  1. Thank you! I'm going to extend your purchase by another 6-months for the hassle AND the fact that you reporting this helped me correct the same issue for a bunch of folks who hadn't even noticed it yet. I really appreciate it.

  2. I think these are pretty photogenic edc’s. No crazy appeal of a tactical, but nice to look at. I added a Talon grip to it and front sight is red now. Clickable thumbnails:

  3. Still not enough incentive to get me into a Walmart.

  4. It's cheaper than what mine cost, that's for sure. I figured if they ran a $25 sale and mossberg had a $25 rebate that would save ammo money. My S&W was $180 off Black Friday with combined rebates and sales together. Academy took it from $479 to $349 then the S&W rebate was $50. It helped a bunch combined together. He's 20 so any ammo money is good ammo money.

  5. Yep. And certs for the bolt, rope, bucket, measuring tape, scale, and calculator. And the Deionized water.

  6. Getting a gun on post is way too easy, though you do run the risk of being the random vehicle to get searched. And, if going to the range, it is actually allowed. Personally, I wish they would allow normal ccw on post, and storage in your vehicle if the building you happen to need to go in is posted, just like off post. As it is, you are disarmed the moment you head there, which is every weekday for me.

  7. There is a Walmart clearance thread on arfcom with a bunch of SKUs, and it is also posted on Slick Deals if you want to check specific calibers and potential availability. I grabbed 1k of 9mm for 10cpr (after tax!) and 800 rounds of 5.56 for 16cpr. I wish I had grabbed more yesterday but left a few boxes for the next person....but today I'm going for more.

  9. I learned to drive in a 71 maverick, 3 on the tree in Spokane Washington (well actually Fairchild AFB) in the late 70’s. I knew nothing about driving in the ice and snow. Drove to Spokane and was returning, pulled into the left turn lane to go to the base and downshifted (bad mistake) that sucker spun like a top, ended up in the middle of the Marian with the tail end hanging into oncoming traffic with a big a$$ station wagon, and right behind him was a freaking semi. The car went around the front of the car, the truck went around the rear, both missing me by inches. I put that sucker in 1st gear and powered my way out of the median and got to the base. I spend the next 3 weeks on the parade field at night learning how to control it in any weather conditions. SP’s only bothered me a couple of times thinking I was playing or goofing off but once I explained what I was doing they were good. Next time I ventured off base I knew what I was doing.

  10. I doubt that I'll sell any of my 1911s to make room for a glock.

  11. I think the .44 special is actually a good home defense round. While I prefer semi-autos for defensive purposes, if I was going to use a revolver for that purpose and did not want .357 mag power, I would go with the .44 special over .38 special.

  12. Working on fixing up my JM Marlin 336 and would like to see some pics of others classics. I got this one from my grandpa which he got second hand. It will be staying in the family from here on out. No plans to refinish. Just added a sling kit and have a skinner dovetail aperture sight ordered. I was looking at the receiver version of their sight but liked the aesthetics of the dovetail better. Custom leather sling by Rick Garcia. It is a 1976 mode that has seen its fair share of use and taken plenty of deer. Still smooth as silk though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  13. Bumping this old thread. Not too long after this post I did run a few patches drenched in Hoppes down the barrel. I was in a cold sweat basically. Everything worked out fine. I should get it out in the light and take some better pictures. Need to find a softer material flathead screw driver (for my sanity) and take it apart.

  15. It well past the time for the US.gov to recognize what the people in the US and the KSA have long known, we are not friends. It’s time to stop pretending that they are our allies. It only leads to dead Americans.

  16. I’m not TGODavid, that’s for sure. The entire gun was rust blued. It’s got a gorgeous satin shine to it. It’s a different look from a standard hot blue process Here’s a couple more pics, maybe they’ll show the finish off a bit better.

  21. This was handed down from my favorite uncle. 1892 in .25-20. He purchased it new on a trip in Colorado. I believe he said he paid $25 for it at an auction; a hardware store was closing down. I thnk he was 13 years old. He named it Schatze, a german word for sweetheart. Matter of fact all three of these guns were his.

  23. Not to detract from your beautiful firearm @maroonandwhite but I haven't put mine out there much. I've always wanted a 336 but have no real purpose for one. It would not see full use and to fancy for a range piece. A Henry in 22LR or the Big Boy in 38/357 is a bucket list item personally. When it's time it will hopefully be custom obviously to get a round barrel to match the old man 1866.
