I’ve been playing around with the PTR 9CT and I think I found the set up I like. Want to see what you guys think. Did the Mec-Gar magazine work? They are some of the best aftermarket mags on the market and are in fact OEM for some big name companies. 1911’s are heavy, regardless of who makes them and 9mm versions are even heavier.

Anyone that believes state lines change beliefs, or that this can’t happen here; is only fooling themselves. (That’s not directed at you specifically AuEagle) Many here like to jump on Illinois as a state because they are ignorant about what goes on there and who controls the state. Three counties around Chicago have 50% of the population of the state, and are packed full of voters that rely on the government. The same thing is happening in Tennessee. We need to be aware of, and care about, what is going on in our state, and with Federal laws. The Democrats by their very nature are far more likely to vote than republicans. That has to change or we will be overrun with ignorant laws, more taxation, and bigger government with more control.

The holes in the wall are patched. Bullet size holes and I filled them with DAP from a tubel(it's pink when you apply it and turns white when dry). Fortunately our walls are white and sort of rough texture, so it blends in. Also, the damage is low on the wall and not noticeable (one is behind the computer desk the projectile went thru. The bullet entered the tread mill cover (plastic) and pretty sure judging from angle of travel that it hit what I call a Flywheel on the Motor Shaft. That Flywheel is metal (steel likely). I could see no other damage and the Treadmill works. Saved a few hundred $$$ there. I did not find a slug of lead anyplace. I did have a sliver of copper and lead that I picked up and disposed of the time it happened. As I remember that was two relative thin spread out pieces about size of a nickle. It was a Hollow Point Defense round. I am a Lucky Guy the way this turned out, the projectile even missed all the electrical wires behind that desk (Wires for Computer, TV, Phone, WIFI Router, etc.). I have to be lucky to live 81 years when you consider all the many things I have done. Still riding MCs about 20,000 miles year on all kind of E TN Backroads. Even the wife has ACCEPTED (I think). She even encouraged me to take an Indoor Range Membership (on a special $100 deal). I prefer outdoor ranges, but decided to do it at $100. That leaves the only thing left is "My Shame" and concern for what I did.

I couldn't decide where to post this shooting range information, so, I picked this topic. Might be good under women's topic also as it is a unique range (for women basically). However, men are accepted, read the story and you will see. This range is located where the Sevierville, TN Indoor Range use to be (it closed sometime back). I POST this because it is a Unique Sort of Range based on this statement. The Only Indoor Shooting Range in the Country Designed Specifically for "Women, Their Families and Friends"! They are nice friendly people, they do offer classes of all kinds (shooting, CC, safety, fitting gun to hand, even a safety class for children 6 and up. And, found out they do allow men (not just families of women). I think the owner of the range is also founder of SFWA Organization. They have done a great job of remodeling (looks like a women's salon). LONG STORY: End result is I did get the $100 year shooting membership, thin because of contacts I made Sat and SUN. A friend that is a member of Sevier County Gun Club (SCGC) sent me an EMAIL for what looked like an offer for a years shooting membership for $100 at Fam Fun Indoor Range. I called the range Nov 30 (offer expired Dec 1) to check on the deal. I found out latte (6PM - the lady in charge had been busy with a CC Class) that the offer was for members of SCGC (the $100 year shooting membership). She said, I could apply online and go join SCGC later (I think that is a $7 membership - I had considered it before, but did not). I decided not to mess with it as I prefer outdoor ranges (like TN Wildlife or National Forest ranges - all are 60 miles from me). However, I told the lady I would drop by to see what they had done with the range remodeling and maybe shoot once in awhile at the day rate ($12 all day price). I stopped by Sunday, Dec 1, and mentioned the phone conversation we had Saturday. After a bit of conversation, she said if you want a yearly membership I will sell you one for the $100 even though not a SCGC Member. So, I thought about it and decided I could do Target Shooting INDOOR RANGE (where you stand, look straight ahead, and aim and at targets some more than normal defense shooting away LOL). Then I could still do my other Outdoor Defense Stuff (move, draw, rack point aim, shoot) once in a while. I JOINED good til Dec 31, 2020 (13 months) and can bring a guest FREE.

Knowingly breaking the law, as absurd as it may be, and not staying under the radar is just stupid. I'm sure they could find something on most of us, so why give them the opportunity to look? I am in the pot legalisation corner, not because I smoke it, or want to, but because I see it as no different that alcohol, actually better. But, if I choose to puff on some, in Colorado where I grew up and often visit, I know the risks I would be taking, so I'd have nobody to blame but me if I were to lose my security clearance, job, guns, etc. I would not blame LE for enforcing the law, or my boss for enforcing the rules, it's the law. I go at least 5 to 7 over the speed limit in most places, and even when I see LEO on the side of the road, feeling that since I'm usually going slower than the rest I'll be ok. But if he decides to pull me over and write me up, I've accepted that risk, and while I may feel he should have pulled over the guy that blew past us, I can't say I'm innocent. In his case, him knowing he is a person of interest, for a murder, he only has himself to blame. Do I feel that a pot bust is stupid, you bet, but it doesn't make him innocent. As to the weapons, or any personal property, I think he should be given the opportunity to dispose of them, using a third party. The government has no right to take personal property unless in the case of drug pushers or other illicit business which used those funds to acquire the property. And even then, it should take a conviction and a court order to confiscate it permanently. If the case is thrown out, or if evidence doesn't prove illicit funds were used to purchase it, then it should be returned immediately to them.

