  2. Which speaks volumes of our (society at large) priorities. We hold the lives of celebrities, who do nothing but entertain us, on a pedestal while we hardly knowledge those who lay their lives on the line for our way of life. But that is ok, speaking for me, I did not do it for idolization or even gratitude but for my own sense of patriotism. But I refuse to pander to the masses that insist on holding these people in such high regard. I'll acknowledge their death, and wish their family well, but that is as far as I'll go.

  3. I didn’t intend to offend anyone, but should have seen it coming. I just do not understand why our society elevates athletes, actors, etc. to sainthood status or beyond simply because they have a specific talent. I’ve not seen it mentioned here that one of our planes went down in Afghanistan a few days ago. It was barely mentioned in the news.

  5. How? It's terrible when there is loss of life, no matter who it is. Nothing against you personally, many people are the same way, but I get tired of holding celebrities higher than regular people when they die. I'm not a Bball fan, but at least this wasn't one of those trouble making individuals we hear about in the news, and I'm sure we will be hearing about this the whole week if not longer. I sure hate to hear his daughter was with him, it is sure to be heartbreaking for the mother..

  6. What on earth would make anyone believe that MSNBC would report the results accurately if it was in favor of the gun?

  7. No one is elevating him to sainthood status. He was exceptional in his field and one of the few good role models for kids in the game. If that had been Jerry Miculek, Julie Golob, or even Shane Coley, it would have been talked about here (because they are exceptional in their field) but probably not on the news much. When a few people are morning their loss; it won’t make national news. When hundreds of thousands are; it will.

  8. I agree with Greg. Why not have him out and let him shoot both? See which he shoots better with - and start with that confidence.

  9. Why not just stick it in a plain old gym bag with a shoulder strap?

  10. I have bought and sold a few guns on that site. I have never had a problem but I am always extra careful when dealing with complete strangers. Unlike TGO you have no idea who your are dealing with.

  11. One of the challenges for pilots learning IFR (instrument- rather than vision-based flying) is actually learning to believe what the instruments, like an artificial horizon or altimeter, are telling you rather than what your body and intuition are telling you.

  13. Being the same grandson that wanted the 6.5 Creedmore (I assume), I am guessing if you asked him, he would go with the 7mm-08. Why? It is different. Everyone has heard of 308, but if gets to talking with his buddies he will be proud that he has something different. I would let him choose as well. He may do some research and decide. I think that alone is worth it. If he's interested enough to research it, and you don't care, let him decide. 7mm-08 will be around forever too. It's too well established.

  14. Bought and sold many things on GOC without issue. Use your common sense and you should be fine. If I feel anything at all is off kilter, I just don't do it.

  15. Well, considering their audience, 46% is pretty darn good. I wonder what the numbers would look like on a neutral site...if there are any left.

  16. I just voted and if the 3.3M total votes is accurate, each vote moves the needle about 0.0003%. So I wouldn't expect to see much change.

  17. ATC told him that he was too low for flight following, which means at the altitude he was flying his radar signature was either being lost in the ground clutter, or like a lot of ATC in congested areas, radar was only being provided at higher altitudes to prevent such loss. At no point in the transmission referenced did ATC warn him that he was "flying too low", in fact its doubtful that he was being seen on radar at all ( the controller asked him to "ident", which means to briefly boost the transmission of the onboard transponder to help identify specific traffic in a crowded environment) or, if he was seen, he had reported VFR conditions, which to the controller would mean that the pilot had sufficient visual references to see that for himself. Obviously, in retrospect, he was flying too low for the terrain, but nothing in that transmission would indicate that the controllers were concerned about his altitude during that time period.

  21. Got mine today. Looks like a quality mag. Good as any I've bought anywhere, or those included with pistols. Reminds me of the high gloss mags from mec gar. Real shiny black finish. Empty mag drops free like it was launched when using the mag release. Not so good with the 10 round plastic mags. Used the Glock mag loader that came with my 43x. A little stiff in loading, but I did get a full 15 rounds in all 3 mags. Tried cycling the rounds and first round picked up well. Found it took a very strong stroke to eject from a loaded mag. Might just be me. No marks on the feed lips after 2 mags. Without shooting them yet, I'm pretty pleased. Will try them soon.

  25. Answer to your how. Imagine if your son was a lower level player or a bench warmer and died in that crash with the God that was Kobe Bryant . For the record that was sarcasm and I am NOT a Bball fan nor a worshiper of celebrities. Your son's death while equally as tragic and heartbreaking will be eclipsed and end up a mention in the back pages compared to the long story that will be the life and death of KB . I'm in agreement with you @Omega. And while I'm sure I'll get flamed for this I'll go a step further and say that ol KB might still be around had he chosen a limo to the game instead of the ill fated chopper. But that's the blessing and curse of having that kind of money and celebrity status. Hes not the first to die in private flight and wont be the last. It's the risk you take.

  26. Dang, I should have caught that. I thought she looked as if I'd seen that face before. My brother-in-law is a friend of Oleg Volk. The b-i-l had lent him weapons for his photo shoots a couple of times. During a trip delivering some, I met Oleg and a couple of his models as they were getting ready for a shoot, and I believe the girl in the above pic was her. Oleg Volk is a heck of a photographer! I've seen a few shots not in his discarded stuff, things he considered "not usable". PHFFT! I wish I had that talent. And the opportunities to be around all the exotic weaponry, and the women, he works with.

  31. While searching through the many suggestions here, Amazon popped this poster storage tube up. At $20 it was just what I was looking for. It just got here and is great! I'll probably fill a small camera bag with extra ammo and attach it to the shoulder strap. All I need now is a Bernie Sanders sticker to remove any doubt that there is anything of value inside. Now you see it Now you don't

  34. Last I bought was a Colt 1911, 9mm. Before that was an FNX 45 tacticle. Before that G20 Before that a Colt Delta Elite I've bought a few smaller guns but they were purchased with the intent to be for my wife, 3913, BDA 380, and the one she actually considers hers now, a G19. I don't buy guns to conceal, hide, be comfortable sitting on them all day. I buy my guns based on my ability to shoot them accurately and put lead on target. IMHO that is the mission, the reason to buy, train with, and carry a gun. Not making my shirt or pants wrinkle doen't even enter the equation or I'd just take a picture of one and carry it in my wallet.
