  1. jhc77: what you need are some good quality gunsmithing hollow ground screwdrivers. Well worth the money. Never use standard screwdrivers on a gun. That's just asking to bugger up the screws.

  2. These are awsome weapons and extremely well made. Remove the grips id you are comfortabke with that and hise it out very well with gun scruber or similar solvent. If it was carried but not well maintained a really good cleaning is all that should be needed. It sounds like your return to battery issues are solved so I'd not polish anything. Lube it well with a quality light oil and shoot it. The two clicks you are feeling on reset should go away with the thourough cleaning and use. The rexoil spring is a great idea, they were rarely replaced and it is a wear item. Good luck. Its an awsome gun.

  3. Bumping this old thread. Not too long after this post I did run a few patches drenched in Hoppes down the barrel. I was in a cold sweat basically. Everything worked out fine. I should get it out in the light and take some better pictures. Need to find a softer material flathead screw driver (for my sanity) and take it apart.

  5. I went to the hospital today to visit a friend I've know since 1959. I'm 70 and he's 5 years older than me and he's had a rough life but the good news is he is on the mend and goes home on Monday. He shared a thought to live by his father shared with him some 50 odd years ago on his death bed. The old man said to him..."Life is at best uncertain......so always eat your dessert first". He's been unable to not think of that every time he sits down to eat when a dessert is involved. I'm going to take that advice to heart starting tonight.

  6. Hopefully pro-2nd Virginians will be able to beat this kind of legislation back. Attacks on the 2nd Amendment and personal protection liberties across the country at the local, state and federal level is alarming to say the least.

  7. Great advice. At 71, soon to be 72, I think I will eat that b-day cake first . Come to think of it, just may do that from now on.

  11. There is not a dealer in East Tennessee that requires it. They can’t require it. You might need to have a discussion with the dealers you buy from.

  12. When I was in high school, I had a summer job in a warehouse. It is the first time I ever used a forklift andit took me a bit of time to get the hang of it. On the very top of a very high rack was a pallet that no one could get down because it was a bit far back on the shelf for the forks to reach. I was told that the pallet contained a box full of paper plates, so I didn't think it a great deal would matter when I dropped it. Being the young newbie that no one took too seriously, I wanted to prove myself by getting that pallet down all by myself. I got to work early and practiced getting the fork lift in place and positioned. Check. Got the forks under the pallet. Check. Was able to get the forks to the end of the pallet. Check. I was ready to strike and prove my mettle! Everyone went to lunch at Noon, so at 11:30 I got the fork lift as close as I could to the rack that held the pallet so I could strike as soon as everyone left. When the warehouse was quiet, I struck! I got the fork lift in position and carefully raised it, The forks went right in, and I got enough lift to bring the pallet down. What I did not know and could not see was a broken piece of wood sticking out on the back of the pallet, so when I started to come down, the wood hit the rack and flipped the pallet. Down it fell about 12 feet and hit the floor. And 5,000 ceramic coffee cups exploded through the box, of course all broken. (Paper plates?) I went into a panic trying to fix it, but I had no defense. When my boss came back from lunch and I explained what I did, he laughed so hard! And I started laughing with him and offered to help clean up. I was sure I survived this huge mistake. He was kind enough to tell me that I didn't need to help clean up, because I was fired. He also stated what a joy it was to work with me, because I was the dumbest employee he ever had . . . Such is life!

  13. Anyone that believes state lines change beliefs, or that this can’t happen here; is only fooling themselves. (That’s not directed at you specifically AuEagle) Many here like to jump on Illinois as a state because they are ignorant about what goes on there and who controls the state. Three counties around Chicago have 50% of the population of the state, and are packed full of voters that rely on the government. The same thing is happening in Tennessee. We need to be aware of, and care about, what is going on in our state, and with Federal laws. The Democrats by their very nature are far more likely to vote than republicans. That has to change or we will be overrun with ignorant laws, more taxation, and bigger government with more control.

  15. This was handed down from my favorite uncle. 1892 in .25-20. He purchased it new on a trip in Colorado. I believe he said he paid $25 for it at an auction; a hardware store was closing down. I thnk he was 13 years old. He named it Schatze, a german word for sweetheart. Matter of fact all three of these guns were his.