Ruger should have made an SR9 2.0 like smith did instead of trying to keep up with Taurus

Probably thinking of me. I doubt I ever said ALL, but drug use and burglary do go hand in hand in my experience.

That sign has been there for YEARS! I thought it odd when I first saw it and then realized it wasn't talking about carried firearms, but rather for guns coming in for scope mounting and the like.

DaveTN. I think this is already happening in our great State. And I expect that in the next couple of election cycles, we will go from Red to Purple and finally later on Blue. Just like in VA, the rural areas are slowly loosing their voice to the metropolitian areas of Nashville, Memphis, Chattanooga and Knoxville. Nashville has joined Memphis and is pushing us further and further to the left. It's just a matter of time.

Time to start thinking about reloading. Better , faster, cheaper.

Just my 2 cents worth here... I was a gunsmith for many years and what you are describing sounds to me like the rim of the cartridge is not under the extractor. This holds the slide out of battery, and you wont be able to extract the cartridge as the rim isnt under the hook of the extractor. Shoot the gun again, and if/when it happens being very careful about muzzle disipline and finger OFF the trigger push the rear of the slide forward firmly, or strije it with the heal of your hand. If the slide moves forward with an audible click and can be fired this is what is happening. Let RIA know and they can fix it easily enough. Also try to grip the gun very firmly. That may help with feeding. The 1911 doesn't tollerate limp wristing very well. If possible have an experienced shooter try the gun as well. It's a learning process...

I've been following this topic to see where it would go, but I'll just add that it's not only firearms that are of concern. The stuff that we have that is important to US is not necessarily important to others, family or otherwise. I have some belongings that are hugely important to ME, that no one else really cares about. It's my interest, and my time, work and money that has gone into it. As much as I've tried to get my kids involved, they just dont care. I've had a hard time getting that through my head, but it's starting to sink in. So, eventually, I'll have to make decisions about selling those things, as hard as it will be for ME. I remember telling my grandfather a similar thing before he passed away, which helps me deal with it....that while I respect your time, interest and hobby, I'm just really not where you are with this. It's a bit of a reality check, for sure.

You're probably right. When I still lived in the socialist state of NY I was at a friends house for dinner that is liberal but still owns one .22 that he shoots, so nut a complete lost cause. I had been to a gun show earlier in the day with a mutual friend but purposely didn't bring it up so we wouldn't get into the whole gun discussion. My wife makes an off hand comment that I had been with Brian earlier in the day and the conversation went downhill from there. He asked how many handguns I had and I told him 4, he wanted to know why. In NY you have to have a carry permit to even own a handgun and they are listed on a card you have to carry with you. Another friend at the same gathering reached in his wallet and hand the host his gun card, the whole side was full, as it was being handed back he flipped it over and the other side was mostly full also. That ended the conversation, he was outnumbered. Just to stay on topic. I have decided I have "almost" enough guns, not real interest in selling any I have. I'm lucky in that my son has given me orders that anything I decide to sell I have to clear with him first to be sure he doesn't want it. When no relatives or friends are interested in can be a problem. An acquaintance of mine in Ohio that was a big gun collector died earlier this year. His gun safe was a special built room that was probably about 15'x20' that was furnished in leather easy chairs and a large desk and lots of guns on the walls and cabinets (around 500 was his estimate). They all went to a very large gun auction. I unfortunately didn't hear about him passing till the guns were gone, I would have made the trip just to watch. He did have one gun that my Dad sold him I might have tried to buy.

That sign is at all of them nationwide. It’s only applicable to guns brought in for trade/smith/range services. I use the range at the one in Springfield, MO when I’m in town and they check the gun, and put a trigger lock on it that’s removed at the range or whatever counter who’s services you require. As far as your loaded carry gun, they aren’t concerned with that.

Civil Unrest would have been a great term to stick on the Patriot Militia at Lexington and Concord. I get there are some wackjob mouth breathers in these militias, but government is supposed to make laws that protect liberty and protect individual rights, not protect government.

I really think Ruger erred when they discontinued the SR series. They are really good pistols.

The last round out-of-battery issue is commonly caused by inertia feed, where the last round squirts out of the magazine on recoil, before the slide has a chance to push it out of the mag. So the slide follows the round into battery but is stopped by the extractor as it hits the case rim and fails to snap over. Then you rack the slide but the round stays in the chamber because the extractor isn't hooked on the case rim. Inertia feeds are a sign your mag springs are weakening. Wilson mag springs wear out pretty fast in my experience. As a troubleshooting method, I would suggest using new 7 round mags to see if the problem follows. You say the issue doesn't happen with the ACT mag, which is a good indicator that inertia feed is what you're experiencing. If you want to replace the Wilson mag springs, I have had good luck with the ISMI replacement spring, part number SSCS2. Of course you could call Wilson and see if they will send you new springs but I generally prefer to just buy a new spring that doesn't have the same issue. https://www.brownells.com/magazines/handgun-magazines/magazine-parts/magazine-springs/1911-premium-magazine-springs-prod7541.aspx

If you’ve already got some grease by all means try it. The point is, a lot of 1911 problems can be cured by proper lubrication. If it slides grease it, if it turns oil it.

I purchased a RIA M1911 A1 Ultra Tac in 9mm. The Mec-Gar magazine that came with the gun did not in my opinion seem to even fit correctly. I purchased some Wilson Combat magazines and have not had a single issue with the gun. I feel where RIA is lacking is that the guns they make are HEAVY and the supplier of their magazines is providing a poor quality product.
