  2. The Americans booby trapped them. Don’t try and load it. Hans lost his thumb that way.

  3. The problem with .380 is that almost none of it (if any) is IWBA compliant. That is none of it expands well AND penetrates 12". Now do you ALWAYS need 12" of penetration? No . The old dude who killed the guy in the movie theater for throwing popcorn at him had no problem with .380 working. He also shot a guy at arm's length who was wearing nothing thicker than a t-shirt. On the other hand I have seen binder clips used to hang targets get hit with .380 and suffer a dent....the same clips hit with 9mm had holes all the way through them. The only thing that FOR SURE delivers adequate penetration in a .380 is FMJ ( I like the winchester flat point). In a HP the one that seems to open up AND penetrate fairly well is the Hornady XTP (or a similar load using that same bullet like the Fiocchi Extrema using the XTP projectile). Just beware that the Fiocchi case rims are a little thicker than Hornady and can cause extraction/ejection issues in some guns. The up side to 380 is it fits in truly small guns that used to only be the size envelope for .25ACP or .32ACP . The Glock 42 and the Kahr P380 and CW380 are true pocket pistol sized guns that actually work reliably and have decent sights and they can be shot pretty well.

  4. If anyone interested, R K Shows will be in M'boro this weekend, at the Expo ( usual site ). Certainly not in the class with Tulsa, but usually the largest in this area. Guess I'll go kill some time there, not really looking to buy anything, just enjoy going.

  6. Thanks for linking this as I had forgotten about it. 6 years ago I used his test of the Gold Dot in .380 to pick that for my wife's p238. I'm comfortable with that round consistently hitting 10-12" with decent expansion. I disagree with the notion that one must carry ball ammo in .380ACP but if that makes someone more comfortable I understand. I just think modern .380 ammo has improved enough to meet my needs.

  9. For those that are concerned about reliability, they don't tend to rush to market and vet their products before release. I have been very happy with my prior holosuns. But the true measure to me was I found their customer service to be fantastic on the one occasion I had to send one back. It felt very much like dealing with Vortex with similar quick turnaround. The few other accounts I've seen in various places also had good experience. I wouldn't hesitate as they stand behind their stuff.

  10. I believe I saw a youtube video with the holosun rep where there was no solar option on the 507K. As for holster options, its usually a blanket "optic cut" that makes sure there is no kydex around the rear of the slide so they are generally OK with any optics. If you have a non "optics cut" holster you can likely modify it with a dremel and sandpaper to make it work as most holsters do not rely on the rear of the slide for retention.

  11. Never trust OpticsPlanet delivery windows. THey are notorious for providing an "estimate" and just moving it out. For instance I had a Sig Romeo 0 on order from November that was 5-7 weeks and I still didn't have a clear date when I cancelled the order on Monday.

  12. That was just from the OpticsPlanet site. They added the V2, but it says 5-7 weeks delivery.

  13. I usually carry my LCPII because it is invisible in my DeSantis holster in my back pocket. I use Precision One XTP - 13”+ Penetration according to tests.

  15. The 407 and 507 both have an RMR footprint, the hellcat has a shield rmsc cut that is much narrower. The 507k is the holosun optic for your hellcat or other single stack (Glock 48, p365, hellcat, etc.) Also I saw a youtube video and another post from someone talking with a holosun rep that the 507K is going to have the same reticle options options as the 507C with dot, circle dot, circle options. The 407K is basically the 507K with only a dot option for the reticle.

  16. Instances of people actually performing a select slug exchange in the midst of a gunfight are rarer than actual Bigfoot captures. I've heard of several instances of people shooting all of their buckshot and then loading a slug, but I've only heard of one possible actual exchange. I'm a big fan of the FliteControl. I've got one shotgun that will keep all of the pellets in the coke bottle of an IALEFI target at 35 yards if I do my part. Most of my guns will do that at 25+.

  17. Man, I’d like to give these Holosun’s a try on my Hellcat. I just need one with a compatible footprint. Springfield going with the oddball mounting footprint is really starting to wear on my nerves.

  18. I carry a Glock 42 or a SIG P 238 as regularly as i put on my pants... One of them is my constant companion... I keep mine loaded with the 102 grain Remington Golden Sabers... They function just fine in both pistolas... If i'm goin into " The Frontier ", i also carry a big pistola as well.. Remember the words of the old Texas Ranger when the lady at the BBQ saw his SAA on his hip: ..." Are you expecting trouble sir..?"... He replied: " No mam, if i was, i would have brought my shotgun"... Remember, the best gun ya can have is the one that is with ya if ya need it... Dont worry about the caliber; work on shootin straight n true with the one you have when ya need it... Hope this helps... leroy

  19. A lot more than inflation happened to car prices. I can’t think of many 2015 cars one could buy for $2525.01 which is the current equivalent of your $400 in 1971 after inflation.

  20. At work, my technique for ammo selection is that I have one shotgun loaded with buckshot and one loaded with slugs. They are turned opposite ways in the rack; so, that I can tell which is which. If I jump suspects on the ground, I pull the buckshot. If I jump suspects in a car, I pull the slugs. Otherwise, I just run buckshot in/on the gun, and if I feel I just have to have them, I'll have slugs on the belt. I tend to use a shotgun for known confined spaces and a carbine for everything else.

  22. I have a 42, and never carry it because it's so close to my 43 in size and weight. Might as well carry the extra snort. I do carry an LCP sometimes. Can't beat the concealability of that little gun. A 380 is pretty weak. Now, to answer to Dave's story, from his old stompin' grounds. A woman was working as a bar tender, and shot her husband/boyfriend across the bar, in the face with a 38 special (old round nose lead). It bounced off one of his teeth and lodged in his jaw. Pretty much just a flesh wound. He damn near beat her to death before they could pull him off. Pretty sure a .357 would have done a much better job,

  25. Since it was good enough for the apocalypse I may have to get one. But only if it has unlimited ammo like Rick's.
