # on the papers I received. I gave them and she looked it up and said oh he granted your appeal yesterday after reviewing your claim again. Just glad to be able to take the thing home after a week. But I emailed the FBI and they're sending me the VAF form and Fingerprint card through the mail so I can get a UPIN. It might not work on future firearm purchases but it can't hurt either. Thanks again for all the info and responses, I much appreciated it.

  2. A tough, durable skinner with black canvas micarta handles, red G10 liners and mechanical fasteners as well as epoxy holding the handles on. A karambit with black oxide finish, black G10 handles and subdued SS pins to keep with the look. Another damascus knife featuring custom handles from Voodoo Resins...

  3. Figured I'd post the results of the .450 Bushmaster that CVA has in the Scout. I bought one mostly for hog hunting and I'm glad I did, this thing is accurate. The ammo I'm using is the Hornady Custom 250gr FTX. Here's he results

  4. Actual rehabilitation IS prevention.

  5. It looks like they developed some suspects. https://www.fox13memphis.com/news/arrest-made-in-death-of-botham-jean-witness-joshua-brown-police-say/995149373?utm_source=trending&utm_medium=widget&utm_campaign=chartbeat_trending&utm_content=news

  6. The youth intervention programs you're talking about work with kids (who haven't been convicted of a crime) and seek to convince them to lead lives without committing (any more?) crimes. That's a very worthy goal. The rehabilitation programs I'm taking about work with people of all ages to convince them to lead lives without committing crimes. I think that's also a worthy goal. Both are very difficult and, in my opinion, equally beneficial to society.

  7. http://www.lebanongunshop.com/services.html Sir, the Lebanon Gun Shop offers reloading courses. I'd be happy to show you what I know, but it'll be a week or two before I have much spare time. Also, I'm probably an hour from you.

  8. My vote would be for Lee as well, but for a turret press. It can be used as a single stage to learn on, then, if you want, it can be used in a more progressive fashion. Lee has a reloading kit that pretty much has everything except the consumables which come at a good price. Some of these pieces are rudimentary but you can upgrade once you know what to look for. https://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item/0000690304/classic-turret-press-kit

  9. Well he is obnoxious, but so are both of us, you more than me, but that aside, I thought if you were going to pretended to be an expert at something… like a defense attorney in shooting cases, you would have had to actually successfully defended people in those type cases. But apparently, I set my standards too high. It should be criminal for clowns like him, and others, to be spouting off about what people should do or shouldn’t do after a shooting when they have no track record or experience in the real world. He’s academia and the other academics can’t wait to have him speak at their classes. It’s like one of them telling you what it’s like to be in a shooting. If you are going to have a conversation about what its like to be in a shooting; it probably should be with someone that has been in a shooting. There are plenty of those folks around.

  10. I wasn’t impressed with his appearances here, that’s for sure. Maybe in the time since the Zimmerman trial he’s learned how to self promote without being completely obnoxious.

  11. Maybe the system could be geared more towards rehabilitation rather than incarceration. It's clear that the current system isn't a deterrent. I had a motorcycle stolen from my carport Erik. I now keep a motorcycle in my carport. I guess I deserve to have it stolen again.

  12. Good for you. It is appropriate that a pastor would drink a Bourbon called Angel's Envy. (I think)

  13. Too far away to help, but reloading is not complicated. The Richard Lee 2nd edition hand loading book is a good place to start . Also has a lot of load data. Need to be detailed oriented and practice common sense. Should be some one close to help you out, good luck with your new endeavor. Reading is your friendly way to get the basic knowledge on how to reload.

  14. For snubbies, I'm a fan of the old 158 gr LSWCHP load aka the "FBI load". It can be found in both standard and +P velocities. Nothing fancy, it just plain works.

  17. I'm a disagreeable old sort. I don't often do the "Welcome" for newbies. But for a Waterlogged Submariner, I'll make and exception. lol I have a cousin that was in the sub service for several years. I can't quote his base and unit for you, but I learned a few things from him. Did a tour of an old WWII sub years ago and gained a whole new perspective. I know the boats are much larger now, but still have to admire anyone who can go down in them. I'm claustrophobic, and I'd have to be strapped down and sedated to do it. Thank you for your service to this nation, and a big welcome to the funny farm.

  19. Always had a lot of respect for submariners...very unglamorized, but essential component of our national defense. They also tend to be a wee bit "off", so you should fit in well here on TGO.

  20. This is similar to my interpretation of that statement. The way I interpreted it was that it was simply a judgment on himself. He determined for himself that the burglar wasn’t a threat, at that moment he was left with a decision. He found himself in a position where he could have shot someone, but he didn’t have to. And by choosing not to shoot that person even know he knew he could have and been legally covered, he learned something about himself.

  23. While folks are busy feeling sorry for the woman who they think got unfairly overcharged, I feel like this is an opportune time to remind folks that the actual victim here was sitting on his own couch eating ice cream when someone who didn’t belong there walked in and shot him to death. Did she make some terrible mistakes, yep. That doesn’t lessen her responsibility for her actions any in this case. Texas is a state that’s pretty liberal with its laws regarding use of lethal force. You can use lethal force to defend property, not just a person in Texas. Yet, she was convicted of murder. Why? I believe it’s because ultimately she was in that man’s home. It was his castle, not hers, and she made conscious choice to take action to kill him. That admission of hers is what I believe sealed her fate, and rightfully so. If he had accidentally wandered into her home and she shot and killed him, it would have been tragic still, but no charges would have been filed because he would have been someplace he didn’t belong. You can find yourself in a terrible situation through accident and errors in judgement, and still be 100% responsible. In this case she did, and she is.

  24. Well, I’ve lived in an apartment complex and I could tell which one was mine even completely wasted. Maybe stupid was not a good word but she went into the wrong apartment. No there was no intent, it’s a bad situation all around. I just don’t understand how you can go into the wrong apartment. We’re they all keyed the same? Was the door unlocked? Too many questions.

  25. I've got a comptac minimalist paddle for a P01. I think it's a great holster, one of the best paddles I've come across. I think Erik88 is (or was) a user. CZ can be a little tough, having gone through it with a 75, aforementioned SDP, and most recently a RAMI P. Not familiar with this series, but it looks like the SP has bigger dimensions in the dust cover and light rail vs. the polymer tactical and phantom frames.

  26. https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/nra-carry-guard-terminates-remaining-policies/ If you're worried about Carry Guard being cancelled, drink your problems away. Andrew Branca stated, Separately, and coincidentally, today I received an email from the NRA, addressed to me personally. Was it about NRA Carry Guard, and the steps that are being taken to make sure that something like this never happens again? Of course not. It’s an invitation to join the NRA wine club. I kid you not…

  27. I was thinking the Director of the TBI might appreciate having the facts laid out plainly in front of him (who you are, who you aren't, dates of birth, etc.) So he had a good handle on who's working for the people of Tennessee under his direction.
